Has alot to do with his interests in Game Scoring (audio). This is fully conceptual music that just so happens to be designed by a Guitar virtuoso.

As a fan of technical music, improvisational, and avant-garde, I will say that I am so incredibly amazed at the level of craftsmanship this album embodies. Pure, future, relevant, cosmic, timeless, soulful, and beautiful. This is something I want with me when I die. It's so cosmically me. I haven't heard a musician light a fire in me since I first heard of Buckethead back in the late 90's. This album is on a cosmic level of traveling and just being. Both are so timeless in their crafts and cosmic expressions. I love music :)
You can compare this album to some of John Coltrane albums, but next-generational level. Future. Gru is the future.

Arg, I'll admit, it was Gru that got me into Post Rock 3 years ago, and I haven't looked back since. But damn it, I hope someday He can make another album. Glad to see that he's still collaborating with other artists though!

@@erickbarragan4275 The "off-beats?" No, he was refering to the time-signature changes. 😂 Pure gold when someone who doesn't know what they're talking about tries to mockingly correct someone.

I found Cosmogenesis 10 years ago (maybe 12 years!)... Gru, you are my hero. The concept is beautiful (yes, heavy, headbanger too but beautiful first!)... I listen to this in 2024 and it is still amazing, it is still surprising me after all these years.
The fact that a guy created this and just disappeared is just like a myth.

  • @munkierunner

You know when you try and find positive descriptive adjectives to compliment a band or single person in Gru's case, and there aren't any? because the music is just so emotional and incredible, there ARE no words to describe it, its a feeling, and if I could transcribe that feeling to this sentence, I would. Man what an album. I am blown away.
