Alex, the oil starve issue on the 2.4 is not due to the RTV. This has been proven already. There is a bunch of content out already that addresses this. See 9000brz, Verus engineering and a podcast by a Canadian time attack driver ( UA-cam channel Driver’s Paddock ) that have discussed this in detail. I see this rtv theory get passed around on social media and it’s just bad information. Fixing the rtv, using a thicker oil and adding an oil cooler will not solve the issue. The oil overfill seems to be the main solution and that’s why verus is developing a larger capacity pan.
Accusump seems to be the only viable option for tracking the FA 2.4 at this point. Faulty oil pickup design. Will void the shit out of your warranty, though.
@@francostrong202 once again, check out content from people who track and log their oil pressures like @9000brz accumsump is not the answer. Overfill and larger cap oil pan is showing the results.

The RTV is not the reason for engine failure. The pickup tube has 5 sides to it, even with one entire side blocked by RTV its been found to still work fine. The boxer engine found in the BR86, along with its weird orientation of the oil pickup tube, causes a lack of oil to be sucked up during cornering, especially for prolonged right turns. Add the fact that it can’t hold much oil to begin with, and you see frequent oil pressure drops that cause damage if done frequently. Not to mention subi engines love consuming oil. Oil consuming engine, flat boxer engine design, low oil capacity = lack of oil in engine. Overfilling slightly has fixed this issue almost entirely, it seems.

RTV ain't it. The oil strainer at the top of the pickup tube is a five-sided screen. Even if the top is fully blocked and sealed, which it never is, oil can still get pumped through the sides.
Back in the day Honda never made a fix for the dseries motor. The aftermarket industry tried but there are just limitations to certain motors, unless you spend major money on oil system upgrades. That’s one reason for motor swaps in Hondas becoming so prominent in among Civics, along with more power, better freeway cruising speeds, and reliability. Sounds similar, again why these have a bunch of swapped motors already.
Lose the boxer engine and I wouldn't mind financing one. Makes no sense to get sodomized by the bank every month to either drive a grenade that might or might not already have the pin removed or spending more money on a car that you're already making monthly payments on.

So do i need a Trueno editoin if I want to learn track driving? Or, are one of the "base" models enough and moddable enough/per cost as my skill improves?
Whether the RTV issues were overblown or not, I went ahead and cleaned it up while I was replacing the oil pan anyway (previous dealer stripped the oil pan threads for the plug). Nice to have the peace of mind that the correct amount of sealant was put on and the pickup was cleaned of any silicone :)
it's not the rtv. the oil pan is simply too small. the volume of oil is inadequate for higher G force turns. the best fix for a stock car is to overfill the motor by maybe like 1 quart or maybe less. if you are tracking the car you are at risk. otherwise driving normally you have nothing to worry about.
@@c.b.7791 Oh, I know. Like I said, it’s just a safety measure. Since I was already replacing the pan, I figured why not just clean up the RTV at the same time? I also overfill the oil by like a quart or so with every change too.
After my Miata got totaled I was looking at a 2016 Subaru BRZ, the chassis to me was impressive but the torque curve was not to my liking. That was it, I ended up with another Miata. We’re lucky to have both cars in the market. Maybe one day I’ll get a BRZ or GR86 with the 2.4 but right now the price difference was just too much compared to the 2.0.

I wish I could buy the car.... With EVERYTHING, but the engine long block. Like I want the pipes and hoses and harness. I'll just put a different 4cyl in there.
And have a worse center of gravity, and remove a safety feature in which the engine detaches and slides under the car in extreme collisions. That festure made the gr86 the only car to get a perfect safety score with the brand new safety ratings in 2024. Nobody ever talks about it though.

I just don’t really like that they named it the GR86. Like i respect gazoo, but I’ve only heard about them when this car and the GR Yaris came out and suddenly they’re all over Toyota. To the point of having a whole model named after them. There was nothing wrong with the name gt86
It’s not really named the gr86 it’s just 86. The gr is not the name it’s just the name of the Toyota performance division, just like the gr supra and gr corolla. They both are still just called supra and corolla.
As other comments have said, gotta stop with the misinformation regarding RTV. Please do your research and don't just go by word of mouth by other media.
It’s dumb to have engine sounds sent through the stereo ,lol, and I don’t want an engine that’s going to blow up because it’s got oiling issues,..I’d rather have an old 240/260z with a built LS motor, or a 2jz ,I’m just not. Fn of weak motors..
You can buy a fairly new 370z cheaper instead of a BRZ/GR86 and it would probably be more reliable also why would you trust Toyota right now they don't stand behind they're sporty cars as in the recent news

@@Treaxvour I'd put a 13b in it. And a full NASA spec roll cage, I'm not worried about safety ratings. Also I think this is the wrong UA-cam channel comments to send these kind of replies. "We" don't care, because we talking racecar
Different rear ends for each model on the new generations was an odd decision to me.
E46 please
Interesting that you don't like the look of the fatter tire on this car. I think 17x9 with 245/40R17's look very good on this platform. The 18's kind of "expose" how diminutive the OEM calipers and rotors are.
Mine spun a bearing at 32k miles and I followed their service intervals, services at the dealer. Lucky for me they are good people and honored my warranty but if it goes again I’m K swapping it fuck it.
Are you going to cover Toyota entering Australia's Supercar Championship with a homologated V8 Supra?
It’s like buying a puppy with a HEART ❤️ Defect ……so , ….* how come they can’t just put a normal gasket.
I would get the new 86/FRS/BRZ but moneys...😬
😆 Its ok i will enjoy them over here 😆
Why didn’t UA-cam show me this video yesterday?
Uh yeah I beat one of these things with my old 03 g35..nice looking car though…
Toyota trd camry v6 is the best v6 in reliability for powering
I just don’t really like that they named it the GR86. Like i respect gazoo, but I’ve only heard about them when this car and the GR Yaris came out and suddenly they’re all over Toyota. To the point of having a whole model named after them. There was nothing wrong with the name gt86
It’s not really named the gr86 it’s just 86. The gr is not the name it’s just the name of the Toyota performance division, just like the gr supra and gr corolla. They both are still just called supra and corolla.
How is it not jdm? It’s 90% Subaru and Toyota parts with a touch of continental
NISMO 370z > GR86
Day 51
How to modify a kei truck
We need 20 mins of useless Kei truck facts
Id like to hate it but I just have to love it😂❤
Rtv will give me oil starvation?
Yall should do a video on the Kia Stinger/Genesis platform.
20 mins on the gr supra
Your wheel specs recommendation is ass and your information about the rtv is wrong. Folks, if you want to keep things small and tight. Wheels specs recommendation would be 18x8 et48 or 45 with 225/40, or 17x8 et48/45 with 225/45.

Selling my stock 13 FRS
