In a certain sense, the Ordinariate Mass and the Novus Ordo are almost the same. Yes there are some rubric differences but when you remove the Common Prayer parts it’s very similar. I think the issue is that the Novus Ordo is not celebrated the same like some ordinariate communities celebrate liturgy. You can celebrate an Ordinariate Mass versus populum, with bad hymns, people receiving on the hand, New offertory prayers etc. but this does not happen. It’s because the communities formed around this Mass are serious about liturgy. A rubric change to the Novus Ordo is unlikely to happen anytime soon, we should be pushing for more traditional practices and options instead.
@@tusolusdominus That's true. However, I do think the Ordinariate rubrics preserve a lot more of the Tridentine prayers (at least when using the Asperges, Prayers at the Foot, and Option 1 for the offertory and Canon). However you're right, Ordinariate communities do understand liturgy better than most parishes.
@@Altare_Dei yeah I agree there are things the Novus Ordo needs to restore. (The offertory prayers difference is crazy lol) but we have so much already present in the current missal that’s traditional already, and no one seems to want to do them sadly.
@@tusolusdominus Unfortunately, I have yet to meet a NO Catholic Christian in real life that actually knows the tenets of their faith, let alone tries to practice it deeply. Instead, I meet people like my good friend and co-worker. His poor parents cared so little for his soul, he'd been baptized into the Roman Catholic Church but, according to him, never once received the Eucharist! Thanks be to God, his girlfriend is being a good influence and has him attending a parish (albeit a novus ordo one). He's dipping his feet in willingly now, and asks me questions about it from time to time, which makes for great conversation. Being an Orthodox Christian convert, I tell him about both the tradition of his birth and the one I've grafted into. I keep it simple and non-polemic, my man doesn't need to hear all the rhetoric when he can barely comprehend the concept of our Triune God as it is. Would it be great if he joined the Orthodox Catholic Church? In my opinion, yes, but he doesn't need someone banging on him with ecclesiology. He needs a friend and the love of Christ to guide him, which I hope he can continue to find in a sinner like me. I pray he can truly partake of Christ when he's ready. Apologies for the blog post, your comment reminded me of him.
Vernacular is based in the Ordinariate because they know what reverence looks like, on the other hand the NO sometimes feels like they dumb it down and are allergic to beauty.
I didn't read the "Ordinariate" part and for a second I thought you had become Anglican lol. Something that I must confess, I started to suspect.. What frustrates me about the Ordinariate (especially in Australia) is aside the fact there isn't a consistent missal among the different communities (ie role of Subdeacon, Psalm 42 etc) and also they seem to be more obsessed with Reaching out too lapsed catholics or "taking' catholics from other parishes rather then mission work out to the Anglicans
God willing I will make a pilgrimage to Walsingham
It's well worth it!
Our Lady of Walsingham, pray for us. Growing up a WASP / Anglican, being in communion with Rome while still able to have this patrimony is a blessing.
I went to the Cathedral in Houston once, and it was one of the most beautiful experiences in my life ❤🇻🇦🏴
They should just turn the Novus Ordo into the Ordinariate Mass without the BCP parts and more Latin
