      as someone who cares about 1440p and raster performance i was surprised by how well the 7900 gre did compared to the 300 euro more expensive 4070 ti super. i was under the impression that the ti super was a lot better than the gre but this video totally opened my eyes and made it easier for me to choose a gpu for a pc build, that is if i had the money to buy any of these god damn parts 🤣☠

      tbh, after owning a 3080 10gb for 3 years already, I really want to move towards a newer card... but none of these cards is a solid 30% above mine at the moment, although the 7900xt is almost there, but dang in my canadian dollars it's over 1000$. Even reselling my 3080, I would have to shell 500$ or 600$!! Insane! Also, if Nvidia had actually put the right amount of vram on their cards they'd be WAY easier to buy. Ilearnt the lesson with the 10gb: it's NOT enough in many games already.
      I'll wait for next year, but given how SLOW both brands release their cards, I will have to wait for june 2025 for a 5070 (Nvidia) or a 8800 (AMD)...

      I used to think that the RX 7900 XT should have been called the 7800 XT. We got basically an RX 6800 XT as the RX 7800 XT except this time it has a bit better ray tracing but it's still not good enough. You guys are aware it's not really moving the needle right? Now they offer the same performance at the same tier and make it slightly cheaper. Which really after around 3 or 4 years the price of an RX 6800 XT would have been lower by now anyway. The ray tracing is better but not really good enough to compete with Nvidia yet. The RX 7000 series except for the 7900 XT and XTX is just pointless in my opinion. There just wasn't a big enough upgrade to really justify a whole new generation of cards. It's more like a refresh with slightly better performance until you get to the 7900 series. The RX 7900 XT and XTX are the only ones that are a real upgrade over last gen and the value isn't there compared to the RX 6000 series.

    This video is such an amazing coincidence! Based on your recent videos on the AMD cards, I decided to go with team red for the first time ever (7900XT from broken 3080). However, I was still a bit worried for driver issues and wasn't really 100% convinced that the 4070TiS would not be the better choice.
    Now, after ordering yesterday, your results have absolutely proven my decision to be the right one! That's amazing!

      @@abutalsafuba2179 That is a very good question. Which to the first part I can't seem to find the answer to. I don't see videos comparing CPU's with and without SAM to see the gain. That being said there are enough videos comparing the 7700x vs 5800X3D and they are not far off. @ancientGameplays also has a video with these two and he always tests with it. In the video you can see they trade blows in some cases it's the higher core clocks that win the battle in others it's the 3D vcache. Overall I think you can expect pretty much the same results.

Yes the 4080S would be better but unfortunately didnt have more budget at the time and I didnt want to want longer since then I would also want the 7800X3D instead of 7600X and so on. i have been using my 7900xt for a nearly a year now and I have no complaints regarding instability or performance. I had however massive temp issues because of thermal paste pump out. I believe every card with the larger Navi 31 dies will be affected by early pump out because of the die design and high power limits. I am surprised more people are not talking about this as this will cause hotspot temps to rise very quickly. Within a month I went from 80c hotspots to 98c. RMA will only delay the issue. I had to use phase change pads on mine to get it under control for good. Now it's max 85c at max load with 30% fan speed.

That was the 3rd or 4th time issues I had with AMD cards could not be replicated by Nvidia cards. For me it has been 100% factual, so I have paid the Nvidia tax a couple times now because I won’t go through that again. I’m glad more people don’t have these problems but they are out there. I am one of them. I used DDU and I used it properly. I used so many different cables and setting, new installs of operating system, more than once…still had issues with AMD that I have never had with Nvidia. I loved the video, worth the wait. You never disappoint.
    My 470 TI super gets on average 4 FPS more than the one shown here. It's the tuff oc version.
    And it sustains around 300-315 watts at max load ray tracing as well.
    Seems mine just has a much higher power limit, which is enabling more headroom.
    It does get very toasty though lol.
    Got to keep an eye on that hotspot.
    I have both the 7900 XT and the 470 TI super. But I still find myself using the XT more, games truly feel smoother on it.
    I thought I would use ray tracing but I don't. I loaded up cyberpunk and said "so this is path tracing?"
    Then I turned it off and preferred high resolution and high FPS lol.
    You know, depending on the person I feel like ray tracing is oversaturated in argument, and quite frankly extremely overrated.
    For me personally, I will always choose higher resolution with high frame rate.
    And to tell you the truth the path tracing in cyberpunk often looked worse than just regular ray tracing.
    It almost seemed super over the top, like a cartoon.
    So weird seeing a completely dry street reflecting a colorful light that's really far away from it.
    The only thing I use the 470 TI super on most is world of Warcraft, It does get a lot more frames per second on there with retracing on. But the XT does very well also, usually nice study 60 frames per second with retracing.

For example the Steel Legend 7900 GRE only achieves minimal, stable overclocking, to around or just under 2400 Mhz. Other models can get quite a bit higher than that.

    the better "high end" value gpu's on both sides, the 4080S is obviously faster than the 4070TIS, but the price increase is just not worth the 10-15% extra performance, that can be gained back tunning the 70TIS to close the gap, and even so, you won't really notice the difference unless you have an fps counter enabled, even in super heavy scenarios like path traced 2077, they are at 59 vs 66fps 1440p DLSSQ, so unless you find 8fps in that scenario worth an extra 200-400usd, i don't see a scenario where i can justify a 4080S.
    And the GRE for what it is and it's price, and radeon's weaker feature set, is the perfect balance, same amount of vram, a lot cheaper than it's bigger N31 siblings, and can regain a lot of the performance by also tunning it, unless you truly NEED the 20-24gb of vram for stuff like ML or really heavy rendering, the GRE is as far as i can get a radeon with their current pricing.

    • @stangamer1151
      @stangamer1151 4 місяці тому

      4080 S is 18% faster than 4070 Ti S at 4K (according to TPU). If you are aiming at 4K res, you need every last drop of performance. These additional 18% surely help to maintain smoother framerates.
      But the thing is 4090 is just 24% faster than 4080 S, while it costs like 60%-80% more money, yet so many people choose 4090, simply because they want faster card. Same goes to 4070 Ti S vs 4070 S. The latter offers significantly better value for the money, as it is 33% cheaper and just 15% slower. The lower down the model line you go, the better value you get. That was always the case in the GPU market.

    • @ishiddddd4783
      @ishiddddd4783 4 місяці тому

      @@stangamer1151 problem is that TPU is an average, you need to see the actual performance numbers before you consider an 12% increase as something worth it, when the 4080S gets 47fps, the 4070tiS gets 43, when the 80S gets 60, the 70TIS gets 54, without taking upscallers, settings, etc.
      There is an argument to be made for gains, but there simply aren't enough to justify a 300usd hike.
      The 4090 lead over the 4080 is not only much larger than the 4080 over the 4070tiS, but techpowerup average is only taking into account their first benchmark games, once you start seeing their newer reviews the 4090 goes up to 36% faster at times than the XTX and 4080S, add the extra vram, RT performance, and the 4090 is also the RTX card with largest oc headroom.

    • @ishiddddd4783
      @ishiddddd4783 4 місяці тому

      @@stangamer1151 youtube deleted my comment for no reason lol, here it goes again.
      The thing is, porcentages look good until you see the actual difference in the number they deliver, that 12-15% lead translates roughly to 4-8fps when they are in the 50-60fps range, or 10-20fps when both are well past 120fps, it's a performance difference so small, that you won't perceive it unless you have an fps counter, without mentioning dlss, fg, same amount of vram, etc.
      Those small porcentages won't really help it age better, and won't be noticed even in path traced scenarios.
      in the otherhand, not only is the lead of the 4090 vs 4080S much larger than the 80 vs 70TIS, but thats the problem with averages and sites like TPU that won't update their relative performance chart, it's that in newer releases the 4090 lead can go up to nearly 40% in stuff like avatar, let alone ray tracing, vram, and it being the rtx 40 gpu with the largest oc headroom by far.
      still, for an extra 200-300, that 15% improvement isn't worth it, and with the 4090 you pay for the unreachable gpu.

I checked the best sellers list on amazon and newegg. While one 4070 Ti was in the top 50, after that it just disappears. Where as there are the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX appear several times in the list with different models. I hope Nvidia drops the price to $750 to make sure it doesn't compete with 7900 XTX.

      Watch my OC tutorial, and unlike they're saying below (comment that makes no sense), I had the Sapphire pulse before and the results were 3% slower in some cases and 0% difference in others (like lower resolutions or games like AC: Mirage)

    It’s clear that AMDs iteration of ReBar, SAM, is very well optimised giving Radeon gpus a vg boost in frames 💪🤩and in addition Nvidias driver overhead 🐌🐌sees ReBar being useless pretty much for any performance boost as its driver overhead is imo, hampering ReBar benefits (on Nvidia gpus).
    Great video once again Ancient Gameplays 🥰💪🥳👍

      Thank you! I actually gave an idea to AMD (which I believe they will implement) that will allow SAM to deliver more performance across the board

    At what settings did you OC the 7900 XT exactly? 3000/2650 - what mV, fast timings? Power limit? What settings would you prever for performance and which for energy saving?

    Great video as always
    It just sad there's no 7900 GRE in stock and how 7900XT priced the same as 4070 ti super in where i live, at same pricing i'll go with nvidia.
    One thing tho 4080 super vs 4070 ti super have fairly close path tracing performance (still under 60 fps without frame-gen) I tried pt on 4070 ti super and it works perfectly.

    • @anitaremenarova6662
      @anitaremenarova6662 4 місяці тому

      It's not under 60FPS, just for 4K but that is an unsustainable resolution without the 4090 anyways.

      @@anitaremenarova6662 yeah according to Owen testing it doesn't have huge difference in Path-tracing, but both still NEEDED the frame-gen which ultimately 4070 ti super offer the same experience as 4080 super.

    For a Nvidia RTX 40-series, I feel the RTX 4070 Super and 4090 are you’re only options this generation 🤩🥳🤤as other models offer small incremental performance improvements for example the 4070Ti/Ti Super and 80 class gpus for much more money! 💰💰
    As someone who got a RTX 4070 (non Super) a few weeks after launch as an “open box” for $490USD plus local taxes here in Australia 🇦🇺 I’m happy with its value and performance. I also got my RTX4090 at a decent price at launch ….. and gotten much use out of it for gaming and some production needs it’s been worth it imo. I’m normally an 80-class buyer but the 90-class was too a value and offered a decent performance boost over the 80-class this generation.

    Yeah, Path Tracing doesn't seem to be real playable outside of a 4090 with DLSS and frame gen going. And even then, I've been watching Seagull play through CP2077 recently with Path Tracing, and while it looks pretty a lot of the time, the game is also incredibly dark a lot of the time, often to the point it's hard to see anything, because the game was not originally designed with path tracing in mind and some areas just don't have enough light. And then, even with his monster computer and DLSS going, the game chugs at times for him during hectic gameplay with his 4090.

    • @AncientGameplays
      @AncientGameplays  4 місяці тому

      Path Tracing is fine with a 4080/4080 Super, even the 4070Ti Super can do fine in Cyberpunk, but Portal and other games like Desordre will suffer a lot
