  • Here is a full how-to video on how I installed ROX speed fx 2in risers and ProTaper contour handlebars on my 2014 Yamaha TW200. It also includes all the modifications I had to do to make it happen. Definitely, the best mod I have done so far, makes the TW feel like a completely different bike!
hope this video is helpful! let me know if you have any questions. thanks for watching!

Okay so am I on crack or is $112 more than a little crazy for a cable?? Did they go up in price since you bought yours, or were they always that expensive?

Finally a young buck that's not a hack master. There are three ways to fix things. 1- Total hack job, 2- fixed but easy to tell something has been done (usually orange silicone everywhere) and 3 - Fixed like OEM and nobody will ever know. You do nice work.

I'm watching this 2 years later, no longer a Tdub owner, but I miss the bike and am a sucker for well done How To videos. I don't know why you don't get more "likes" - probably folks are so stoked at how easy you make this look they just run out and start working on the bike, totally forgetting to hit that thumbs up. Great video! It also convinces me that I'll take mine to our LBS to have the work done, along with installing a different set of sprockets to get a little more speed without maxxing out the RPMs. I don't need the tractor gears since I use Willow for a true ADV machine on the miles of dirt forest roads around here. We're almost next door to the Washington BDR, but I need to get on the 60mph highway to get on it. Since it's Washington, everybody drives 10mph over the speed limit.

Just wanted to let ya know about the vessel 980 impacta JIS screwdriver. US phillips and Japanese JIS screws are not the same at all. Check out the JIS #2 driver. You'll never strip another phillips screw on a Japanese bike again. Everyone that's worked on Carb bowl on a bike has stripped a bowl screw. Never again with one of these. Might be a great idea for a video. I have some links on my channel if you have trouble finding them. Hope it helps buddy.

Unless I am mistaken, those aren't Philips, but the awfully similar looking JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screws. They are on my circa 1984 Honda, and since the TW 200 is almost unchanged since '87, I think it would be true here as well. Recommend a JIS screwdriver set from Amazon, will dig in deeper and work smoother. I learned this the hard way.

Does anyone know if it's ever possible to get (or make) an actual harness extender, you know, with the appropriate Fe/male connector blocks already fitted on, say, a 150mm length of cable(s), ready to just plug in and go?

@tdubskid thanks for other reply on tires, now question on handle bars. If I go with pro taper bars with no riser just standard height clamps will I need to do any adjustments on cable and positioning ect? Do bars taper down to 7/8”? Just wondering for ordering grips and same hand guards with mirror you installed. Keep up the excellent videos great help to us tdub owners new and old 👍🏻🍻

Depends on which bars you get there are many bends. The 1-1/8 bars go to 8/8 where the grips go. Highway dirt bikes only sells them for 1-1/8 bars now. I’ll keep them coming. Good to hear!

Good video. As a former tech, I dont recommend cable lube as it deteriorates cable lining and will cause greater problems in the future. If the throttle or clutch cable does not function smoothly and routing is correct, replace them. You can also install grips with compressed air and not use any chemicals at all.
