Who’s here after watching Conan must go?
Congratulations to Kai on meeting his soul mate and having a baby! Bravo Conan!
I'm still mad that at one point Kai said he was talking to the biggest star in America and they all cut him off and didn't hear his quip about it being Sona 💔
Just watched “Conan must go”
He met up with this lad and apparently while Conan was there they went to a bar, this guy had a crush on a girl he’s known that was there, Conan told him go for it, now this lad is having a family with said lady. It’s at the end of episode one of Conan must go on hbo max
I saw that part and got teary eyed. So happy for Kai eventhough i dont know him personally lol
🎉
Ayyyyyy shoutout my boi Kai, crushed the entire podcast 🔥🔥

It's incredible how incredibly quirky and funny norse people are. Every time Conan called a norse person it was funny and spirited.
That's cool too hear. I live in Canada from a town called Gimli with the largest icelandic population outside of iceland, and my family is so quick and funny, cool to think that this could be a Norse trait 😊
It never fails. @@TheVelvetVixen
When i see interviews from norse musicians, actors and just regular folk.
They're all quick witted and funny.
One of the best conan needs a fan episodes in a while 😂
My favourite ones were with the obituary writer, the NASA contractor, the roller dirby mom, the belgian in France and of course, Sasha with the Giant Teacup!
@william2154 the Belgian in France was hilarious. The pastor from El paso, the man opera singer and the Antarctica custodian were my favorites
Sometimes I skip these episodes and forget to go back to them but I'm going to make sure I check out all of these that you guys mentioned. I was laughing so much harder than I expected to listening to this one and now I want more!!
One funny sob. Great comedic timing.
The Finnish coffee roaster who was also in a metal band was pretty funny too 😂
For those wondering, the village is Eggum, and the archepelago is Lofoten. (those are the spellings.) It's further north than Iceland!
Really astonishingly beautiful place
Thanks for sharing! What a beautiful place, definately wanna visit there someday
as somebody (myself) living up there too I couldn't believe this episode when it started, hahaha. Eggum is a beautiful place I visit with my wife each summer (a bit less these latest years because too many tourists). This whole episode with Kai taking about his 50 inhabitants village is even funnier when you live up here, because that happens everywhere XD.
Can you also tell us how his friend Guard-Semen's name is actually spelled?
@@juliahiiri9713 Gard Simen
I love that he loves his job so much. Those of us who have lived cushy comfy lives without the Elements of the Arctic think they’re miserable but he would die a happy man doing what he does. I love that. Very inspiring and admirable
It's the elements of the Arctic that makes living here so nice. So much variety at the mercy of the weather gods
It's a no bullshit, healthy lifestyle. What's not to love?
The funniest part of this episode was: "Kai, have you got any special people in your life?" "... Gardsemen?" (guessing at that spelling)
Close enough
No way, THE Gard Simen? It's an honour sir 🙏
Why arent you working?? @gard
You two should do a podcast from the boat

Love the podcast. As someone who enjoys video formats more, I would love to have the whole podcasts uploaded to UA-cam though.
we've been asking for a long time, they won't do it because they make more money off the short clips :( :(
@@emu_warrior Then they should offer a monthly subscription to Team Coco and make the videos exclusive to that platform. I'd sub.
I prefer visual too. But tbh I’m glad they don’t offer it. There would go my day to day life. I would sit here watching these vids and not do anything else. At least with the podcast I can multitask a bit while listening
@@emu_warrior And we all know Team Coco needs more money. Conan rich enough for the rest of his bloodline's existence, $150 million Sirius deal, huge listenership for the podcast and 10 minutes of ads in every podcast episode. But nope, can't release entire video episodes. Need more more more.
A Norwegian fish farmer speaks such great English 😢 or any other Conan fan calling in from everywhere outside of the typical English speaking area. Amazing 🎉
I can still hear the norwegian part in his accent though, but I admit his english is very good.
I am an American who moved to Sweden 30 years ago. The people in the Scandinavian countries typically have lovely English skills because they learn the language in school starting already at age six. Of course they have an accent but are generally very easily understood.
@@ingridbrandt7710 It's less about the schooling (plenty of countries where school children start learning English just as early as we do) and more about exposure (i.e. the fact that we are surrounded by and immersed in Anglophone media, and that we subtitle rather than dub it).
Man, we need more people like the dude from Norway. I think I can't really add anything to that.
This show makes life worth living.
For me waking up on a Thursday morning to seeing a 20 min plus Conan needs a fan episode means your drive to work is gonna be nice. A 30 min plus episode means you are calling in 10 min late from your works parking lot.
This guy was gold !
Not me laughing like a maniac while on my morning run listening to this episode in the dark at 5am
This interview was awesome...
And that life sounds beautiful. ✊
Kai is incredible!! So funny 😂 good sense of humor, sincere, and I love the way he views life ❤ Heard this today while I was working and I was smiling the whole time. Favorite podcast I've heard in a while.

Its REAL nice
This guy easily top 5 CONAF guests in my books
Conan should've visited the Fisheries Museum while he was in Bergen. I'd have given him a tour!
That poor guy. His enthusiasm for life dropped a few notches. Nice work Co-Nan.
Conan was such a jerk to him. Didn’t like that at all.
It's fine they actually met each other in person
Kai’s humor is really perfect for the podcast
Salmon farming like in the Faroe Islands. The best farmed salmon in the world
Jack Fish, Billy Wave. LMAO
Så flott.
Man do I wish to be on one of these
I do too but my name is David and I am from Colombia so I'm fucked. They already had a David from Colombia last week
I've been to Eggum, Lofoten. It's pretty... in the summer. When my son was born here in Norway there were loads of names that wouldn't work for my English speaking family and vice versa. Gard Seimen is now added on that list. My husband (ex) used to joke that if we had twins, he wanted to name them Odd and Even, which are prefectly normal Norwegian names, but sound HILARIOUS in English. I met a Canadian woman here who was married to a Norwegian guy named Harold Aas. Next time you watch or imagine tough Vikings out on the open waters in their longboats, just remember they were calling each other these silly names (or versions there-of).
I mean English names sounds weird in Norwegian aswell if you pronounce them in Norwegian and not English as most do

Fish farming protects the wild populations it's good
Well...... I wrote an article about this, when the Canadian's developed a gene edited salmon for farming, and it actually doesn't. Regular, run-of-the mill, fish-farmed fish, like anything raised in a crowded, captive population, creates livestock that has more disease and pests than their wild counterparts, and these fish, well, they escape and spread those pests. Then there is the waste created with the feed and pest treatments. Then, there is the environmental impact and cost of the feed itself. It's a whole thing. There are pluses, but there are very big minus' too. *waves from Norway.
@@TheAccidentalViking, it all depends on many factors (stocking densities, site selection if done in the environment (alternative is $$$ RAS), diet, etc.). As a person who did a BSc in Fisheries/Wildlife conservation, then followed with a MSc in Marine Affairs and Policy (Focus on Aquaculture), then followed by a PhD in Marine Ecosystems and Society (Focus on Aquaculture) I still feel it is the best way to protect wild stocks by trying to completely isolate the process in a sustainable fashion. What is funny is the wild fish we often catch for broodstock with no farms around for thousands of miles (this is a few miles off the coast of Miami, FL) are more parasite ridden, very skinny, than the fish we have at our facilities - but this requires knowledge on how to appropriately care for them.
@@Jibcutter You should come here and check out what it's like to fish farm above the arctic circle. That would so interesting to hear about the contrasts between the two.
@@TheAccidentalViking Right it's not perfect but there's a demand for the fish so without farming the wild stocks get decimated
@@JammastaJ23 they'd never allow that amount of salmon to be taken from wild populations. We'd all be eating the fish they harvest to feed the salmon. Some estimate it takes 3 or more kilos of the feed fish to raise 1 kg of wild salmon.
Pretty sure he meant the name is fitting because it sounds like seaman, how did no one catch that?
Because Conan fans have the sense of humour of a 12 year old pre-pubescent boy? And I mean that endearingly, sort of.
How do I call this?
My ancestors were Norwegian and now I think fish farming might be my ticket back to the homeland. Hit me up, Kai

I’ll date him! Hook a sister up!
People like him aren't that rare, just go to any Norwegian town.
I am wondering why the fishermen hate the fish farmers. It's probably because the fish farmers feed the salmon with the optimal engineered food to make it grow super big and super fast, and they lower the price of salmon in a way that's not competitive, so each hour spent on the ocean by a fisherman is compensated less and less fairly.
Here is someone who does not know what they are talking about😂😂
@@Aleksbernhard You got that right. Not many folks understand the environmental impact of farmed salmon. I don't buy it anymore if I can help it.
@@TheAccidentalVikingyou clearly dont get it
@@Aleksbernhard Oh, maybe I don't 'get it', but I do understand the science.
@@Aleksbernhard Hey, think of it this way. My more informed decision to not buy it means there is more to export and earn those big big subsidised bucks.
Is Conan suffering from pneumonia or is he getting ready for the fish farm in Norway?
Yes he's in thailand then manila
Loo-foo-tan 😋
He may not be the one that throws them chemicals But these are sure fed to the fish pesticides antibiotics to prevent rampant disease due to them being so close to each other. He didn't to say this is why the fishermen are upset 😶😐😶😐
Chemicals is not allowed and antibiotics is no longer in use, do research smartass
The meat you eat is worse than the salmon, one og the most strict and regulated farmed animal in the world
Man the writer’s strike needs to end.
love the podcast.. but this was poorly executed and would have been better on the cutting room floor
Aren’t Norwegian salmon farms notorious for fjord pollution and harming wild salmon populations?
These facts doesn't really seem to be considerable enough for the few owners who've become billionaires in the salmon-endeavors. The industry is big money, with the government neglecting science and studies done on harm both climate and pollution. The workforce required to uphold a "sustainable" and legal salmon-farm is really low. So in this case a duo consisting of Gard-Simen & Kai-Arne, would be able to operate and manage most of what it takes to grow a ridiculous amount of, salmon hyper-fast. While still being totally oblivious of, and actively lobbying politicians away from, the harms and dangers this industry have created.
Well we can't keep putting pressure on wild stocks. We aren't harvesting wild buffalo or wild chicken these days. And as a person who has completed BSc in Fisheries Conservation Biology, MSc and Ph.D. in Marine Aquaculture, I can tell you no owners of these cage operations are 'billionaires'. There are ways of doing this right that reduce the pressure/stress of harming wild stocks - and the knowledge on these better ways advanced every decade.
@@Jibcutter The environment is different up here in the Arctic than it is in Florida. The initial problem with the salmon fishing was a salmon lice and now, they've discovered a parasite, Spironucleus salmonicida, and it's spread to hatcheries that are connected to fresh water systems, so it is going to spread. Norway is very good at two things that are always required to solve problems like this: Research and Money for the Research.
Yes.
Nothing against this guy but one of the most toxic foods in the world is Norwegian farmed salmon.
So clueless its funny😂😂😂
Norwegian salmon is on of the most strict farmed animals world wide, its so many reguliations and we are not allowed to do anything without the permission of the health and food services
@@Aleksbernhard It's not toxic to eat, but it's pretty damn high on the waste and feed/end product ratio. Not to mention the lovely little parasites it spreads to wild populations.
True!
