Good example, in my opinion, of Nedum's point that a football player's mistake/decision/performance etc can never be forgotten from this past weekend is Harvey Elliott. A kid who came through their academy and makes his debut as the youngest ever PL player who leaves to join Liverpool, the team he supports, gets booed every time we go to Craven Cottage. Not once has he said anything negative about Fulham, the closest thing he said to negative about Fulham is that he could never, as a Liverpool fan, say no to the opportunity of playing for Liverpool.
Similarly, every time Man City & now Chelsea come to Anfield, Raheem Sterling gets booed and "only one greedy bastard" gets pelted at him because his agent said he wouldn't stay for any price.
Not many people have a clue what they’re talking about when it comes to Everton. Great to see Onuoha actually watches the games before commenting. Quality stuff
Sean dyche is an unbelievable manager. This snobbery around style of play is actually so boring. Name another manager who could take Burnley up, and then keep them there on such a small budget (also qualified for Europe btw) people pipe off kompany after spending a fortune just to get relegated 😂 because there’s this narrative he plays “good football” aka his centre half’s touch the ball a lot
When Everton was flying right before and after the first deduction, Dyche actually was experimenting with different ways of playing. Yes, most of it was still very vertical and direct, but it was a lot more on the deck and focused on attacking through central areas. Creating chances all over the shop As they fell into a relegation battle towards the business end of the season, he experimented less and less; he reverted more to the typical idea people have of Dyche-ball. Without the deductions, I imagine he would have continued to try different things
@@jamesbaurus5928 that’s what a proper manager does tho, look for ways to evolve a side but okay within the team he has. We see managers come into struggling sides and just copy and paste “pass out from the back, overload midfield, keep it on the floor” when they clearly don’t have players to do that or the quality to do it against better teams and end up going down. Dyche has good centre half’s, physicality in the middle and up top so it suits him to be direct now if they want to stay up. I think he is clever enough to evolve them and start pushing for Europe in time with a bit of money behind him.
If you look at Luton and how much money they spent...and how much the likes of Everton and Forrest spent...i mean if they stay in EPL they are an incredible story(which they already are) that could inspire more teams to do this
As an Everton fan, I don’t see us going down, but if we do… no chance in hell do we come straight back up. Financially a mess, too many players will go (Pickford included), and would probably end up changing from Dyche.
I think you're right, the team will be gutted and the off-field pandemonium won't resolve itself over an off season. That being said, Everton have a pedigree and they would be attractive to a benefactor.
I don't get the conversation about you going down at this point. You're so far ahead of Luton at this point and if you win against Luton, it's basically over for them. Just sensationalist nonsense
Why would a benefactor want to buy Everton? The days of rich men buying football clubs for fun are long over; they cost too much to be bought for anything other than either an investment or sportswashing. Everton have already seen how sportswashing can go wrong with ‘Uncle Uzzy’; a club which is in huge debt, haemorrhage millions every week, and stripped of Premier League revenue would be no person’s idea of a clever investment. Everton need to find a way of stripping their outgoings every single year whilst staying up, for a long time. Maybe they’ll manage it but it won’t be much fun.
Luton's wage budget is almost a third of Everton's and Forest's. Forest spent over £100 million when they got to the Prem, Luton spent £22 million. Fact is that if you're spending a fraction of what your rivals spend, of course its going to be difficult to compete. So slating them for having a bad XG against without putting those stats in a wider perspective is pretty harsh imo.
It's not taken out of context because Burnley and Soton give up quite a bit less chances despite having somewhat closer to Lutins budget. The obsession with Lutin comes from A) a good story and B) Vibes/eye test. It's not harsh, it's reality. They are really really bad defensively while trying to defend resolutely Also comparative to spending, Everton's defense is quite good. 4th in the league despite. Being 11th or 12th in wages. But Luton absolutely did things the right way so that if they go down, they go down in better shape than when they went up
So truthfully, I was interested in the subject matter, when I saw it was this guy being interviewed about it I was like ‘Oh yeah sort of remember him, might not be into this but I’ll give it five minutes’ He’s incredible, interesting, insightful. I like that he’s not trying to be a UA-cam sensation like the current crop of pundits. I’m now looking for other stuff he’s been in. That is talent right there.
Forest xGA indicates that basically horrific goalkeeping is largely responsible for them struggling so bad. That and blatantly corrupt Luton VAR refs. I kid... but also hope Atwell gets a vicious case of athletes foot that lasts for 91 weeks.
Havent Forest bought 4 keepers in the last year? If you have to buy that many it would suggest that at least 3 of them have been terrible so despite not watching many of their matches your stat about the xGA probably seems about right because of that
How they have someone daft like Micah (although a nice bloke) but he’s clueless and just reiterates what other pundits say.. when you could have Nedum! Nedum’s better than the lot
I like Nedum but I also think formats matter. For podcasts where you have more time to put your point across, Nedum is the better choice. For TV where you have a few minutes to talk, Micah is the better choice.

“They’ll sell as many players as they can. But also keep a tonne of them.” HOW CAN BOTH OF THESE THINGS BE TRUE? Absolutely inane pair of statements.
