ay same! There's some pretty cool books out there that talk about the historical branches between alchemy and modern day chemistry that are pretty cool reads
I’m 42, I just discovered dungeon synth - and I feel like it’s been here, watching me all these years going through life knowing I’m supposed to find it - and once found, I feel like I’m being greeted by an old friend of days past….
The light from the gates is a masterpiece. Really feels like those moments in an rpg when your stumbling upon some ancient castle or temple created by a lost civilization, honor bound to fulfill an oath and quest for the king as a humble knight, with the light rays peeking through the stained glass.
It's incredible how beautiful this is. It's the sound of my childhood pc gaming but how it sounds in my memories. The dark halls of Eye of the Beholder trilogy I played together with my dad. The old pc speakers. Ultima underworld. And probably games that I don't even remeber. Really glad I found this.
@ that’s such a nice thing you let me know this. I can feel it, really. Btw, is there any soundtrack you particularly love from that time? From your channel i kinda went on a spiral for searching soundtracks from 90s games. It’s hard to get a hold but there are some torrents where people extracted them from the files into mp3’s, which is really great.
@@Zrinko_Maloseja No particular soundtrack, it's more the vibe and atmosphere I get from thinking back to the CRPGs and PnP Roleplaying games I played and the feel of the C64 and Amiga days.
It reminds of when I worked at the Renaissance Faire in my teens dressed as a pirate and walking around with my metalhead, goth, and punk rock friends. Next faire season I wanna sample some of the musicians that are playing and mix it with my 404 while I'm playing my synth. Get some harp and sea shanties in the mix. I wanna sample some obnoxious drunk pirates singing shanties and then mix it to sound kind of disembodied and like hearing a revival band of brothers having a glee time in the distance. While my band of brothers and I are watching them from the distance waiting for the party to crash then sacking them late in the night.
I am writing a medieval story soon and this is LITERALLY what I've been looking for, for inspiring dark medieval music to play while I write it. Thanks!
I have a serious anxiety disorder. This morning i woke up with heart palpitations and couldnt stop crying. I was scrolling down my yt feed trying to find something to put on in the background while i got on with housework and found this. Sometimes the dungeon synth albums i get suggested are samey, or lack a cohesive flavour. This is some of the best. Full of concept and human touches, and of course, a perfect level of darkly chill to help me regulate. I feel so much better. Thanks man
I have the same, but it has more physically impact than my thoughts, it was hard for me ever come to market for food. but I take medicine that helps me a lot. ask psychiatrist about that if you haven't done it before. yes, and silence and bright artificial light returns partially that anxiety still and I play cartoons all day and night on my phone in background.
I know what you feel, bro. I have it too, and it brings me headpain and throw up. Its already seldom, like once a year or two years, since im in my forties and chilled, but formerly caused me many pains. Maybe try to listen Minas Anor and Realms of Magical Sorrow from Old Sorcery, beside of this one they are strong materials too.
Listening to this was almost like some kind of a spiritual awakening. Amazing work. I'm glad i listened to my youtube's recommendations for once. Just beautiful.
This is perfect background music for the hardcore version of World of Warcraft classic, it gives the game a dark fantasy vibe, and where death is permament, thats just the icing on the cake, glad i decided to search "dungeon synth" this did not dissappoint at all!!
Searched for some music for some solo board game sessions, but I were unsatisfied with classic medieval music. Then I found this… and this is what I searched for without knowing. Love it. ❤ I think fallen kingdom and ruby are my favourites. Kingdom has fallen, but ruby gives hope.
I found that Skyrim feels good with your music, it have different and unique vibe. Special thank you for that. And yes I love the new album, this time I went to a world where the atmosphere is less rough but mysterious.
This gives me “Bleak sword” vibes. One of the best Apple Arcade game imo, simple black white and red game, that fits really well with this kind of music.
Simon, keep doing what you are doing. You created something magnificent there and you did it all by yourself; you are an inspiration and a real artist. You gave my art block a run for its money, remember that whoever you are. 😂

Reminds me of some of the Burzum stuff... This is one of the best things that I've listened to on the last months, on the way to be one of the best albums of the year.
I need a t-shirt with that cover. All back with little dots of white noise. The knight in the chest and in the back in that red font some text. I would insta-buy. For my birthday I'll buy all cassettes!

this type of music is sooooooo good for a tabletop rpg.

High key listening to this while reading ancient religious texts. A nice ambiance indeed.

I really like the Tree Sentinel in the thumbnail
Great stuff! Will definitely be using this as some ambient music in my campaigns. Now I need this album art on a t-shirt.
Honestly judging by the cover I thought it's some metal. What I've found was not what I expected. And I'm staying here. New genre unlocked!
dungeon synth was born out of the instrumental breaks/introductions of black metal songs, so you’re not far off!
