    You noted there is no sign of the control tower. That's because there isn't going to be one! The plan is for a Remote Digital Control Center, also known as Digital Aerodrome Service, located in Eastern Creek, approx. 25 km from the airport. This concept is already in use in a few places in Europe, but WSI will be the first large international airport to adopt this new technology.

    Thinking of St Mary`s station. St` Mary`s from the west has only one track up and one track down and shared by passenger and freight trains with freight trains known for braking down a far bit. This could inflict a problem with the new line boosting 10 minute services. It would be a shame to see airport travellers forced onto buses at St Marys to complete their travel into Sydney or where ever.

    Where is the rest of the terminal and gates. It’s tiny! Is this a small regional airport?

    • @BigJayDogAdventures
      @BigJayDogAdventures  4 місяці тому +7

      It is planned in 2031 to duplicate the whole thing on the other side of the metro line with second runway. It has plenty of room for expansion after that. it will take the load of Kingsford smith as it has no room for expansion. It will also run 24/7 which will be convenient. There is really no other option for Sydney but to build a second airport out west

    • @MrJpblue1000
      @MrJpblue1000 4 місяці тому +2

      10-12 million passengers per annum with scope to expand to 15 with a small western expansion I understand. It is a regional airport for western Sydney. Not NSW or Sydney Proper, a population of just over 2.5 million. Its the right size and expandable I bet. Masterplan shows up to 80ish million annual passenger capacity in like 20never

  • @ryanhp3170
    @ryanhp3170 4 місяці тому

    I'm guessing public transport fares will be very expensive from the CBD. I wonder this would impact young/budget tourists decision to visit Sydney.

    • @exploringsydneysrailways
      @exploringsydneysrailways 4 місяці тому

      There won't be a station access fee, but the airport station will probably be just over 65km from the CBD by track distance, which will make the fare to the city $9.84 in peak hours or $6.88 off-peak (with current fares, which will likely be raised by the time the line opens).

    • @tacitdionysus3220
      @tacitdionysus3220 4 місяці тому

      No reason it should be any more expensive than now for a similar length journey (say Central to Penrith). It's also WESTERN Sydney Airport, so much of its passenger catchment will be from Western Sydney (which is already more populous, has more industry, and is growing faster than the rest of Sydney). It will be a lot more convenient if you live in Oran Park, or Camden, or Wetherill Park, or Parramatta, or Penrith, Blue Mountains, or the north western suburbs.
      If you live in the CBD, Northern suburbs or eastern Suburbs, it would make more sense to use the existing old Sydney airport. Some people may go to WSI from Harbourside Sydney, probably because it's modern design favours low cost flights better than Sydney Airport - if its significantly cheaper, people will be prepared to travel further to and from it.

    Am I wrong in thinking there will be no rail connection within the airport complex? If there isn’t one, construction should cease immediately.

    • @BigJayDogAdventures
      @BigJayDogAdventures  4 місяці тому +11

      I believe the metro station is located outside the complex because the airport will be duplicated in 2031 the next terminal will be on the other side of the metro station the whole thing will be mirrored

      Amazing as it seems no plans for continuing southwest rail line from Leppington at present! All they need is a few more stations to the airport.

    • @tacitdionysus3220
      @tacitdionysus3220 4 місяці тому

      First connection will be the Metro from St Marys. The second will be an extension of the West Metro from Westmead (space already left at the site to do that). These will probably link to Glenfield, and through Oran Park and Narellan to Macartthur. Some people favour a connection using old fashioned trains extended from Leppington. I think it would be a backward step to keep building a 1920s rail system. Both metro stations on those lines would be centred between the eventual 3 to 5 terminal buildings, surrounding them on three sides.

      @tacitdionysus3220 4 місяці тому +1

      Two runways. 05L/23R and 05R/23L - similar to London Heathrow's current layout (except they are aligned 09L/27R and 09R/27L. The second won't be needed for a few decades, especially since the high speed taxiways off the runway allows faster operations than at most existing airports.
