Searching for Brook Trout - Learning as We Go

- In this episode, we search for brook trout while ice fishing. Learning about how to locate brook trout is a fun experience as we drilled many holes on this adventure. We tried many depths and locations on the lake. We found brook trout in shallow water and they were biting mealworms and shrimp on a jig. We used indicators to help detect soft bites and also looked through the ice hole while laying on the ice. We also caught two rainbow trout as a bonus.
What locations do you look for when locating brook trout?

Awesome! I love all your ice fishing videos 🎣 Especially kokanee🙏
Glad to hear you like them. I'm going to try and learn about brook trout until the bigger lakes freeze, then I'll be fishing kokanee again, then maybe do a burbot video, time permitting.
@@FougereFamilyAdventures I love ice fishing brookies, unfortunately not many lakes nearby have them. But I’ve had success fishing very shallow for them close to weeds and using dragonfly nymphs while ice fishing.
Great spot, I fish it in the spring
There are many great spots there to try. Wish I had more time.
Hey! I'm new to your channel. I really don't know anything about brook trout or anything. I really find this video calm and fun. It was really nice when he caught one, and y'all took a photo of it and when you caught one too. Idk what to say anymore but, it helped me learn about brook trout. Will continue to watch more of your vids! ^^
I'm glad you liked it. Check out some of our other videos to help you learn about what we do and stay tuned, because I have more videos coming. Welcome to our channel.
My family lives your videos.
I'm glad you like them. Is there anything you would like to see next? I'm focusing on learning how to brook trout fish this year. Then, I'm hoping to go ice fishing for kokanee and burbot next if the lakes decide to freeze.
Would love to see a burnout video
@@JonathanSpitzke-xz4pt burnout? Or did you mean burbot?
Burbot. Stupid autocorrect.
@@JonathanSpitzke-xz4pt that's what I thought. I hope to have the time to go burbot fishing this winter and make a video. We need the lakes to freeze over
Happy new year friend
Same to you.
Anywhere between 3-6 feet for brookies is the money. Try fishing close to shore with some fallen logs etc.
Thanks. We found them in 6 to 8ft this trip, but I've heard a few people say 3ft or less around fallen logs. Will definitely try this.
Do you ever ice fish H--h Lake north of Quesnel?
Not yet. I would like to try it one day.
