@@montymolemmn It actually takes a ton of effort to get the water simulation to look right, and the fur and hair to work right, the lighting.... So at least the animation has got effort. Don't underestimate the work it takes to animate and render even a low budget scene. Just because it isn't on the same level as Disney-Pixar doesn't mean it's effortless.
Imagine if a movie like this actually ended with a dark ending, that would be insane.

That movie doesn't get enough love. Sure, it's not the best movie ever, but it's very enjoyable. My conspiracy theory is that no one cared about it because it dared to make the cat a protagonist instead of another lazy stereotype cat villain. I get so mad about this; cats are not evil just because we project negative human emotions on them. And abandoning a declawed cat outdoors? That's some evil villain shit the humans pulled there.

@@justtrying1952 You just introduce them slowly over time... I’ve heard of some owners introducing the dogs behind closed doors so they can sniff each other behind the door! A meeting before you even adopt the other kiddo can be very beneficial as well.
But besides that, bring new pupper home when you know you’re gonna have time to sit with them both, get them acquainted slowly, and keep an eye on them for several days so that you can monitor for any potential scraps

Something that pains me so much in contemporary animation is the lack of diverse art styles. Always the same blocked character design, lighting, movement, cinematography, colour palettes etc. The unique identity of Into the spider-verse's design is what drew me to it, and I don't think I am alone in this.

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.
It's supposed to look cute like they can easily tuck them away or you can just hold them easily. Kinda the same appeal some people see in babies.

These characters just look like blobs with no structure. It pisses me off because they clearly weren't dedicated to that, they clearly weren't dedicated to make a style out of that, they still went and gave them fur like the designs have any actual detail and that would fit the tone or anything, or like that would give the overall look any edge, still have pretty restricted animation and didn't creatively distort their models, still stick to too many rules that ultimately makes everything look bland, no creative coloring, nothing going beyond any expectations, they didn't have any more style and... yeah it's Illumination... it's done competently and it's clear the animators knew the rules of animation but that's absolutely it, none of it actually means anything, none of it is truly experimental, none of it is memorable. *illumination*

Well, honestly, this movie impresses me, even to this day. This movie is among the very small list of films of which I actually completely forgot the entire plot the day after watching it.
Two things:
1. This movie is not needed because we have Bolt and I personally think it's the better choice

The animation in this looks like it's trying to be Bolt but it's 10 times worse, even though Bolt came out 13 years ago. Seriously, look at the animation for Bolt, I'm pretty sure they studied actual dog movements to get right. Also there's atmosphere, imperfections, cool color grading, and Bolt's fur looks amazing

It really is wasted potential!
The animation industry is rough. Even when you get a job there, which is a dream, it will be a hellish job with too many hours for too low a pay, but that's just an artists life. In return you can work on stuff that will Outlast you, move tons of people and have a vision.
...... But then SloP (secret Lifes of Pets can literally be shortened to slop lmao) exists.
It's a slap to the face to anyone who had to work on it.

It took me so long to relive he was joking because 1. they didn’t drown, 2. There’s a huge storyline and it’s how teamwork can save lives, 3. The animation is perfect and the effects are great. The movie opens with the best scene because it was all probably conceived in a brainstorming session. Someone came up with the idea “what do pets do when the owners aren’t home?” and everyone got really excited and started saying funny things for pets to do. Nice, amazing, really fun idea. Then they realized they had to write an actual plot, and that’s where everything went wrong.
Illumination should just do short movies.
This was one of my little sisters favorite movies, whenever I was at my dads I would sit through hours of this movie on repeat, it was genuinely hell

It is the most boring movie illumination made. The story jumps around everywhere with no real direction. None of the characters are likeable, and the concept is just a blantant rip off of every other animated movie in existence, except they do nothing new with it.
Lou Minos That’s the TSLOP duology in a nutshell, but the worst Illumination films are The Lorax, Hop, Minions and Despicable Me 3. The rest of the Illumination films are also responsible for cursing animation as a “genre for kids” instead of respecting it as an art form, but they did start fairly well with the original Despicable 1. Plus Despicable Me 2 and The Grinch are alright. Yeah, they are subpar, but especially by Illumination standards, they could be much worse.

Sing is also my guilty pleasure i guess. Its not that bad, the story is kinda thin but ok, but it just reeks of shameless marketing with all the famous actors and songs and putting their best scenes in the trailers so the rest of the movie doesnt have much to offer.

I watched this when it came out. I paid MONEY for it. Literally an hour after I finished watching it, I remember flat-out telling my parents that I didn’t remember any of the plotlines from this movie.
