Yeah you could see him laughing a number of times in the background, but he always stayed in his demeanor when he had to talk. What a trooper! Bet he also never misuses his arms!

I almost crapped myself on that one from laughing so hard. Jesus Christ, that shows you the power of the Cons when he builds up a momentum and then goes to another level. This is such the case here. Where he's on such a tear, such a roll, it starts to become rat-a -tat-tat machine gun speed comedy where every response hits so it becomes a perfect text book master class example of set up and pay off, set up and pay off. The 9-11 operator also gets big props too for understanding his part in comedy roleplaying that his job is to be the straight man, the set up guy and the only way for the skit to soar is for him to play it deadly serious which he did and bam somebody of Conan's caliber of wit and speed round comedy ferocity skill set can just go off which he does here
My God, almost thirty plus years in the biz and Conan has lost nothing off his fastball all these years on. An absolute master craftsman in his field, the dark arts that is improv comedy. Even the 9-11 guy's dad would have to give you props that you do superiorly well in high pressure situations, like off the cuff very public comedic environments.

Also, this guy played the "straight man' in this bit really well. ..and I love how Conan's improv choices are always as dark and surreal as possible.

I live in Toronto, Canada, and I had to call 911 for myself once, and the first question they asked was, "Fire, police, or ambulance?" Then the second was my address. I wonder if the script varies by country or by region or by something else.
Once again, Canada proves to be a more organized, civilized, and better "America" than America.
Whatever the case, that question is a mistake. Callers can't be expected to be in a state of mind where they know which service is appropriate for their problem, and it's the operator's job to figure it out.
Often larger cities will have specific dispatchers for each department. Thats why they ask police, fire or medical so they know which department to send the call to.

Weird I know several 911 operators. All are what I would call "underachievers" in life and talk about how they stay there as it is one of the easier jobs that he has ever worked.
