The best two options: 1. Mixing up when you grab the ledge such as how M2K and other Marth players in Melee will hold their jump (can add jump distance with air dodge in ultimate) and also time their up-b at different heights.
2. Holding down to use recovery Up-b's through ledge and hit 1-2 iceclimbers (best on mario, pikachu K.K.Rool ect.).

@@mehgamer467 I know but GimR is giving a platform to this new tech. It would be very unlikely the mass majority of the player base would know any of this unless they went on Icies discord. Now a whole bunch of people understand that and can speak highly about the character instead of constantly trash talking them.

Edit: Seems some people found this distasteful because I'm not willing to "work for it". I own and operate 2 companies (VGBootCamp and Xanadu Games), and operate a super major (Pound). This UA-cam Channel is my side project. I literally do not have the time to stream on Twitch regularly unless my starting point is decently high. I just don't have the time unless I know it's a good idea so I'm gauging interest. I get that it seems greedy without context, but please understand that I'm already spreading myself thin and I'm not willing to do it more so unless there are guaranteed gains from it. I don't get complaints when I promote my other platforms so I don't really understand why there's so much anger behind me promoting my Twitch.

I really appreciate the fact that you pretty much singlehandedly manage the entire Smash competitive scene but I don't think telling people to subscribe to your Twitch so that you can safely start streaming is ok. It's like asking for someone to simply gift you money so you can start a business with no risk whatsoever. Of course streaming isn't profitable at the beginning; it's not meant to be, because to start streaming is an investment (even if only a time investment) and you only get your channel to be profitable if you are a decent enough streamer. But you're just using your popularity on this community to try to break this system and to skip that first step. Really, GimR?

I've watched this video like 5 times and I just realized there's a little nugget of knowledge that you barely touched on around 4:09 about using crouch to stop one climber from moving while you move the other during a desynced side-b. That's just useful to remember in general for positioning during desyncs.

Where would you put icies in the tier list?
A bunch of my friends argue over this quite often
Most of the time they etheir say icies are really good or really bad
some of them say icies are D tier
Others say top 3 in the entire game
I think they about lower part of B tier maybe high C
Because their desync stuff is really good but it’s also very difficult to pull off unlike some characters like lucina pichu and olimar that are all really good and just straight up kill you
And character like peach also have kill confirms but their not completely frickin impossible to pull off like icies combos
So with a good player playing them

As an icies players this is common knowledge, they're so fun. The pivot grab whiff at ledge is more reliable for the trump, and also if you do it late after they start getting up, have nana do a getup attack and she'll send them in the perfect direction for a back air from popo

If you've got disjointed aerials just shark the ledge. For example Marcina up air should break this and even set up for a juggle on characters who have a hard time landing anyways.

This ledge trump desync just got nerfed in 4.0. Wasnt in the patch notes but trust me. She phases through the opponent now. Damn... my smash tag is #fixicies but I didnt mean this lol
I don't think this is going to be effective against D3.
I feel like one way to make this more bearable is just to make Nana (or Popo if you're using the appropriate alt) not ledge-trump characters. I mean, she doesn't ledge-trump Popo.
I don't know if that'll ruin a bunch of other Ice Climber strategies that aren't as frustrating for the opponent (and therefore deserve to stay), but it's a thought.

A lot of people here are talking about icies being broke af, but as an icies main I would like to make a counterargument by listing all the problems with nanas ai:
-Nana will always dodge back to ledge. Normally this is good, but if nana is under the stage dodging out towards the blast zones, she will nearly always miss the ledge and die
-nana will sometimes use her second jump for no reason when your trying to recover, meaning that you can never really count on having a double jump for nana
-on both yoshis story and unova pokemon league, theres a glitch where nana gets stuck on the platform above the ledge trying to get to the ledge. Because nana ai doesnt know how to fast fall, she will be stuck in an infinite jumping loop on the platform where she jumps, lands, and then jumps again. Only way to fix it is to get close to nana
-if popos on the stage near the ledge and nanas on the ledge, you still control nana's getup options. This sounds fine for some things like this, but if popo goes down, nana falls off, and if popo then goes to the right, nana goes under the stage, causing her to die (this sounds really specific but it happens more than you think)
-nanas gravity (the area in which popo controls her) is really undefined when falling, meaning that sometimes you can recover and sometimes you just cant for no reason
-when you use side b to recover, there is a (to my knowledge) random glitch where popo and nana use their individual side bs instead of the united one, causing nana to fall to her death
This is just the glitches with nana ai, there are other problems too. I'm not saying you shouldnt play ice climbers, but icies are not broken and if you do want to play ice climbers you should be ready for some of the harsh realities that come along with it.
Counterplay that players coming from Melee thought of instantly: Buffer drop off the ledge and regrab ledge or attack Popo.
This set up is really cool and adds a unique and cool buff to Icies :))

@@TheFantasticWarrior Playing the character. Accident sometimes lol. Nana does something stupid on her own and then somebody says, hey, I could ledge trump with Nana while f-smashing with Popo. A lot of desync options have been known for a long time now, and then from there it's creativity with combos and option selecting.

6:25 - I wouldn’t go for a punish either if something was coming on my face.
I have a question about two moves in particular: ptooie and witch time. In an online match I was Plant and against a bayo. She witch timed the ptooie and I got damaged. I tested in training mode, and found some weird stuff:
If Plant is on the ground during the blowing animation, it is hit twice by the wt ptooie.
If you turn stale moves on, the ptooie does MORE than if stale moves is OFF after it uses ptooie once.
If bayo activated the wt ptooie, she is immune to the ptooie.
I got a 97.6% combo off of a wt ptooie.
Literally just as I'm writing this I got it to work on Mecha koopa. Am I unaware of some property of witch time that reflects some projectiles that return to their character?
