The album is very musically nontraditional and is largely meant for a more niche audience (my impression), and Benjamin’s implication is that he didn’t go into it expecting it to be good and would expect most people to find it unappealing on first impression.

I think it's the sort of thing designed to make most people assume it's a joke, but with lots to appreciate for people willing to actually listen closer to it. If you wanna say it's sad that people don't really give this a chance then that's fine, but you can't really avoid saying whether you like it unironically or not.

I love how the final track, elevator jazz by nature, is titled "Infinite Realm of Incomprehensible Suffering." For that to come at the end of it all...I'm pretty sure that's how we'll ALL end. Beautifully unironic.
This sound reminds me of when you go to a concert and the bands are just riffing between songs or while setting up. But it's the best part of the whole concert.
