For the amount of work and difficulty beating her, Malenia's great rune shouldn't suck that hard. Also hilarous idea that the whole age of the stars is Ranni trying to find her great rune in space.
Her entire thing is stupid for the effort of beating her you get a mediocre sword that doesn't have the high defense when using it's ability, literally anything can knock you out of it plus it does no damage even boosted. The other option is an incantation that does not real damage is hard to get off and even when it is hit still doesn't do much. The great rune let's you heal when you attack which is only useful for certain builds and shit

Malenia's great rune is blood born rally mechanic but worse as every weapon in Bloodborne it's flash compared to elden ring weapons and it nerfs estus for some God damn reason.
I mean godricks rune is great at the beggining. Once you get to high level malenia rune is infinitely better because plus 5 to every stars have really bad returns once you reached the soft caps in any of the stats that matter to you.
@@raiden3013 while it's true that Godrick's great rune falls of in the late game, it's also true that malenia's great rune it's worthless, as after receiving damage the best action will always be to go back to neutral and malenia's great rune requires you to attack out of hitstun without a care in the world for the millions of attacks enemies are doing to you, if the lifesteal was a passive effect like the greatstars great hammer it would be infinitely better as it allows the flow of combat to continue while giving you an objective advantage.
Rally mechanic in a game where you're too slow to play with enough aggression to use it.
@@JAYbePRINCEthe only gay thing about it is it makes your flasks less effective, which if it was like a blood-borne mechanic You’d still have the effectiveness of your healing. It just means that you can also heal well attacking the enemy. Meaning, if you’re more aggressive and have a more aggressive weapons, it’s better to just go back in for an assault, but hers just says always go in for an assault, despite if it’s a good idea or not that’s what sucks about her rune like sometimes your weapons don’t call for you being super aggressive so of course The detriment of the rune is going to be a big detriment like, if it was the same rune without the fact that it weakens your flasks, it would be a wonderfully useable rune it’s just not

Honestly, I wish this Rune was better because the mechanic works like a dream in BB. If there was a longer period of recovery time and you regained more health it could've been downright busted.

Meanwhile in bloodborne: We killed an absurd amount of chalice dungeon bosses for a blood gem that ain't even suitable for a proper run or it's for an entire different weapon build. But Good thing is, you got plenty to use to mix and match and bypass certain restrictions that some weapons have. Like some cant be infused regularly and blood gems can be that bypass. There not a whole lot of good gems that out do the other. You can say droplets but those are a pain to farm

The other issue is availability. Malenia is usually the last boss people face, so there's no one worth using it on aside from pvp, and going into NG+ gets rid of all of your great runes anyway!
That's why the mightiest of the demigods (radahn) has the best great rune.

Her GR is infinitly better than Rykard's. It's the source of her life steal. This mechanic that allows her to solo entire late game areas with their boss at almost max health.

She didn't beat shit. She threw a temper tantrum at not getting her way and then had her man servant carry her back while she had a nappy. Radahn was probably too confused by this to stop her.

My theory is that she needed it to kill herself.
She only wanted to kill her body, but the Rune of Death is suposed to perma-kill the body AND the soul.
In order to keep her sool safe she used the power of another GR to deflect the soul killing part to someone else, Godwyn being the perfect target.
That's why they "died" at the same time.
Once the murder is done, (Ranni's plans centered around using the GR a tarnished serving her would have collected), she doesn't need a GR anymore and discard it in order to not be targeted by the other demi-gods still in the war.
Bro when I got malenias rune I was so hyped I tried to make a build to kinda match hers using her weapon and all let’s just say I went to pay rennala a visit to pump my point into strength and dropped her rune and shitty weapon

Malenia’s great rune has the some amount of use as me puting a bandage on a stab wound
Malenia's great rune pretty much only works while trading in hyper armor. Her waterfowl dance allows you to take those hits and get the health back immediately, but it's very situational because of it.
I think it would be more sensible to make it give you lifesteal all the time, but reducing crimson flasks effectiveness to essentially nothing. Then you could only heal by attacking, in the same way she functions during her boss fight.
Use blood tax with it. The aow combined with the great rune legit turns the game into BB
Combine it with the godskin swaddling cloth if you want a little more reward for your aggression
meanwhile, I never use those, at first I wanted to save rune arcs, then I realised I don't even need them xD

Thank you I’m glad someone said it. I genuinely love Malenia’s GR paired with that Talisman. I powerstance two Cold Scavenger’s Curved Swords with it too for a disgusting build when playing aggressively.

Radahn's rune is great early game but it drops off later on. Once you level up and hit soft caps in the stats you want, adding 5 more levels to those stats will not do much to help you
Although it helps in the sense that you can level vigor to 55 instead of 60, dex/arcane to 75 instead of 80, 61 strength instead of 66
Then you can put those points into other stats instead
Godricks the ojly rune that boosts damage plus its AMAZING for the scarlet lake since it provides 50 levels worth of poison/skarlet resistance

I mean the estus effect doesnt debuff stack with hornsent helm so ive been running both for the strength and easy recovery, its basically a rykard rune without being useless on bosses

I found out that the new pointy ironing boards(dueling shield) work very good with Malenia great rune, it mitigates the chip damage you get, and you are mostly full health while poking them with that board... it is funny :D spikey turtle 💪🏼💪🏼

Godricks, Great Rune, doing what it does gits his character really well. He's a pathetic demigod who is weaker than all of the others, so he does anything to get even a little bit of power, which includes grafting. So, his great rune giving him strength, which is not his own, fits his character.

I like the idea of Malenia's Great Rune because she's the only shardbearer boss where their rune is like... at all relevant to the fight. Her having her rune is a huge part of her fight (and the only reason she's more than mid-tier difficulty).

Her Great Rune is obtained and activated after almost all relevancy. A tiny percentage of players would actually be able to beat her early enough to use it in the end gauntlet of boss fights.
Oha, I have to honestly say that this is the best big rune in my opinion and this is also the only one I’ve been using for five rounds. I didn’t know it should be so bad for me, that’s the perfectly big rune
I tried giving it a chance, because I thought it sounded cool on paper to have a Bloodborne-esque rally system. But it is not worth it at all. Especially with how much it reduces your crimson flask healing. You can hardly ever regain what you lost and your healing flasks become pitifully weak. Rykard’s is a much better alternative if you want to gain health back from a great rune.

It is complicated to recover all the life you lost, but possible.
Dps aint the trick for this. Just hit harder. But now there is another problem.
Hardest hitting weapons are slow, and fastest hitting weapons (like malenia's hand) is not as strong as a heavy weapon

It’s great healing a bunch of Max HP per hit just like she does in her fight, makes jumping power stance twin blades cause immortality with the 8 hit jump attack

The biggest problem with Malenia's rune is that you have to beat one of the hardest bosses in the game, at almost the end of the game to get it, and great runes don't carry over to ng+ so you barely even get a chance to use it unless you skip a ton of content and just go straight for Malenia, but if you do that then you're gonna have to fight her underleveled.
Legit, her rune is actually busted with Ironjar Aromatic. I cleared everything on the dlc with dancer's build, Ironjar Aromatic and Malenia's great rune, you just hold L2 and facetank everything, its busted.
