- After Conan O’Brien appeared on Hot Ones last week and created a surge of meme-worthy moments that sparked a viral stream of throwback favorites, the outpouring of love for the former late-night host has only just begun. Having spent a large chunk of his career talking to some of the most beloved personalities behind a desk for three decades, the orange-haired comedian is ready to stretch his long legs with the highly-anticipated Max Original series, Conan O’Brien Must Go. While wandering the globe to meet fans and take in the sights and sounds of four countries, O’Brien also meets his associate producer (with “various tasks”), Jordan Schlansky in the Argentina travelogue, where the two eat meat plates, dance the tango and become Gauchos. In an exclusive interview with Collider about Conan O’Brien Must Go, the beloved producer and O’Brien’s longtime friend, talks about his favorite moments with the host and how their relationship has evolved since Schlansky got his start on Late Night With Conan O’Brien in the mid-’90s.
Schlansky, who also appears regularly on The Conan and Jordan Show exclusively on SiriusXM’s Conan O’Brien Radio, told Collider that no matter what it looks like to audiences and how fraught their dynamic appears, he loves traveling with O’Brien. “I love traveling with Conan. I love spending time with him,” Schlansky says. “I love spending time with him in foreign environments. I do truly think that when you travel or experience any kind of new event with someone you know, it does bring you closer together. You not only experience things firsthand but [that’s] reflected in somebody else’s eyes, as well.”

From all the times I've heard Jordan on the podcasts, I really like the man, he's super awesome. He has amazing dry wit.

I worked on Late Night w/ Conan for 13 years. Jordan's a great guy. Very professional and dependable.

Agreed, I like him even more after this. I don't think he's purely an act, but I believe he's aware that when the cameras are rolling it needs to be entertaining, he certainly knows that he's on a comedy show and is expected to act a certain way to make it work, it's part of the job and he takes it seriously in the exact way he should. I suspect that off camera they have a good time and plenty of laughs.

@@bigb860 I think the character of "Jordan Schlansky" is probably based on funny behaviors, hobbies, or minor quirks that Conan had observed over the years, and at some point he invited Jordan to play them up and exaggerate them for bits on the show. If we were all genius comedians with our own talk shows, we could probably think of similar sketches with friends, family, coworkers, related to things that annoy us or we find endearing, or both at once. And we'd be like "That's not them, but also it is pretty much them" lol.

Saw Jordan at a Korean restaurant recently with his family and was so tempted to say hi, but I didn't want to make it into a fan moment in front of his wife :) Love that guy.
Props for letting them be. I've been the same in the past with people I really like - I never want to disrupt. Sometimes a simple head-nod or wave is just fine.
@@jasonezzell6901yeah especially someone like Jordan who isn’t ultra-famous and has would want his privacy respected. Conan took him to the carnivale in Italy and you could tell he genuinely wasn’t faking it and didn’t love spending time there. Ngl I would be too with endless selfies.
I find it so hard to believe Jordan when he says he’s not playing a character and that’s just his natural report with Conan, but then I see the camera angle he chose for this interview and I think twice 😂

Yeah, Jordan doesn't seem like the kind of man to get excited by the prospect of using the ER-GN11 and then replacing it place of the ER-GN10 before it has met its natural demise.

His logic and structure in this conversation is impressive.
That was an incredible insight Jordan shared regarding what makes the dynamic between himself and conan so compelling to watch; its that usually as humans when we try to match the energy and reflect the other person we are with, but because these two are such polar opposites, they both instead just double down on their strengths- Jordan's strength as an introvert, and conans as an extrovert.
What a fantastic interview. This answers so many of the questions I’ve had over the years and was a great promo for the show. Jordan saying at the end that he’s assigned tasks and he completes those tasks is such a troll I love it.
