Hey there, just wondering if you have a link to the cage you are using! I tried looking and found similar but not the exact same - I want to make sure whatever I get will fit properly! Thank you in advance!
I used quite a few as I was just winging it (first short film) but the main lenses were Sigma 18-35 & Helios. I also used canon 24-105 and 17-35 here and there. Npf is to attach the the smallrig battery plate to eos-m dummy adapter.
Hello, nice video thank you. the Npf plate appears to output 12v, but the Lpe-12 is normally powered by 8v (same as the LPE-12 battery). Are you sure the eos-m is safe running on 12v?
Actually quite a good question 🙂. When I was looking at usb power banks I found that the cheaper low voltage ones wouldn't work or I'd always have the red battery icon so I started looking for banks with more power. I then came across a thread talking about the bmpcc, voltages, using external batteries whilst having batteries inside etc. It was long winded but as long as it isn't an extreme jump like from 8v to 20v etc you will be fine. I've run this for a long time now and no power issues at all. Another thing to note is when I tried this setup on my bmpcc4k, the battery reading was only 7.4 which isn't enough but on my M50, eos-m, monitor, bmpcc all work great.
Thank you 😁 There's so many lenses to choose from its hard to say. My first choice for sharp & character would be canon FD with a speedbooster. You can get a full set 28mm, 50mm and 70-210mm for under 100.

@@Altcine using magic lantern is complicated for useablity, also editing raw still images to convert to a video file every time shooting raw videos. I prefer a proper cine camera that is great usability and easy handling video codics as prores.
@@dimitrimoonlight oh I see. The easiest method for me is to shoot my vids, drop them into mlv, delete the ones I don't want, import a pre-made receipt on all clips and render as ProRes. A proper cine cam has less steps but you won't find a raw shooter at this price. Of course you can spend more money if you have it but the workflow isn't really that long with magic lantern.
@@dimitrimoonlight totally understand bro, even relaxing time is very important. I'll be honest though...it's very quick for me to do my conversations now. I went over it briefly in my EOS-M LETS TALK video but I did a step by step. Usually it's extremely quick as I have pre made settings that apply with 2 clicks.
So, im getting into buying a good lens , what lens sould i go for whit the eos m - the Canon 17-55mm F2.8 IS or the sigma art 35mm - 1* im planning on shooting indoor mostly (buying lights too) and try out stopmotion and filming unreal engine 5 backdrop / blender made stuff "homemade" too . 2* sould i go whit a 4k cam then? is there anything chespish used whit 4k for this popurse? i know the bm 4k but thats like 1k euro used would that be better whit a cheap lens than the eos m or 5d ii whit a 500 euro lens? 3** indoor is prob mostly lower light ( im gonna buy used, i have a eos m that i got for 130$ whit the M 18-55 kitlens or sould i buy a 5d ii (better lowlight?) i can get one for like 300$ " but then it changes up the lenses right? ) 4* like my budget would be like 500 ish euro used for a lens that can do everything. or maby 2 lens for 700 euro ish. 5* im gonna start learning the cam whit cheap lenses like the helios 44 and artizan 7 and the M 18-55 kit lens 6* im buying motorized Micro 2 Plus too later on whit a motorrized head maby many thanks for the videos and tuts!!
Hey, no probs bro 🙌🏾. Both of those will do the job...I'd focus mainly of focal length....and I'd probably want something variable if it's my only lens. If you're buying lights then 2.8 will do very well. Ml will do the job but remember...you'll have to process all those files through mlv app first. Doing stop motion will be a very labour intensive task don't you think? For short movies under a few minutes then maybe but stop motion with ml will take time! Even if you do get a cheaper 4k cam...it's not going to look as nice as eos-m so you've got to decide....cheap, longer workflow & better image Vs expensive, shorter workflow and ok image🤔 It's hard for me to make that decision for you but what I can say is.... buying a cheap eos-m can always be sold again and maybe buy EF lens with a cheap meike EF-Efm adaptor. That way the EF lens can easily be converted to another cam and meike adaptor isn't a big loss if you can't return it.
The eos-m is so cheap that you can't really go wrong if you're just trying out but....the BMPCC original is a fantastic camera with amazing filmic look. The eos-m is much easier to get a pleasing image but the original BMPCC and it's fantastic dynamic range is a fantastic cheap option. You will really have to learn colour grading with the bmpcc but imo it's far easier to work with, hardly any aliasing/moiré, responds well to sharpening and superscale. The only thing is the price (although low) is still triple the eos-m so you've got to do a little research into what exactly do you want.
@@Altcine It's going really well. I already have my Canon m50 Mark II built out into what I call my 'Mini Dragon'. I purchased an eos m cage, got the top handle, side handle, battery pack adapter, and my plan is to get another Feelworld external monitor to use and I'm mostly going to use my Rokinon 16 and 24mm lenses on the eos m with my Viltrox Adapter. After I get a memory card and install magic lantern of course.
I know man 🙈 I'm not sure what happened. Tbh it was only a few more minutes of me saying that you can build a full kit for under £100 that you can use on other camera's should you upgrade.
I went through all that trouble to build a nice cheap rig and share it for you to get ideas and all you took away from the video is 'theres no link'! I've done many videos on cages including the canon m100 cage featured in this video. You could easily have been pleasant and asked me for link😑
@@Altcine perhaps I should have looked harder...I did only watch half of it, but it is very frustrating that there are no cheap cages for the eos m, and by the time you rig it up with the other bits must be close to the cost of my eos-m, not my fault people need help deciding what extra bits they need to rig out a cheap rig....did you need to wipe your sensor looked like you stuck your finger in there. But your right I could have tried a little harder to communicate...I seem to have lost the art of praise...and prefer shorter interactions, which can come across as a little blunt...& maybe the fact i aint had a blunt in a while shows :)
I mounted my eos-m by attaching a cheese bar to the base & then a smallrig 15mm rod clamp which packed the center height enough to center on my anamorphic, so it cost about 15 quid...I could add a top handle in the hotshoe but dont really like doing that, I paid extra for the new smallrig battery holder I have that underslung on the rails, if I use the ef lens converter I have another hole to mount things or I use it to anchor the cheesebar to stop any rotations as there is only one screw in cam base...which is a pain...changing batteries is a pain.
@@timeslips It generally costs a few thousand dollars to fully rig out a camera. You just notice it more with cheaper cameras because the parts to rig the camera costs as much if not more than the camera. If you want to save money you can always 3d print the parts that you need to rig out your camera.

Another thing to note is when I tried this setup on my bmpcc4k, the battery reading was only 7.4 which isn't enough but on my M50, eos-m, monitor, bmpcc all work great.
very very good videos , some great rigs ,, i will be doing this thanks very much
Excellent 🙌🏾 glad you found it helpful.
wow amazing! do you know a cheap lens under 100$? a lens for my canon eos m
Thank you 😁 There's so many lenses to choose from its hard to say. My first choice for sharp & character would be canon FD with a speedbooster.
You can get a full set 28mm, 50mm and 70-210mm for under 100.
Another great video fella. Awesome rig, what else do you need??
If i get to buying a camera il be all over this vid for time!
Absolutely cannot fault your attitude about expense and things that people love should be affordable. 👍👍
Just had someone tell me i cant make, "real" videos without a laptop!?
Mines knackerd and i aint buying a new 1 anytime soon for what i do.
Had to tell him all my videos are made on my phone and i love the budget/anyone can do it attitude! Guess I'll be losing that subscriber pretty soon........!!
Keep it up mate, whens the film coming?!?! 😛😃👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks bro, just had to go check and make sure I was subscribed to you lol.
There's so many things I could reply to your comment but I'll just say this.....my most viewed video 110k and it's the most liked was filmed on a mobile phone with zero effort.
Another big video that was featured on a big tech site was also filmed on a phone.
It's all about using what you have and not getting hung up on what everyone else is doing.
If you do have any questions though I'm always here to help 😃🙌🏾
@@Altcine thanks for your reply mate and great to hear that.
I may be pecking your head a bit more if do decide to buy a proper camera and not another action type cam or drone! 👍👍

That flag solution is genius! Love it!
Thanks man, and I love it too 😁 The good thing is you can still use filters & flag together by putting filter on lens first then attaching the flag mount.
Saved myself £100 and invested in a rode wireless go.
IMCE yes I see that!! An excellent investment!
Hi I love your video, can you help me why when I am using my mobile phone as monitor, it always zoom? and 1080p 5k cant be viewed? pls help
5:44: nice and simple! I'm looking for something like this rig. also looking for wireless follow focus kit. there is alot of choices to trawl through out tehre in the camera world. this is the simplest I've seen.
Awesome, I hope it gives you some inspiration on parts to choose.
I use the Pd movie air 2 and it's awesome but I wouldn't say it's very cheap.
@@Altcine Looked at all the links for the bits of kit pretty awesome! some links for each bit of kit don't work tough. damn! Cheers
@@enjoyyoursleep1 yeah unfortunately the links don't work after a while or the item isn't available as I'm sure you know.
At this point most of it would just be inspiration to find parts that are similar 🙌🏾
@@Altcine Hey mate, thanks for your replies, how would I go about grabbing an 'all day battery and bracket for the rear of the cage, looking to get my cameras up and running again for not a lot of money. cheers
@@enjoyyoursleep1 no probs man, anytime 👍🏾👍🏾. It's quite tough with this camera because it's so small.
The question is do you want to keep the size small for run/gun or rig it out?
Hello. I have eos m; and i install ml. Every think is ok, but mlv app does’n work well… i can’t export any video. Any idea? I read tons of forums but i can’t find any solucion:(
Hi, I'll need more info. Message me on Instagram please.
@imceuk
Man this is dope! Great video!
Thanks man 😁👍🏾👍🏾
⚠️I have a question: I have a CANON EOS "M" and was looking for a wireless ttl / hss studio flash (not speedlight). I have seen the Visico 5 with trigger 818 TX or a Neewer vision 5 (which are practically the same). Can you tell me if it is compatible) or what should I look at in order to know what it should or should not have for compatibility? Thanks a lot
Do you have an updated link for the cage? The eBay link is dead & they seem to be non-existent when searching online 😭
Hi, I was searching for this hard the other day as I wanted a new one but can't find it anywhere I'm afraid 😔
@@Altcine no problem, I joined the mL Facebook group you recommended & someone on there suggested the smallrig M3/m6 cage
Few seconds in liked an subbed. Love this
Thank you John, really appreciate that 🙌🏾
I kind of agree with you but, it's also important to consider about work flow.
I hear that, workflow is definitely a considerable factor. Can you elaborate a bit more please?
@@Altcine yes, i understood. I think time is worth more than money for me, I don't mind spend more money to save my work flow time.
Hi ! Did I heard right ? M100 cage is best for Eos M ? Nice Vids and content :) subscribing! ✌
Hi, yes it's an amazing cage but unfortunately it needs a tiny bit of modding.
Ps thank you ♥️😁

with the rest of my money i will buy a Lamborghini, i save enough seeing this video
🤣🤣 my man 🙌🏾
So, im getting into buying a good lens , what lens sould i go for whit the eos m - the Canon 17-55mm F2.8 IS or the sigma art 35mm -
1* im planning on shooting indoor mostly (buying lights too) and try out stopmotion and filming unreal engine 5 backdrop / blender made stuff "homemade" too .
2* sould i go whit a 4k cam then? is there anything chespish used whit 4k for this popurse? i know the bm 4k but thats like 1k euro used would that be better whit a cheap lens than the eos m or 5d ii whit a 500 euro lens?
3** indoor is prob mostly lower light ( im gonna buy used, i have a eos m that i got for 130$ whit the M 18-55 kitlens or sould i buy a 5d ii (better lowlight?) i can get one for like 300$ " but then it changes up the lenses right? )
4* like my budget would be like 500 ish euro used for a lens that can do everything. or maby 2 lens for 700 euro ish.
5* im gonna start learning the cam whit cheap lenses like the helios 44 and artizan 7 and the M 18-55 kit lens
6* im buying motorized Micro 2 Plus too later on whit a motorrized head maby
many thanks for the videos and tuts!!
Even if you do get a cheaper 4k cam...it's not going to look as nice as eos-m so you've got to decide....cheap, longer workflow & better image Vs expensive, shorter workflow and ok image🤔
It's hard for me to make that decision for you but what I can say is.... buying a cheap eos-m can always be sold again and maybe buy EF lens with a cheap meike EF-Efm adaptor. That way the EF lens can easily be converted to another cam and meike adaptor isn't a big loss if you can't return it.
@@Altcine thanks, ill keep looking the the good deals then
will Magic Lantern work on other m cameras like the m2 m3 m6 ?
Hi, only the m2 but it's not nearly as good as the original m.
Wow! Where can i buy that viewfinder
Those are on eBay for very cheap £10. Even better quality versions are available for £30ish
@@Altcine thanks man! Your a real life saver!
Why can’t you put the rails and fallow focus right on the tripod?

There are no links!!! could you add links to the material you reviewed?
The links might be outdated now as this video is quite old.
so should i but just eos m base kit to try filmmaking out?
or there is any better camera kit for 250-300$
The eos-m is so cheap that you can't really go wrong if you're just trying out but....the BMPCC original is a fantastic camera with amazing filmic look.
@@Altcine i'll buy eos m and try filming
if i like it, i will sell it and buy something better. thank's for so detail answer
@@dudenarima2528 hey, I just made a new video as this was a very good question.
@@Altcine I got in EU the BMPCC for $350 the big problem of BMPCC is the battery! But I think does't make sense spend more than $100 for a EOS M

Thank you, glad you found it useful.
Any external monitor recommendations?
I use a an eyoyo a5. It's nothing special but it works.
link cage please
I’m currently building an eos m rig.
Awesome. How's it going?
@@Altcine It's going really well. I already have my Canon m50 Mark II built out into what I call my 'Mini Dragon'. I purchased an eos m cage, got the top handle, side handle, battery pack adapter, and my plan is to get another Feelworld external monitor to use and I'm mostly going to use my Rokinon 16 and 24mm lenses on the eos m with my Viltrox Adapter. After I get a memory card and install magic lantern of course.
King awesome... As usual mate! :-)
😁🙌🏾🙌🏾
Spot on fella!
Thanks man 😁🙌🏾
Whats a point to switch the camera rig to your gimbal and not show how its work? Exept if you use a turned off gimbal wit this rig
Because everyone knows how a gimbal works 🤷🏾♂️
Real Talk
Does this rig also work on the can a6000?
As long as a6000 takes a dummy battery then yes...it'll all work.
I'm think about getting an EOS-M for astrophotography at least looking into it.
It cut off at the end... What happened?
I know man 🙈 I'm not sure what happened. Tbh it was only a few more minutes of me saying that you can build a full kit for under £100 that you can use on other camera's should you upgrade.
This is beast ❤️😍

pointless without a cage link
