How do I work around this?" You've got a brute strength in how concrete your content is, but it would be a fun mix-up to see how you arrive at these wild techs so often. Like a "In the Lab" series... You can use shield + b or if you have two shield buttons holding both will make sure you can move the shield without roll or spot dodge. Just another option.

Snake can't hold b during shield to lock himself into shield, either. I'm guessing this has to do with his grenades. Plus his grab works differently than every other grab, so it's safe to say he has his fair share of special code to make him work properly. An alternative to holding special+shield is holding shield twice (both triggers by default, or trigger+x/y, if you use a control scheme like that) and this works for every character. Just in case somebody missed BSD's video, it's worth mentioning.
You can also hold 2 shield buttons to tilt your shield in any direction which is good to know, especially if you're an inkling player. Thanks for the good vid gimr keep it up!

its probably been said somewhere, but its actually more beneficial to shield tilt by using L+R, or any 2 jump buttons simultaneously. if you develop that habit over the shield+B then you can still shield tilt naturally even when playing as inkling and snake (or any other character that may not be able to press B and shield at the same time)

IDK if this is a new thing as a result of patch 2.02, but if you hold both shield buttons it allows you to tilt your sheild without dodging just like you were holding shield + B. Makes the tech more plausible for Inkling to pull off.
This is very similar to how in melee, characters with really short crouches or dashes can go under projectiles and attacks and then shield to easily powershield
So basically, tilt your shield down when someone’s coming at you with an ariel from above, so that their move doesn’t hit your shield as soon, and you have more time to parry that Ariel?

Eh? If your shield is chunked then shifting it towards the opponent's attack reduces their ability to shield stab you. Not related to this video but it's always been useful in some scenarios.
it made more sense when they introduced it in melee because you could mess up people's L-cancel timing by moving your shield's hitbox, as well as control the direction/distance you are knocked back in shield via tilt and light-shielding (aka shield DI). even after that, it still has minor use because you can tilt the shield to cover a character's exposed feet or hands, preventing a shield poke.
Gimr, can you test how much less shieldstun aerial attacks do compared to grounded moves? This is a confirmed tip in the Tips section of the Vault, but I just want to see the shieldstun multiplier for aerial attacks and if it has a great impact on gameplay. Great video!

For you Inkling mains out there just make sure you have two shield butttons, pressing two shields is the same as shield + b.
Yup! And if your triggers are all jumbled to jump and special and stuff, just sub X to shield as well!

If you're using sideways joycon I recommend setting the ZR/ZL bumper at either the left or right of the joycon to shield, so you can shield shift.
