If you do preventative maintence any car is good. Many cars come with destined failures for example brz low oil pressure, and also the Cummins intake heater bolt. Take care of it and don’t push it past its capabilities and you will be fine. By the way most cars die from low oil pressure.
I just purcshed a 22 gr 86 and I love it. For now I'm leaving it stock but eventually once it's paid off I'll do a turbo kit like this! Loved the video
Honestly man i want a harrop supercharger kit instead. its the cleanest boosted kit, high quality twin screw core. uses the alternator pulley to pull, no turbo lag. and it basically adds very little weight, its a red or black aluminum intake like the refreshed 1st gens with the supercharger integrated inside. the core is capable of supporting up to about 500-560whp from what i understand.
Have near 40K miles with my SBD Turbo Kit and still holding without issues 2015 Scion FR-S. Are the rods stronger in the FA24 compared to the weak rods in FA20?
They're not necessarily "stronger". They have the same thickness, but the fa20 has a kind of bend towards the top where the piston connect, and the fa24 is completely straight, which makes the rings much less likely to break.
Sure thing! The rods in the FA24 are way tougher than those in the FA20. The FA20 had a bit of a weak spot with its rods, especially if you wanted to push the engine hard. But Subaru stepped up with the FA24, giving it stronger rods that can handle more power and torque. So if you're planning to add some serious horsepower or just want to tune it up, the FA24 is built to handle it without breaking a sweat.
Sub earned. I’ve done all the work myself on my gr86. Including a Harrop SC install. Remote tune is finished. I’ll be getting a header and small pulley next.
Definitely inspiring to see your build! Regarding the simplicity, it reminds me a lot of my old Fiesta st I slapped a bigger turbo on. I have a new BRZ now, and looking to supercharge it one day. Hope to see you around Orlando sometime!
I just got into cars recently. Im trying to learn the ins and outs of them but not sure where to start learning. Currently saving for a brz and now yt recommending me all these brz videos haha
haha you are not wrong, I have them just havent gotten around to putting them on yet, believe it or not, I drove across country from florida to vegas in 2022 for SEMA with the seibon hood and it didnt fly up
Great update and super impressed with how it’s holding up. I have the SME turbo kit on my 23 brz for 3 months now and really love it also. I really baby it cause I’m worried about any issues but I also track my car so it’s gotten a beating. Runs so well and I’m super happy I did it. Seeing videos like this also makes me happy on my choice. Cheers 👍
I agree that putting a turbo on it from factory makes no sense from a business standpoint but also because it changes the car into what it isnt supposed to be. It has a purpose, it does it well, and if someone doesn't understand that, get the supra. Those who want to turbocharge a brz/gr86 and then add a sound system and add sound dampening all over the place and put the car on bags should have just got the supra in the end. The characteristic of the car would start leaning into that car anyways but the supra, from factory, would still be better in most cases. But modding a BRZ to your liking is what the BRZ is all about too so its fine, but just know that the supra exists for a reason. For those that want sports cars with all the extra bells and whistles(aka sports-luxury)

Did you copy paste that from Reddit or did you think of that all on your lonely?
Difference being you can buy a gr86 for like 30k and build it up to smoke a supra for upwards of 45k and still have 15k leftover as a difference in price from a 60k supra while still getting 4 seats and godly handling. Except in snow.... this car cannot do snow on stock tires...
This comment makes zero sense. A turbo brz build is no way near comparable to a new Supra. Completely different builds, motors, handeling, and literally everything else. Like those aren’t even accurate comparisons. If you want a turbo box motor 4 banger, a Supra isn’t the solution 😂 the new Supra paired with that B58 is basically a bmw in sound and feel. The sound and feel of turbo brz is absolutely incomparable.
Still a very different car with very different driving dynamics, but I do agree adding that much weight to the car is a bit redundant, but the power/ weight ratio increase from a turbo is 100% worth it.
Boosted my ND with an Hks supercharger and I’m only putting down ~250whp limited by the aftermarket injectors. Need to rev it out to get all the power. Jealous this platform already has so much power available😅
As much as I’d want to do mines once it’s out of warranty I do enjoy revving it out and hearing that fast smooth boxer engine and exhaust, so I think boosting would get me in trouble lol, that thing looks fast, and I think stock it even feels good. I know I’m not supposed to be racing in the streets but it’s so much fun that you can still do it legally 🤣
haha it can definitely get you in trouble if you let it, I agree that nothing compares to the NA 2.4L, it does really well at giving the driver a fun experience without going too fast
Honestly the brz is in such a perfect state
thank you joe! yes im fairly happy with how it is right now
that carbon fiber hood holding on to its dear life
I have hood pins just havent gotten around to installing them yet haha
@@B_levan my new seibon hood fits just as bunk and jumps around too x.x
I just ordered my P&L for my GR86 like 2 weeks ago. Super excited to see the results.
Which turbo did you go with? I'm interested to see how Phelps garage does with the medium size turbo with the P and L kit
@@Joshold precision something idk but I heard it can handle up to 600hp and I have Graham going to be tuning it.
P&L has been proving to have some amazing results, you're going to love it!
That's over 100,000 kilometers. Pretty good results so far being turbo

yessir! its been holding up nicely for sure!

Smart man
Same, i won’t touch the engine until warranty expires

where were you filming this its really pretty
Dig the current build! Just wanted to say keep up the content. I drive a 2013 brz and always contemplate getting a turbo.
I'll probably eventually forced induction mine, but I'm doing fine with NA for now. The supercharger kit looked really good.
I haven't seen too many supercharger brzs yet that would definitely be cool to see!
That's a super clean widebody kit
Have near 40K miles with my SBD Turbo Kit and still holding without issues 2015 Scion FR-S. Are the rods stronger in the FA24 compared to the weak rods in FA20?
I dont know exactly, but I'd imagine they are because these motors have been proving to be able to handle much more power!

BRZ is a great place to start. And as I'm learning, maybe a great place to end. But I hope Subaru figures out the oil starvation/rtv issues
@@motormusique true hope they figure that out
that's awesome to hear this video is hitting the recommendation page, you're going to love getting into cars, the BRZ is an amazing platform!
That's a beautiful 3rd gen brz.
What’s something like this cost? The turbo and installation?
My turbo gr86 can’t hold stable idle rpm , my tunner say b/c bigger injectors , don’t know about yours ,hard to daily drive
yes i upgraded my injectors and have no issues
Love the update. Still saving to turbo my gr86. Just me or was the background music a little loud at some parts through the video?
Thank you! You're going to love it! I will keep it noted to watch out for audio levels next time, your feedback is appreicated!
How do you think an auto would handle the turbo??
shoujld handle it the same lmfao
From what I have heard even better
Any 2nd gen Turbo kits California compliant ?
Brother you need some hood pins. It’s gonna fly up it looks like in your rollers
haha you are not wrong, I have them just havent gotten around to putting them on yet, believe it or not, I drove across country from florida to vegas in 2022 for SEMA with the seibon hood and it didnt fly up
Austin WAS making 600. The block windowed last week after 11k miles.

It is an argument that can be fought on both sides but from a business perspective i think they took the right approach!

How is the fuel consumption after turbo charging?
What oil velocity are you using oem spec 0W-20?

Trying to decide. Why not go with a supercharger?
Thats a beautiful 3rd gen brz.
I boosted my fa20 brz at 145ks. Still going strong at 190k. Have blown 3 clutches though 😂
Sick car bro!
Thank you!
Link to the turbo kit please. JDL kit with garret turbo?
What wheels are you running? These are gorgeous
these are the anovia carrier 3 piece wheels! they also offer a monoblock form!
The hood: English or Spanish
Yeah was wondering about that 😂
dont move
How’d you fix the drill holes on the trunk?
You should definitely fix your hood!
I noticed you have some hood float lol. Fix it. That gap is letting in a lot of air.
What is the 0-60
I haven't timed it yet but that's definitely something i will have to find out!
@@B_levan yes bro please film a 0-60 there is literally zero videos out there of a boosted gen 2 0-60 and im insanely curious
I dont have any light on with mine.
Speedrun to first brz to 200k miles lol
Watch me
im lowkey not tryna put in hella work modding. is there any place that I could buy a modded brz?
Modding a gr86 requires upkeep and extra maintenance as things will naturally go wrong.
luxray v. A man of culture i see
aaaaaand Chris' fa24 just blew up.
Was his own fault pushing the car while it was slipping

Nothing is smooth about a boxer engine lol
But is it English or Spanish ? 😄
Those specs look like rave bukkake goggles.
just the typical couple of codes bro
yes it was just funny how they were all on haha
