@@davidmoynahan9585 with Henry Catchpole from Carfection and Matty from CarWow that would be a dream team to get me watching Top Gear again unlike the boisterous stag-do that turned Chris Harris into a punchbag.
Had 6 Jags to date, 2 of which were XF's a Premium Lux and a Portfolio S, both 3ltr and both superb to drive, the latter was noticeably better having 275 bhp and shed loads of tourque. Now driving an XJ Portfolio and it feels even better, handling, performance, economy and looks, an incredible car all round. Jag really have pulled the rabbit out of the hat across the whole range, now offering a serious alternative to the more common German options.
A guy I work with hired one of these and got caught speeding on the motorway in the earlier hours at 122 mph. Said it was very easy to reach that speed. We told him when in prison the first thing you do is pick a fight with the biggest man you can find. Then you will be left alone.
Coventry's finest, big soft spot for any Jaaaaaaag - underrated car, I think a lot of people thought they'd had their day but I would definitely buy one.
Great review, I own a 2017 model and while the car is a fairly complete package, I still think the 2014 model has a better look, and they now have the Audi logic of making you pay for everything, including the rear camera
Don't ya just love the way all Middle market manufacturers are passing off non breathable plastic as, in their words, "All Leather interior" where you find the heat from your back coming back at you 👎
another cracking in depth review outlining the points many of the others miss and a nice injection of your dark humour to boot..... highly enjoyable...
Thanks for your honest review.. I am a massive Jag Fan, but to me the older generation XF (x250) just looks soo much more beautiful. I keep thinking this generation would grow on me, but so far it’s just not been the case.
A nice review. I have a 2015 XF in Portfolio spec and was looking at swapping for a 2nd Gen model. However, Jaguar saw fit to mess about with the spec, and things that were standard on the 1st Gen Portfolio, such as ventilated seats and the 850W Meridian Surround system (which is awesome and well worth having) became options, or weren't available. Yes, the Ingenium engines are better, the car is lighter and looks refreshed, but there wasn't a direct swap for me. The interiors are also nowhere near as good. The steering wheel switchgear for example is all black plastic and looks cheap by comparison. The interior materials are just not the same standard, and the XE was also a real disappointment. If punters have the money and aren't obsessed with ridiculous number plate snobbery, go for an earlier 3 litre V6 XF Portfolio rather than a 2nd Gen of a similar age with reduced spec. I love your videos BTW.
VFR Bore - I have the same age /spec XF as you and was quite disappointed in the X260. The interior is very poor in comparison to the earlier model. What looks like an upturned dog's feeding bowl in the centre of the steering wheel would really annoy me.
Funnily enough I recently bought a 2013 XF in this Caviar purple, and specifically sought the color for its rarity. I sought out and chose the earlier model because it is just a nicer quality experience - as much as I like Jaguar, I find the penny pinching too evident in the 2016 plus models. You notice it in many areas, but stylistically the hood that no longer pours over the grill, but instead has a straight edge that stops short, splitting the hood and grill in a cheap manner. As well, the earlier design had wider hips and gave the car a more sultry, sporty look, versus the newer, streamlined body that looks more pedestrian. Same with the tail lights - they now match the F-Type, but lack the smooth integration of lights with the chrome accent that was quite elegant. The exhaust tips went from integrated shiny ovals to cheap looking circle cut outs. Another feature I use often is the ability to open any of the four doors since they all have unlock buttons. Inside, as mentioned, you get the motorized center vents, and the gear selector is a metal affair, not a flimsy plasticky piece. It has yet to get old to see all the 'strom and drang' as you fire the motor and the car comes to life. The dial is also off center to be closer to the driver - a small detail that was probably removed for cost, but also makes it less special imo. Other small details, like the seat controls that are color matched vs black (for power seats), or the quality of the leather, and the fact that after 2015, more of what you touch is hollow or hard plastic vs soft-touch, leather, or metal. I know the new chassis is aluminum and thus lighter, but I think there's something to be said for a feeling of heftiness, especially in a car that is not a sport car first and foremost, but a luxury ride. In the USA, I think the 2012-2015 MYs are the sweet spot for the updated styling and old-school investment dollars (thanks Ford!), with 2012 being extra special as you could get V8s commonly still. With each iteration from the original, the special character of the XF has been whittled away, and not always for the better. Oh and compared to the BMWs and Audis? The XF is much more special, as the Germans have also become effused with cheap plastic in addition to being as common as Camrys..
Great video. I have wanted a Jag since I was a 7 year old child but due to wife, kids etc I have never been able to get one in the right spec that I could afford. I am now in my 50,s and will be getting a Jaaag this year. My only choice is an XJ or an XF.
I have the earlier xf and even after 2 years with it the theatre at start up still makes me smile 😃. The premium luxury spec comes with some nice extra touches too.
I bought the XF R sport. Black, no chrome, piano black plastic and black and grey leather seats. I've been waiting for you to review this for ages. One gripe is in low gears and it does get a little confused..everything else is a joy..cheers bud 👍
I went off Jaguars after my last X-Type and changed to BMW and Audi's but now on these more open roads I can see where the likes of this car could give someone pleasure driving - Cheers Matt for sharing.
Great review! I bought a 2013 xf recently with 79K miles - car looks brand new and drives really well (though I agree with the engine sound comment). Fuel consumption is much higher than suggested (late 30's for urban and mid-to-late forties for extra urban. But still, a lot of car for the money!
I’m after another car in the summer. I’m in two minds whether to stick to a smaller sensible hatchback or go back to my younger days & get something bigger, powerful & more luxurious before they take it all away from us. Your brilliant reviews are making me veer towards my younger days.
I own a 2018 FX x25 AWD. Much better than my previous Audi a6 and Beemer 5 series! Reliability, I would give it an 8 out of ten (check light came on a few times). Driving experience, better than the said cars I have owned! I recommend buying one with at least 1 year warranty, petrol and AWD! Great looking car!
You have one of the best youtube channels about cars. You are very easy to listen to and you are very spontaneous. I'm glad you don't overdo it with the angles of the shots and the post-production. Great job !! Greetings from Serbia!
I wanted a jag all my life but they were beyond me but now l am again single l bought an xk8 convertible which I absolutely loved, now at 74, l drive an XKR 4.2ltr v8 supercharged version and it is by far the best car I have ever driven.
I bought the XF Rsport 2016 new in Blackberry metallic. I still only have 23K miles on it but it’s still great. I had the 2011 Xf premium with the naturally aspirated V8 and the new one is better in every way!
I've had a Mark 1 62 plate for the last 2 years and put 34k miles on it. I still think they look better inside and out than the Mark 2 only shame is the slow infotainment screen. TBF though it is Metallic Grey with Black Leather on Factory 19's so it has presence, after all it is a Jaaaaaag
Yep mines similar. It's a 12 plate premium lux in black with the black leather upholstery. The dated infotainment system is pretty sluggish and the built-in sat-nav is shocking. Still, it's no deal-breaker as it's very simple to use, and I bought the car simply for its elegant looks and incredibly luxurious interior rather than its fancy gizmos. I just use Google Maps through the phone to find my way around. Overall, despite the odd annoying thing like the hesitant ZF box and the lack of rear-seat space, It's a far nicer and more rewarding car to own than any Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, or BMW I've been in.
@@TheWhiskeyMan-rk7qv I think most people use the sat nav from their phones, I changed to Waze as its on a social media type platform and is real time as people can report on it warnings ie floods, potholes even Police, so handy on a quiet stretch of the motorway, I only use the inbuilt sat nav as a backup if im going somewhere remote or into a city with tall buildings.
@@randomxnp ... Our second car is a 68 reg Mercedes Benz A200 which has the all singing all dancing MBUX Sat-nav. I'm not overly impressed that either and find the mobile phone Sat-nav is still far quicker to respond in difficult driving scenarios, plus speed camera and heavy traffic warnings. Also, I too don't see any point in forking out £100 or more to update the Jaguar one to 2020. Especially when I can just ask Google assistant for directions via my voice, instead of fannying around on the slow 8yr old touch screen whilst not watching the road and potentially causing a motorway pile up. Yes, in built sat-navs have come a very long way in the 15 or 20 years they've been around, but I don't think they're quite there yet. Saying that, I've heard the Audi and Tesla ones are really good.
@@randomxnp ... Yes, some of them do in the form of Apple car play & Android auto. Just hook your phone up to the infotainment system via usb, and you have Google maps on the infotainment screen. I used this feature on a rented 2016 Opel Corsa in Alicante Spain and it was brilliant. Going back to my Jag, I recently used the Sat-nav as an experiment to see how far the technology has come in just a few years. It probably would've been an ok system back when it was new, but in 2020 it's hideously outdated.
I bought a 2016 XF a month ago and I love it. I don’t need a car this size but, as you say, I prefer the shape to the XE. I could have bought a similarly specced Infiniti Q50 for 5k less. But every time I leave my front door and look at it I smile and look forward to the drive ahead.
Just bought an Jaguar XF, 2018 model. Very smooth and looks amazing, even tho I have the 2.0 Litre Diesel, it's no slouch. Obsidian black colour is solid stunner, got the beige interior same as in the video. 53k Kms driven only, cost 25k Euros. Solid deal.
I fully agree The first generation was like a gentleman's club lounge, but with some neat cutting edge treats This 2nd gen looks a bit ,class below interior bits that your not meant to touch or look at
I know the colour might not be to everyones taste, but I actually really like this colour and interior combo. Never Owned one, but before I got the 5 series I very nearly bought an XE. Since Jag revamped their lineup the cars are a lot more appealing. So many manufacturers turning things around recently. Peugeot, Jaguar, Volvo Alfa Romeo, and dare I say it even porsche with things like the Macan. Damn I need to win the lotto so I can own more cars!
I looked for almost a year to find a nice example in this color. The planets must have aligned because ultimately I had my choice of an XJ or XF in this caviar purple.
Love my 2010 XFR. The 2nd best feature behind the 510 HP is Jaguar's legendary depreciation! I was originally shopping for a 2013 XFR so I would get the 8-speed, but found a deal I couldn't pass up on a beautiful Kyanite Blue 2010. Maybe I'm biased, but the newest models aren't as distinctive as the earlier ones - they don't look much different than many other cars.
Good and honest review. Ive got a 2016 XF-S and its a fantastic car, my 6th Jag. Unfortunately its just had a steering rack failure, at 28,000 miles thats cost £4k to repair. A bit of an eyewatering bill, but to put it in perspective, its had no other faults in 4 years. Even so, having to keep it a bit longer to justify the cost is no great hardship. Keep up the good work with your UA-cam channel.
I also own a 2016 XF-S. I absolutely love it! The torque is amazing. However I have just been quoted £2.5k to fit a new turbo! I've only done 2k miles since I bought it so I feel a little miffed. I've opted for a second opinon though. Apart from that....it is a beautiful car.
Did five or six thousand miles in a 240bhp XE and was extremely impressed. Plenty of go, lovely ride and handling and good economy. The car that stopped me hating diesels.
I agree on the interior. When they came out, I was shocked at how cheap and shonky the materials were. I found build quality on the ones I tried to be very average and in some cases, terrible. Bad panel fit, misaligned trim, loose interior fittings, poor finish etc. The previous XF wasn’t perfect inside, the centre console in particular was cheaply executed, but it looked and for the most part, felt like a luxury product. Even if the reality was that it was only really veneer deep. But the X260 version doesn’t even offer that. You’re right, it’s a Ford Focus level interior on a car that’s priced as a luxury car. Not hard to see why they’re not selling when you couple that to the poor pricing, bland looks, underwhelming Diesel engine and meagre specification.
There could be third option at the post office - an old guy in chinos, Panama hat and a sawn off! Again great insight into the XF, which I like, just need JLR to finish the car off and sort out that annoying engine noise.
Yeah, the design of the whole car is clichéd, almost to an insulting degree, but I can't help but take a shine to the S type. Especially in the light blue colour.
Like my S-type too. It spends more time in the overtaking lane than it perhaps should. It really is an odd car but if you don't mind paying the fun tax it will always put a smile on your face.
Just catching up with your videos having recently come across them and am considering buying my first XF as a result. I am 61 (definitely no chinos or Panama hats) and this would be my first Jaguar. I will have about 10k to spend so hope I can get a decent one for that. Keep up the great work 👍
I've owned a 2016 F R-Sport 3.0 since 2019 and it's now at 91,000km. Honestly I can't say enough about how much I love and respect this car - been a rock sold daily driver with almost no issues outside a nagging rear camera issue and a couple leaks at 85,000km. Looks amazing, tons of power, wonderful handling, and I always look back at it when I park at the grocery store. Love modern Jags, it's just a shame they ditched the V6 and are moving to EV now - I will be hard pressed to replace this car with anything near as engaging.
Been looking at trading in my 2013 3.0 D-S Portfolio in Italian Racing Red, ivory interior (sorry), 20" black wheels, sunroof, black pack - beautiful! - but sadly the later version just doesn't do it for me, styling-wise. I could be tempted by a V6 petrol in the right colour, MPG doesn't really matter to me (retired), and what the hell, you only live once! Recently returned from a week in Cornwall, 810 miles (I'm in Lancashire), 39.1 mpg, never exceeded 95 mph, heaven knows what mpg I'd get from a petrol engine! Spud, age 72, old fart, love driving! Love your channel and your attitude.
Yes..the plastic interior kept me from buying this car,,the doors on a entry level Toyota are nicer.. Fortunately the 2021 jags have been re styled, much better
We test drove a MK2 XF Sportbrake back in Jan. We loved the way it looked, drove etc. but the real dealbreaker for us was the interior. It just felt like it had been the recipient of some serious cost cutting, and felt cheap and tinny. The interior was almost a step back from the MK1 in terms of quality to be honest. Either way keep up the good work Matt, loving your videos!
I used to drive the old XJ6 & XJ12 back in the early 80's, such comfort and ghostly quiet on a run but reliabilty was a concern mostly because owners could not afford the maintenance. Glorious cars.
"...look like good value". They sure do and I'm sooo tempted but having never owned a Jag am very scared of the reliability stories... Keep up the great work Matt.
Well, I'm an ageing golfer and I think this Jag is beautiful - great colour inside and out and no ugly "privacy" glass. The only downside for me is that, regardless of how you spec the interior trim, you have to put up with that cheap silvery looking slab of whatever on the passenger side dash.
@@HighPeakAutos Nope - you can specify walnut trim but it wouldn't change that silvery slab on the dash. I think you'd have to visit a specialist to have it changed.
Excellent reviews. Top gear lost the plot years ago although great entertainment, Your reviews are real world and interesting across all ranges. Your charisma is spot on easy to listen too and honest opinions. Thank you, keep up the good work.
My experience of drivers dumping an elderly Jaaaag outside the Post Office is either heading off for a new tax disc or ensuring his photo fit has been removed from the wall gallery. Great review thank you :)
I must have some chinos and a Panama hat somewhere because my 16 plate XF 2.0D is identical to the one you are driving. The colour (Odyssey Red / Latte leather) combination looks smart IMO. I previously owned a 2013 Mk1 2.2D Sportbrake. Differences:- the engine is chalk and cheese compared to the old tractor engine. Smoother and far more punch. Combined with a huge weight reduction due to the use of aluminium panels, performance is much improved and economy is far better. Over 42,000 miles in the old car I averaged 35 mpg. I drove the new car home from Poole , 331 mile and, averaging 61mph, returned 54mpg. That included a long spell of stop /start just after joining the M1 from the A43. Extras mine came with include electric seats with driver memory and electric folding mirrors., rear view camera - which I would highly recommend. Can't agree about the quality of the rubber around the volume control or the control stalks - they are fine.. Infotainment system better than the Mk1, still a long way behind the best of the Germans - but adequate.
Update. After almost 2 years of ownership, I like this care more and more. Ride and handling are great. And (despite your rude comments) I still like the colour and interior. Economy has proved excellent at a consistent 41-42mpg over 15,000 miles. Measured by brimming the tank and not on the trip compute which is about 10% optimistic. Large boot space and good legroom in the rear now. One downside still the road noise which is too high for a car of this class - your really notice the quiet on those new smooth tarmac surfaces on some roads. Would definitely recommend this car
Had a 600km spin in an XFS with the V6 back in 2017. Was surprised at how quiet it was. Bit disappointed by that, but plenty of power for long motorway miles.
I've test driven an XE and been in a new XF and honestly you can't fault the way they drive but you're absolutely right the simply don't feel as special as Jags of the past plus the engine options are bit lacking in comparison again with jags of the past
My brother bought one couple of weeks ago. It's got a similar front end but older interior 2013 model. Only seen it once not really had a chance to look at it properly or drive it. It's a 2.2 200bhp model can't wait to drive it when I get a chance
I own a 2016 XF-R and I can say that I'm verry happy with it . The engine is great , gearbox is quick enought , depending on how heavy your foot is , the MPG is good , overall I can't complain of anything so far . The only anoing thing is that the fron Bonnet release lever is on the passenger side and it took me 15 min to find it when I first bought the car 😅
Love these, and i like that colour, just so different from the German cars its up against, looks classy, and refined. Would love one of these but still quite pricey , great review as usual.
Nice car, but I much prefer my facelifted MK1 XF. It looks more elegant both inside and out, and the interior is far more high quality and luxurious. I do like the mk2, it's a very good all-rounder. It just lacks the magic that the MK1 had. If you're struggling to choose between the old and new, I'd say go for a top of the range MK1 with low miles. It'll cost you the same as an entry level MK2, but you'll be far more in love with it.
“Chino and Panama Brigade. Interior is beige, obviously.” Brilliant. Several seconds of video of the cupholders @ 3:39! Be still, my beating heart! It’s okay, I’ve taken a screenshot and it’s now my desktop wallpaper. I had no idea that the windows being slightly bigger would let in more light. I’m learning such a lot here. Thanks for giving me yet another laugh, Matt.
Just bought a 2009 3.0D XF which is lovely. I hired an e-pace a few years ago which had the 2.0 240hp thing turbo diesel and really didn't like it. You'd put your foot down, get nothing, then loads of power followed by a really hard kick down on the gears. Made setting off quickly horrible. Found myself having to drive it smoothly and slow.
I've been looking at one of these as my next car, it ticks almost every box for me. If I were to get one I would definitely go for the Werthers spec, and I'm barely old enough to be a millenial. 17" or 18" wheels because the 20" will just ruin the ride (the 17" 15 spoke wheels look great to me, which are the ones on your car), black paint, black dash "latte" interior, walnut trim (which means I'll have to go for portfolio spec). Manual's only available with the 2L single turbos, so I'll be locked to that, which is a shame I'd pick the 3L as well otherwise. Meridian system for sure, seems to be a common option on used cars which is nice. I'd go for one with real gauges too, I think all-screen gauges are kind of nasty and I prefer real instruments from a aesthetic point of view, and they will probably age very poorly (my dad's W213 E-class, which I drive occasionally, has them). There's actually a XF for sale in almost that exact spec on autotrader (dark red paint instead of black, dark brown dash instead of black, but everything else is good), and I could afford it up front if I liquidated most (80-90%) of my stocks, but that's probably a bad idea since I've managed to put together a very undervalued portfolio... And I doubt my credit's good enough for a reasonable interest rate cash loan, so yeah, maybe next time. If I had to make any observations I'd say the screen's a little low down, I prefer the screen to be up nice and high so I don't need to take my eyes off the road to look at the navigation. Not really a problem most likely, since I'd be using waze and I could just stick my phone above the vents.
So good looking in portfolio spec. These vids remind me of top gear before they got ridiculous. Providing useful information for people that enjoy their cars. If a Peugeot 508 pops up in the future it would be cool to see your take on it.
I have followed you ever since you did a review on the Rover 75 had one 13 years and loved it. Good review very funny. But all good things must come to an end. So one the strength of your review I have just gone out and brought a 68 Reg XF 25T in Ammonite Gray with black pack. Very low mileage. It is the dogs bollocks. They're all you say and more. Looks ace fun handling on roundabouts in the snow side ways a great 8 speed auto or flappy paddle gearbox driver modes lots of menus on the dashboard to scroll through and remote start warm up and lots of other stuff. Thanks for the heads up. This was always going to be my halo car you fired me up to just get out there and do it. I have no regrets. Staywell.
I was not aware of a new model (MK2). My ex-colleague had a white V6 diesel that I once had on a 400km trip and to be honest and with NO knowledge of the brand, I did not want to get stop driving.
I drove this JAG...it looks stunning, but that diesel engine And price of 72 k € Just didn't go along. Anyway, great review. I think you Will agree that this JAG(with diesel engine) ,lacks of character. My Lancia Thesis has fully electric seats, even headrests...and steering wheel, And glove box button is electric...5 cylinder diesel engine has a sweet sound, you barely can hear it...it feels more luxurious than most of the New luxury cars...it s a shame how greedy carmakers have become. They charge you even 10 l bigger fuel tank(MB)🤣
I have this with the 3 litre V6, the mileage is good and has some real poke when needed. Some people say the 3L is the better engine as it runs at lower revs when cruising so is more economical than the 2L…… not sure on that but it’s a great car to drive.
Hello. Just to say that l enjoy your videos. Watching your jag video made me smile as l have one . Could you let me know if you would change the cam belt on a 2013 xf diesel with 46000 miles. I have always had it serviced at Jaguar main dealer. I am debating whether to have it done. Thankyou
I absolutely love the XF!! I would certainly prefer it over the XJ not because the latter is rubbish (on the contrary, it's the most beautiful car ever made) but because it's available with the 4x4 traction as well as the 2 litre diesel with 179 HP!!! And you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT Matt when you say it's MUCH BETTER than the A6, 5 series, E-Class and even the S90 and the ES 300h!! I've always firmly believed in the JLR group, contrary to my father which has always tended to the german ones because he has ONE PARTICULAR PREJUDICE I can't actually stand; he hates the fact that the prestigious british group has been owned for 12 years by the Tata Group, which is indian!!!! He doesn't care much about cars!!! You, being an expert, can probably tell that reliability has definitely improved since the indians took over!! If I bought a used Jaguar............. I'd definitely go for the XF sedan you're showing here with the Portfolio version!!! But........ Recalling that I own a BMW 3 series G20 at the moment.......... After asking you a piece of advice on what to choose among a V90, an XF and a Lexus LS........... I'm really considering (buying it used within 3 years after huge depreciation)................ The RANGE ROVER SVAUTOBIOGRAPHY LWB!!!!! WITH THE 3 LITRE DIESEL!!!!!!!! 😁😁😁✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️ Have you ever driven one? Thanks for keeping me interested in JLR alternative models as well as other fine luxury cars!!! Peace 😁
3 great choices depending upon what your preference is. The Volvo is a nice SUV, but has the worst reliability out of the group. I almost bought and s90. I owned a Lexus ES 350: beautiful car, fully loaded, and smooth ride. My sister has an LS. Now, honestly, I was going to buy another Lexus because mine was totaled. Then, I went to BMW, Mercedes, and Audi which took me back to Lexus. The dealership just happen to have a Jaguar. I loved the exterior, but when I sat in it and started the engine, I was in love. I drove it and knew that this was my car! It's a beast! The best drive I've ever had! I have a XF R Sport 35t which isn't made anymore. News ones have better gas mileage. No issues! It's fully loaded and I didn't have to pay for it. It was a lease. Still has warranty 5/60,000. All maintenance is free. Same with Lexus. 4/50,000.
@@traceyglenn3631 hi there! The V90 is a touring actually, not an SUV! As for the rest, I'm really heading towards the XF!! Great car! The 2 litre diesel with 180 HP is enough!! Anyway it's good the maintenance is free, in your case 😁
08:50 I've been to look locally and online and, although you have recommended it, I cannot find any models in the UK with the "Arse-Port" - do you have any pictures of the "Arse-port" so I know what to look for?
Hi Matt I once had an jaguar xj6 gold on a 1992 k plate in that colour with cream leather seats and I loved it when it’s cleaned and polished it looks really smart hope you’re well best wishes ian, are you doing a video on the supercharged Range Rover you have?
Totally agree, modern Jags are fantastic! After the 06 XJ I had, despite the problems I had with it, I’d 100% have another one, was a great car. The XE I hired a few years ago, wow, amazing. XF looks much better now it’s been facelifted but, those wheels, really not very nice to look at! Fab review, as always
I much prefer the X250 to the X260 - and not just because I have a facelift X250. The newer model is definitely 'cheaper' all round and neither the interior or exterior styling can match the earlier car in my opinion. The spec is also lower across the range with plenty of omissions when compared to the earlier model. Close, but no cigar .....
Haha, I guess I fall in the chino and Panama brigade, although I have never worn a Panama! I recently watched a video on a similar Aubergine coloured Bentley Turbo R, and I must agree with that presented when he said that not many cars look good in this "Royal Purple" hue....this is all right, but yes, red looks quite impressive on an XF. Typically, I do not like red cars, but Jaguars almost always look magnificent in red. But when I buy a car, I want it to impress me, and not bystanders and other motorists. If they think Jaguars are unreliable, I say "whatever" because then you can pick up a decent one for minimal outlay, Thank you for sharing your impressions and opinions on the XF as it is extremely helpful to me in making a purchasing decision. Cheers, HPA!
Enjoying your presentations, they stand out against so many others. Have you done a review on the Mondeo Estate? I’m particularly interested in the petrol automatic. Your thoughts please.
Great review! I have a 2015 old shape XF and the new model doesn't do it for me, I am not keen on the dashboard! However, the 3.0d V6 S is pretty rare and sought after. Hopefully you get one of those at some point and review it. A definite class leader but not for the masses.
My in law had the original xf in 2009 and the first face-lift xf in 2012 in a cherry red with the black pack and a 3 litre v6 diesel. He has had a 5 series and an e class and he is adamant that the xf was the best of both worlds as you got the drive feel of the BMW and the comfort of the e class and is the best car he has ever driven. Would be good to see a review of the first face-lift model Sport brake in the S spec if you ever get one.

Totally Agree. Always fresh, pinch of humour, no waffling.amd every point is well made and all is covered for everyday consumer like fuel economy etc.
@@Alexander_l322 totally right!!
I agree. I love them
The "outside the post office" description of whose car it may be was brilliant.
Haha thanks
A guy I work with hired one of these and got caught speeding on the motorway in the earlier hours at 122 mph. Said it was very easy to reach that speed. We told him when in prison the first thing you do is pick a fight with the biggest man you can find. Then you will be left alone.
when im angry i watch some of his videos and make me feel good again, some quind of therapy ...and good vibes
Haha thanks
Coventry's finest, big soft spot for any Jaaaaaaag - underrated car, I think a lot of people thought they'd had their day but I would definitely buy one.
I agree. I'm glad thats not the case
@Jurassic Coast Comics I think it's time for your medication and a lie down in a darkened room.
It’s a beautiful car with understated styling, which is something I personally like. Great honest and thorough review as always 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
My chest was in pain after that “older golfers and free masons” comment
Haha Cheers
Great review, I own a 2017 model and while the car is a fairly complete package, I still think the 2014 model has a better look, and they now have the Audi logic of making you pay for everything, including the rear camera
Don't ya just love the way all Middle market manufacturers are passing off non breathable plastic as, in their words, "All Leather interior" where you find the heat from your back coming back at you 👎
another cracking in depth review outlining the points many of the others miss and a nice injection of your dark humour to boot..... highly enjoyable...
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for your honest review.. I am a massive Jag Fan, but to me the older generation XF (x250) just looks soo much more beautiful. I keep thinking this generation would grow on me, but so far it’s just not been the case.
You've got a point there: the MK1 XF (X250) feels and is more special. That's why I own a 2014 XF and have never considered buying the MK2 (X260).
@@zsb707 face-lift?
@@christemple1495 Yes 👍.
I absolutely love mine
Just my two penny worth. Tried this year XF , bmw 520d and Audi A5 3.0 tdi sline. The Audi was ALOT better to drive and cheap as chips to run.
Great video. I have wanted a Jag since I was a 7 year old child but due to wife, kids etc I have never been able to get one in the right spec that I could afford. I am now in my 50,s and will be getting a Jaaag this year. My only choice is an XJ or an XF.
I've got the 2012 XF premium luxury 2.2 D and the interior is far more up market. It also has 200 BHP
XFR-S Sportbreak; the best bang-for-buck estate car on the market.
I will only buy an XF if it has retractable air vents
Thanks! I appreciate it :)
Same. I would have preferred a cream leather interior to be honest, but overall I love the car. I went for the 3.0 V6 235bhp model.
I used this feature on a rented 2016 Opel Corsa in
Alicante Spain and it was brilliant.
Going back to my Jag, I recently used the Sat-nav as an experiment to see how far the technology has come in just a few years. It probably would've been an ok system back when it was new, but in 2020 it's hideously outdated.
You have indeed found your place in life. You inform, you make one laugh............what's not to love.
Thanks
Greetings from Sweden! You're definitely one of the best on UA-cam.
One of?
Tack!
Solid deal.
I have a 16 plate XF. It looks great from the front. Drives very smoothly. I have the manual version..
I fully agree
The first generation was like a gentleman's club lounge, but with some neat cutting edge treats
This 2nd gen looks a bit ,class below interior bits that your not meant to touch or look at
I agree
I know the colour might not be to everyones taste, but I actually really like this colour and interior combo. Never Owned one, but before I got the 5 series I very nearly bought an XE. Since Jag revamped their lineup the cars are a lot more appealing. So many manufacturers turning things around recently. Peugeot, Jaguar, Volvo Alfa Romeo, and dare I say it even porsche with things like the Macan. Damn I need to win the lotto so I can own more cars!
As soon as you can, just buy an XF with the 2 litre diesel with 179 HP Portfolio or Prestige! You won't be disappointed
I looked for almost a year to find a nice example in this color. The planets must have aligned because ultimately I had my choice of an XJ or XF in this caviar purple.
@@MECUXD the color is......... Aubergine 😂
@@davideselvi3906 Here in the USA, the catalog color is Caviar, for the 2012-2015 at least.
@@MECUXD One can understand the name change for the USA... "I own an eggplant Jaguar XF" doesn't have an attractive ring to it!!!
You're not biased, you're correct about that 👍
I’ve watched a few of your videos, It’s good you spend money on cars before selling. Many used car dealers don’t do that.
Rented a gen2 when on hols to the UK, drove it Scotland to Wales and back, very very nice car. Super comfortable
Very nice!
Arrrrrrrgh you’ve done it again! I’m all over auto trader now!😉
You are 100% right - the 3.0S is the one to go for - the diesel is just superb.
You had me at Werther's Spec!
Best line ever 😆
Haha Cheers
That was genius!
Love your reviews
I am thinking of getting one, and you tell me everything I need to know in an thorough and entertaining way.
There could be third option at the post office - an old guy in chinos, Panama hat and a sawn off! Again great insight into the XF, which I like, just need JLR to finish the car off and sort out that annoying engine noise.
You like the S type?
Yeah me too !
Yeah, the design of the whole car is clichéd, almost to an insulting degree, but I can't help but take a shine to the S type. Especially in the light blue colour.
As a Jag Rover technician in the states. I DESPISE the infernal S Type. JUNK!
@@CatBroiler Yes, my 07 is in a beautiful blue frost over cream leather.
Like my S-type too. It spends more time in the overtaking lane than it perhaps should. It really is an odd car but if you don't mind paying the fun tax it will always put a smile on your face.
Tragic Old Hipster always love getting back in my s-type from my xe. It’s just a different animal that (no pun intended)
I just bought one, 2016 Portfolio, and I love it! Except the large pillars which make it difficult to see out of sometimes. I'm getting 52+mpg.
You gotta love a Jaaaaaag, the update to the exteriors and new models is spot on but I find the interiors so under whelming...
Yes thats right
Yes..the plastic interior kept me from buying this car,,the doors on a entry level Toyota are nicer..
Fortunately the 2021 jags have been re styled, much better
You are definitely the best reviewer on UA-cam would love a Jag but just out of reach for my budget! Keep up the excellent work 👍🏼
Alessandro Ferrero Thanks! That means a lot. Cheers
I agree. You've got to go for a high spec before they start to feel luxurious
I have been thinking about replacing my 10 year owned X-Type with an XF, but I have been put off by news of timing chain issues. Like the videos.
0:53 What a gorgeous machine I’m buying one at 17
Well, I'm an ageing golfer and I think this Jag is beautiful - great colour inside and out and no ugly "privacy" glass. The only downside for me is that, regardless of how you spec the interior trim, you have to put up with that cheap silvery looking slab of whatever on the passenger side dash.
I’m sure you could specify walnut instead of the silver trim
Hahaha
@notformebeaky in comparison to the previous gen and what the competition offers is rather lacking I'm afraid
Hmm very tempted. A dealer close to me has a nice example. Thanks for the review 👍
Love these, and i like that colour, just so different from the German cars its up against, looks classy, and refined. Would love one of these but still quite pricey , great review as usual.
Jaguar XF - R is my pick of the range.
Well said, Sir!
Hahaha Glad I can help
"Full on Werther's spec" a classic quote.....
Found myself having to drive it smoothly and slow.
thats the video i waited for !! thanks man
No problem!
Very good points
I have a sportbrake, really impressed with it, previously owned a 520 touring, am I an oldie at 50 and gracefully embrace the jag club? 😁
So good looking in portfolio spec.
These vids remind me of top gear before they got ridiculous. Providing useful information for people that enjoy their cars.
If a Peugeot 508 pops up in the future it would be cool to see your take on it.
The new 508 is a great looking car.
Thankyou
I love that burgundy metallic personally
From launch they offered a 3.0 supercharged petrol on the S trim. I had one and thoroughly recommend that option.
I've never driven one of those but I imagine I would like it
I absolutely love the XF!! Peace 😁
@@randomxnp nice to hear it! I'll keep that in mind! Thanks! Effectively, the Bentley is not luxurious......... It's OPULENT!!!!!
A 2 litre diesel with that output has been available for years
3 great choices depending upon what your preference is.
Richard Jackson Look at most Audi’s. You’ll find them there. Driving.
It’s right at the bottom !
hahaha I cannot say R Sport now with a straight face
@@HighPeakAutos 🤣
Always look forward to another 9 pm video. Keep them coming...!
Thanks! Will do!
Hi Matt I once had an jaguar xj6 gold on a 1992 k plate in that colour with cream leather seats and I loved it when it’s cleaned and polished it looks really smart hope you’re well best wishes ian, are you doing a video on the supercharged Range Rover you have?
Possibly. Cheers Ian :)
Another great video, I have a 2012 XF 2.2D luxury…..I’d love you see a review of that engine 🙏🏻
My favorite youtube channel by far. High class. Will be fun to watch your channel grow // Ludvig
Thanks! I appreciate it
Totally agree, modern Jags are fantastic! After the 06 XJ I had, despite the problems I had with it, I’d 100% have another one, was a great car. The XE I hired a few years ago, wow, amazing. XF looks much better now it’s been facelifted but, those wheels, really not very nice to look at! Fab review, as always
Thats right. I'd go for an R Sport model
Damn, you are the only person that I am not speeding to 1.25.
And great content
I much prefer the X250 to the X260 - and not just because I have a facelift X250. The newer model is definitely 'cheaper' all round and neither the interior or exterior styling can match the earlier car in my opinion. The spec is also lower across the range with plenty of omissions when compared to the earlier model. Close, but no cigar .....
I love this colour combo as it looks quite elegant, would be my personal choice as I'm in my mid 40s
Great vid..... again. Achingly good looking car but my concern would be reliability. Sorry but i don't trust any JLR car. Am I wrong ¿
I would love a jag, there good looking vehicles. Plus they’re made down the road, so it will feel nice knowing you’re supporting a British brand.
Great review! I have a 2015 old shape XF and the new model doesn't do it for me, I am not keen on the dashboard! However, the 3.0d V6 S is pretty rare and sought after. Hopefully you get one of those at some point and review it. A definite class leader but not for the masses.
Good choice!
I agree. They're great at performance and comfort
