Will SAM impact vary depending on CPU? Eg i have a 5800x3d will i expect to see same fps as those shown in the video? Or even from ddr4(which I'm still on) to ddr5
@@abutalsafuba2179 That is a very good question. Which to the first part I can't seem to find the answer to. I don't see videos comparing CPU's with and without SAM to see the gain. That being said there are enough videos comparing the 7700x vs 5800X3D and they are not far off. @ancientGameplays also has a video with these two and he always tests with it. In the video you can see they trade blows in some cases it's the higher core clocks that win the battle in others it's the 3D vcache. Overall I think you can expect pretty much the same results.
@Goldthius I couldn't find anything either. I'm leaning on the 7900xt but i want to be sure my cpu is not going to affect SAM performance. Its a good assumption with 7700 and 5800x3d. But we see ram does affect fps in a lot of games. It would be a good test for AG to do.
While im happy my 7900xt is godlike i think i would've waited some months for the 7900 gre instead when it came out here in the states. Very impressive what that card is doing for price/performance. I couldnt wait though since i was tempted to get the 7900xt for 710 bucks at the time. Still glad i did
I waited for the price to drop here in the UK and picked one up a couple of weeks ago for £620 with 2 free games and I think it's well worth every penny! A lot of people said it wasn't all that for VR but I've not had any issues at all ultra setting on every game through virtual desktop with an old router ethernet directly on the pc and only the quest 3 on the WiFi works a treat and metro awakening looks awesome maxed out 😉
I was originally going to get the 7900 XT since it was the cheaper one of the two. But managed to get a deal on the 4070 Ti Super for $740 in addition to a 12% cash back using Rakuten . So I technically got it for less than the XT. Just happy I didn’t have to overpay for the Nvidia features since I usually play single player story based games which RT adds to that experience.

It's not, misleading models were used in this video. 7900GRE is on par with the 4070ti unless you spend an extra $50 for the premium sapphire nitro+ model.
@@anitaremenarova6662 You, are in fact being misleading. The Asrock challenger can achieve even a higher oc than what he ran and it was just on sale for $539
I loved the video, worth the wait. You never disappoint. My 470 TI super gets on average 4 FPS more than the one shown here. It's the tuff oc version. And it sustains around 300-315 watts at max load ray tracing as well. Seems mine just has a much higher power limit, which is enabling more headroom. It does get very toasty though lol. Got to keep an eye on that hotspot. I have both the 7900 XT and the 470 TI super. But I still find myself using the XT more, games truly feel smoother on it. I thought I would use ray tracing but I don't. I loaded up cyberpunk and said "so this is path tracing?" Then I turned it off and preferred high resolution and high FPS lol. You know, depending on the person I feel like ray tracing is oversaturated in argument, and quite frankly extremely overrated. For me personally, I will always choose higher resolution with high frame rate. And to tell you the truth the path tracing in cyberpunk often looked worse than just regular ray tracing. It almost seemed super over the top, like a cartoon. So weird seeing a completely dry street reflecting a colorful light that's really far away from it. The only thing I use the 470 TI super on most is world of Warcraft, It does get a lot more frames per second on there with retracing on. But the XT does very well also, usually nice study 60 frames per second with retracing.
It's toasty tho, gotta keep the side panel off with the otlverclock for it to now get to 95c+ on hotspot 😂 Meanwhile Mac oc 7900xt chilling at 1500rpm 85c max hotspot 63core.
I bought the Sapphire Pulse 7900 xt for 820 euros last black friday and it has performed splendidly, even in ray-traced titles like Avatar. These benchmarks show that I picked well. All AMD builds gain massive performance from SAM + OC. My 7800X3D is a beastly CPU as well.
i have been using my 7900xt for a nearly a year now and I have no complaints regarding instability or performance. I had however massive temp issues because of thermal paste pump out. I believe every card with the larger Navi 31 dies will be affected by early pump out because of the die design and high power limits. I am surprised more people are not talking about this as this will cause hotspot temps to rise very quickly. Within a month I went from 80c hotspots to 98c. RMA will only delay the issue. I had to use phase change pads on mine to get it under control for good. Now it's max 85c at max load with 30% fan speed.
I got the 4070Ti Super after like a month of research and deciding. Ive got the Asus TUF one for MSRP price and so far Ive been really happy with it, pathtracing on Cyberpunk looks awesome and 50+fps with dlssQ at 2K is really okay with me, ive really wanted to try the pathtracing and it looks absolutely awesome, hoping it gets used in more games. Yes the 4080S would be better but unfortunately didnt have more budget at the time and I didnt want to want longer since then I would also want the 7800X3D instead of 7600X and so on. I was fan of 7900GRE even before official global release but the curiosity for RT/PT was too strong. Worth it, Ive had the same "Wow" feeling in CP2077 as when ive first stepped out on balcony in Caer Morhen castle in Witcher3 with my back then new 1060GB PC
My Sapphire 7900xt is blasting, and effortlessly plays AAA games like Control, Ratchet and Clank, and Last of Us at great FPS an cool numbers. $720 and well worth it.

I feel like we are in the age of comically big graphics cards right now, seeing you hold those two cards up at the beginning was hysterical, WTF are the manufacturers thinking.
Great videos! Nobody covers it like you mate! I knew SAM enabled was good but I didn't actually realise what a big difference it makes in some games! Ryzen is a must if have an AMD GPU
The exact 3 cards I'm considering! Seems like the Golden Rabbit has good enough performance for me. I'll do a little more digging to see if there are any caveats with my specific use cases, but I think it's getting pretty certain that it's the one I will get. Helpful video!
The one caveat I would mention from personal experience is if you want to overclock the VRAM on the 7900 GRE. Some models overclock well in this regard, but others don't. For example the Steel Legend 7900 GRE only achieves minimal, stable overclocking, to around or just under 2400 Mhz. Other models can get quite a bit higher than that.
I just bought a 4070 ti super since with my dual monitor setup AMD has just always let me down with crashing and blue screens, they have proven to me multiple tiles over that I cannot trust them. That was the 3rd or 4th time issues I had with AMD cards could not be replicated by Nvidia cards. For me it has been 100% factual, so I have paid the Nvidia tax a couple times now because I won’t go through that again. I’m glad more people don’t have these problems but they are out there. I am one of them. I used DDU and I used it properly. I used so many different cables and setting, new installs of operating system, more than once…still had issues with AMD that I have never had with Nvidia. Great content, thank you. I'm still on 5700 XT, getting ~65fps in Helldivers 2 with "optimized" settings. And since it's only new game I play, I think I wait for next generation. PS: Is there possibility to include Helldivers 2 in future tests?
Hi Fabio, many thanks for this comparison. Using a 7800XT for MSFS VR (Quest) now. Would like having a "little" bit more performance. Thinking about change up to the 7900XT :)
I bought the powercolor 7900xt for £730 in the uk in January and by god what a monster of a card it is. Now to watch the rest of the video…FOR SCIENCE!
I have the 4070 Ti Super, I am pleased with the card. DLSS, DLDSR(especially) and frame generation are all something I always use whenever I can. The extra premium for these features is worth it for me.
An interesting fact: I just checked one popular online shop and it offers 30 different models of RTX 4070 Ti Super and only 12 of RX 7900 XT. It's pretty much the same in different places. When a casual buyer sees this, it's an incentive to buy the card, which has a wider variety of options. I think it has an impact on sales.
Nice video! My 4070 ti superngets 67.1 fps at 4k high cyberpunk instead of 61 in this video. Mine seems to have a much higher power deaw when overclocked. 110power levels. It does lessen that gap quite a bit in some of these results, but still 7900xt is a tough challenge!!
GRE is getting close in price to what I paid for my 6700xt on the tail end of the last mining boom. But I still get 60fps+ at 1440p ultrawide in most games I play so I think I can hold out..... The extra VRAM would be great for D4 though as it eats all 12GB somehow.
Just bought all the parts for my first gaming cpu. I originally planned to go for the 7900xt but I got the 4070 ti super as I don’t have any friends to play multiplayer titles with, I’ll be doing mainly single player games. I do pay a lot of attention to the visuals so that’s really what swayed me. I still have time to cancel my order since the gpu hasn’t shipped yet, which I have considered doing to get the 4080 super.
I have a question regarding the OC Profile you are using for the 7900 GRE. Is it the same that you showed us in your Overclock guide for that GPU, or is it something more specific just for this video comparison?
For a Nvidia RTX 40-series, I feel the RTX 4070 Super and 4090 are you’re only options this generation 🤩🥳🤤as other models offer small incremental performance improvements for example the 4070Ti/Ti Super and 80 class gpus for much more money! 💰💰 As someone who got a RTX 4070 (non Super) a few weeks after launch as an “open box” for $490USD plus local taxes here in Australia 🇦🇺 I’m happy with its value and performance. I also got my RTX4090 at a decent price at launch ….. and gotten much use out of it for gaming and some production needs it’s been worth it imo. I’m normally an 80-class buyer but the 90-class was too a value and offered a decent performance boost over the 80-class this generation.
Hi Ancient Gameplays! Thank you so much for your amazing videos! I received my RX 7900 XT today and it's nothing short of amazing. However, I now need your help. I appear to have won the silicon lottery and really don't know how to get the most out of my gpu. When following your OC/UV tutorial, I ended up with a very easily stable 3200MHz Max core clock and 2600 Mhz fast timing memory clock (didn't try to push memory faster). However, this just results in the card constantly pulling 400W while still running at only 950mV in benchmarks and ~1000mV in CS2 in 4k. Now, I thought I'd try the opposite: using my luck to get more efficiency out of the card. -10% Power target and it still boosts up to 3Ghz in CS2. However, now my card still runs into the power target all the time, but remains at
That seems about right for me if you're pushing such high frequencies (your card has a very high power draw limit btw). I am at this moment editing the tutorial video, I would leave it at 3GHz max and maybe decrease the voltage a bit more as there is no need to "pass the wall" where you get diminished returns for such higher power draw
@@AncientGameplays Thank you very much! My card is a Gigabyte 7900 XT OC. I was very surprised aswell, seeing this beast of a card pull 410W continuosly in 3D Mark tests while remaining at 60-70 Degrees and not being too loud
it seems like you point out more flaws in nvidia than amd, 17:17 you didn't point out the terrible 1% low differences. But at 14:10 you talk about the 1% lows and how it effects gameplay when nvidia is bad.
good eye....amd lack ai cores and rdna3 users have dud ai processor that does nothing at all for fsr3 tech...that is not raising low 1% fps like nvidia cards that use tensor cores for is not only avg fps without ghosting and flickering but also raise actual fps vs amd fake frames by low 1% fps

At what settings did you OC the 7900 XT exactly? 3000/2650 - what mV, fast timings? Power limit? What settings would you prever for performance and which for energy saving?
exactly. I have stated in the previous videos for example, that the 4070 super is a good deal for example, and previously the 4060 was a better deal vs the 7600 non-XT), but in this case the 4070Ti Super needs to be much less expensive
Muito bom, meu foco é fps competitivo, entre RTX 4070ti e RX 7900xt fui de AMD, e tô muito satisfeito, Ray trancing é bonitinho mas derruba FPS em ambos lados. Talvez em um futuro seja uma boa opção.
Its sad to see another card being killed because of pricing. Most of the models are priced at $850+, at that point, its just too close to the 7900 XTX. I checked the best sellers list on amazon and newegg. While one 4070 Ti was in the top 50, after that it just disappears. Where as there are the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX appear several times in the list with different models. I hope Nvidia drops the price to $750 to make sure it doesn't compete with 7900 XTX.
It can compete with it just fine, the 7900XTX crumbles when faced with moderate RT onwards and you're still stuck with massive power consumption and horrendous upscaling.
It’s clear that AMDs iteration of ReBar, SAM, is very well optimised giving Radeon gpus a vg boost in frames 💪🤩and in addition Nvidias driver overhead 🐌🐌sees ReBar being useless pretty much for any performance boost as its driver overhead is imo, hampering ReBar benefits (on Nvidia gpus). @@jonsnow6212My idle wattage is about 20 with two monitors. Watching videos and stuff puts it at about 40.
I have undervolted and underclocked slightly, though.
@@daddymarmalade5499 That wouldn't affect the card when idle though. Good choice btw.
Great comparison video, thank you Fabio! I got the Hellhound 7900 GRE about a week ago. It wasn't exactly cheap in my country (Czechia) but I have to say this particular model is insane. I have never seen such low temperatures 😮
Thank you flr watching and hellhound 7900xts are great indeed
7900gre is crazy value
indeed
I can finally comfortably get into 4k gaming with my GRE.

Still regret not getting one but my 7800xt will be enough for me for a while. I’m making the jump to 1440p soon and can’t wait.
@@MrREAPERszI wouldn't say "comfortably" but 60FPS for 4K high is pretty insane on the sapphire nitro+ model for just $599
hah beat me to it. i just filmed the game footage and was processing the data on the same video but with a 4080 instead of a 4070ti S. The results will be so close to yours that i will return the shadows where i belong. no need for two of nearly the same video.
Good stuff btw
Nah haha, you do you mate!

Been looking for a video like this
Glad I can help
People seem to forget what an impact SAM has on performance.
For some reason SAM causes stutters for me i i dont know why tho
While im happy my 7900xt is godlike i think i would've waited some months for the 7900 gre instead when it came out here in the states. Very impressive what that card is doing for price/performance. I couldnt wait though since i was tempted to get the 7900xt for 710 bucks at the time. Still glad i did
So many people speak highly of the 7900 xt it makes me wonder if it's going to end up the most popular GPU of 2024 when summer rolls in...
I waited for the price to drop here in the UK and picked one up a couple of weeks ago for £620 with 2 free games and I think it's well worth every penny! A lot of people said it wasn't all that for VR but I've not had any issues at all ultra setting on every game through virtual desktop with an old router ethernet directly on the pc and only the quest 3 on the WiFi works a treat and metro awakening looks awesome maxed out 😉
Another great comparison vid, thanks Fabio!
Thanks my friend!
Always go for the deal, both great cards! Congratulations on your purchase 👊
@@Eliminater25 thanks man
Damn which website did you get 12% back with rakuten?
@@rich2579 Dell. There was this deal that if u add a cheap accessory with the card it brought the total down to $740. As for Rakuten they go by quarters so I have my money there but it isn’t scheduled to deposit till in 2 weeks.
I've had the 7900xt for over a year now and I definitely do not regret my purchase considering how good the numbers are for it. I purchased it as a final upgrade for my am4 based build and am hoping it will last me for the rest of the console generation
This is absolutely insane. I never expected the 7900 GRE to be this competitive with the 7900xt and 4070ti S
True, same here
Why not? It's stronger than the 7800xt and the 4060.
@@MrREAPERsz Obviously its a known fact its stronger than a 7800xt and a 4060, but by how much? with OCing and SAM enabled? It wasn't that well known yet.
And It's surprising because its only 550$, so it shouldn't even come close to the performance of the 7900xt and 4070ti S if we're basing it purely off cost
I went with a 7900XT from a RX 3070 and my god the difference between those 2 is just amazing. Absolutely stellar card for playing at 4k like I do. Super glad the 7900 gre is hitting above its weight and is providing power on par with the raster of a 4070 ti super.
It's not, misleading models were used in this video. 7900GRE is on par with the 4070ti unless you spend an extra $50 for the premium sapphire nitro+ model.

Cannot wait for the 9000 series CPUs! Thank you for the content!
Thank you as well!
I loaded up cyberpunk and said "so this is path tracing?"
Then I turned it off and preferred high resolution and high FPS lol.
Yes, your card has higher power limits, this one usually goes to 270w max
It's toasty tho, gotta keep the side panel off with the otlverclock for it to now get to 95c+ on hotspot 😂
Meanwhile Mac oc 7900xt chilling at 1500rpm 85c max hotspot 63core.
@@TheRandomDude-qy1ev my 7900gre never hit over 80c yet so I think I got lucky. 🤣

Great build there
i have been using my 7900xt for a nearly a year now and I have no complaints regarding instability or performance.
Got 4070 Ti Super today, best purchase i ever had, love the Ray Tracing performance
7900 GRE is the go-to, no doubts there. Price/Performance ratio is king!

Glad to help
The one caveat I would mention from personal experience is if you want to overclock the VRAM on the 7900 GRE. Some models overclock well in this regard, but others don't. For example the Steel Legend 7900 GRE only achieves minimal, stable overclocking, to around or just under 2400 Mhz. Other models can get quite a bit higher than that.

@@AncientGameplays maybe now…my last AMD card was a 5700xt and I constantly had issues which magically went away with a Nvidia card. That was the 3rd or 4th time issues I had with AMD cards could not be replicated by Nvidia cards. I am one of them. I used DDU and I used it properly. I used so many different cables and setting, new installs of operating system, more than once…still had issues with AMD that I have never had with Nvidia.
That's normal as nvidia has more market share and more samples

Just bought all the parts for my first gaming cpu. For a Nvidia RTX 40-series, I feel the RTX 4070 Super and 4090 are you’re only options this generation 🤩🥳🤤as other models offer small incremental performance improvements for example the 4070Ti/Ti Super and 80 class gpus for much more money! 💰💰
As someone who got a RTX 4070 (non Super) a few weeks after launch as an “open box” for $490USD plus local taxes here in Australia 🇦🇺 I’m happy with its value and performance. I also got my RTX4090 at a decent price at launch ….. and gotten much use out of it for gaming and some production needs it’s been worth it imo. I’m normally an 80-class buyer but the 90-class was too a value and offered a decent performance boost over the 80-class this generation.
I did 3-4 month of reasearch and decided to get the 7900XT and 6 months later I'm very happy I switched from Nvidia.

Would be interested to see if these gains are maintained in a 7800x3d given the Nvidia driver suite is more CPU intensive

That tuff card looks massive. is it bigger than the Nitro+ xtx?
Yup, quite bigger
it seems like you point out more flaws in nvidia than amd, 17:17 you didn't point out the terrible 1% low differences.
God this video is so biased I wanted to scream lol
I also pointed out some better points of the 4070Ti, when I am writing I am not counting how many times I speak of what, lol. Let's not go bananas, results don't lie though
Biased because...? Maybe because I show factual results with a very comprehensive final thoughts? Uh, sure
wow 7900XT with a little tuning is a true price/perf king!
At what settings did you OC the 7900 XT exactly? 3000/2650 - what mV, fast timings? Power limit? What settings would you prever for performance and which for energy saving?
Will do that video tomorrow 💪
This was quite an excellent showing for the AMD cards. The 4070 Ti Super (terrible name) does well enough, but its price is insane.
