Im an Artist over 30 years. Ive done several murals and graphics on exteriors and vehicles. It is amazing how much time is spent on prep. You cannot skip the process if you want a quality finish.. Looking forward to seeing your results.
We were very happy with the results. After almost 2 years the paint looked like new. I had planned to rework the area where a vinyl molding that ran around the center where the 2 halves on the outside joined. I'm saying this in past tense because in November, we suffered a catastrophic blowout on a rear tire that totaled the coach. Here is a link to those episodes Our Beautiful Alfa SeeYa DP Motorcoach Was Totaled By A Blowout: ua-cam.com/play/PLRLgCPSMRdUxsu7aXnF2IydQ3PGYHKSJS.html. Hope you stick with us. We'll have more projects in the future.
My old man used to paint box trucks. He’s long gone and I have a 20 year old motor coach. I need to paint some of it now. If I wasn’t 60+ it be done. Im watching
Kudos to your old man! I wanted to paint Rosie for a long time. Once I removed the old cracked and faded decals it just made me more determined to just do it. I’m 62 and I figured it’s now or never. Thanks for watching and make sure to checkout the upcoming videos and see how it comes out.
Looks good, so far. A recommendation from an old car paint guy is to use wax & grease remover before any sanding. If you sand first, you grind anything on there into the surface, usually causing fish eye. Use the same stuff once sanded right before painting as you did. Can't wait to see the outcome!
Thanks for the heads up! I’ll make sure to do that before anymore sanding. Any recommendations on a good wax? I know I have to wait for the paint to fully cure. I’m buffing with Meguiars ultimate compound, then polishing with their ultimate polish. Thanks for watching.
1/8" thick foam roller, Interlux marine topside paint from Boat US, Murphy's Mystery Oil and expensive badger brush. Interlux has silacone and a few drops of murphy;s in each roller pan= high gloss deep reflection and durable.
Project complete! I followed your instructions and with good weather, time and patience I was able to complete the paint job in a timely manner. Total cost was less than $2k. Everyone is impressed, including myself. Thank you so much!!
@jehudd2011 glad the videos were helpful and you had a good result. Thanks for sharing. It’s good to hear that people that have watched and followed the process I used are saving money and having great results. Thanks again for watching!
I figured it was time to put up or shut up! Once the decals were off. It made it so there was no turning back. Thanks for watching and supporting me. Make sure to check the upcoming videos to see how it comes out.
Linda thinking I’m crazy is nothing new. The process seems to be working! Make to checkout the upcoming videos to see how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately I’m not a coffee drinker. Iced Tea is my source of caffeine. We don’t look back we plow forward and do the best we can. Thanks for watching and make sure to check the upcoming videos to see how it comes out.
@ actually my speakers went out. Thanks for the response, enjoy your videos. Ordered supplies for my project and waiting for some warmer weather to get started.
We didn’t have very many pox. The cold seems to bring them out. We had some cold weather and some pox came out. I filled them and repainted the area. Looks good again. Thanks for watching!
Kudos to you on your decision to tackle a big job! Sometimes we have to sit back and watch the crazy ones to see if something can be accomplished. Then they don’t seem to be crazy at all. Thanks for watching.
The reason I chose oil was so I could wet sand, buff and polish. I tried a Water based Urethane paint but it didn’t have the gloss. Thanks for watching!
At 4.13 in your video You show a molding piece and actually point at it. What do you call that? my RV need something similar to it and I actually can't figure it out.
That is the molding piece where the top and bottom pieces of gel come together. They were manufactured specifically for the Alfa motorhome. I have seen automotive side moldings on Amazon. I’m not sure where you would find something specifically made for RV’s. Hope this helps.
I hope it looks better than most of the spray can painted cars I've seen driving on the road. Where is Earl Schieb when you need him? He'd paint any car for $29.95 back in the day and guarantee it for 3 years. :)

I'm 68 and I'm doing my '93 Fleetwood Bounder....

Meguires us good stuff, I like a good Carnuva Wax on paint. Wait about 90 days, or so.
I had someone tell me 30 days then wax. Thanks for the tip on the 90 days. I’ll make sure and wait at least 90 days before waxing.

I almost went with Total Boat Topside along with the Brushing Thinner.
Thanks for watching!
Hey thx for the diy video. I’ll be using your method on my 2004 Damon daybreak and let you know how it turns out.
Please do. We almost bought a Damon. They're another well built coach.

You told me about paint job but wow doing it yourself kudos to you determination wins. Can’t wait to see it finished don’t forget to reseal everything

Very cool project. Look forward to watching it progress.
More videos to come showing the process. Thanks for watching!
I use Rapid Prep for my degreaser. It's from the same company as your Rapid remover for removing the vinyl. I likw it because it's biodegradable.
I’ll have to remember that for next. Thanks for watching!
I'm with you Linda, I think Jamie is nuts doing all that. I hope it turns out as good as he wants.
Linda thinking I’m crazy is nothing new. The process seems to be working! Make to checkout the upcoming videos to see how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
@@RoamingWithRosie I certainly will be watching.
Thanks for sharing, miss our rock walls and gravel yards while living in Texas. Florida is our home now.
We have family in Florida on both coasts. All the green you could ever want and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Thanks for watching!
Well Jamie there's no going back now. Not sure how your going to pull this off without coffee. {good luck buddy}
Unfortunately I’m not a coffee drinker. Iced Tea is my source of caffeine. We don’t look back we plow forward and do the best we can. Thanks for watching and make sure to check the upcoming videos to see how it comes out.
At 12:30 I lost sound, was that by design?
maybe your internet or cable?
@ actually my speakers went out. Thanks for the response, enjoy your videos. Ordered supplies for my project and waiting for some warmer weather to get started.
Did sealing the coach with paint, stop further pox from developing?
We didn’t have very many pox. The cold seems to bring them out. We had some cold weather and some pox came out. I filled them and repainted the area. Looks good again.
Thanks for watching!
Brave or crazy is what I heard when I decided to polish my 35ft fifth wheel. 😊 Good luck RWR

I'm using water based satin on my front cap of my Alpha 5th wheel, I want a shiny finish should I do final coat in oil ? Good vid.
The reason I chose oil was so I could wet sand, buff and polish. I tried a Water based Urethane paint but it didn’t have the gloss.
Thanks for watching!
What makes you choose the reddish bondo spot putty vs the glass fiber bondo?
The spot putty is a finishing putty. So any minor imperfections you find after sanding the Bondo glass. You would use the spot putty to fill.

What type of sander do you recommend?
I used a 5” Ryobi Orbital Sander.
Just passed ya at the Stanley Hotel!
Did you see us, or our car? Should've stopped us.
@RoamingWithRosie You in the car. That parking lot was packed packed or else we absolutely would have given a shout!
I hope it looks better than most of the spray can painted cars I've seen driving on the road. Where is Earl Schieb when you need him? He'd paint any car for $29.95 back in the day and guarantee it for 3 years. :)
Know we are dating ourselves. Earl Schieb, no ups, no extras. We will see once it’s wet sanded and buffed out.
Earl Sheib😂, lmao, I came home from college and my asshole father painted the car banana yellow to this day I know he did it to spite me.
I was really hoping to see the front painted, the areas that you bondoed
There is a series of videos of me painting the RV. Check them out.
I cant wait to retire lol. I'm gonna have all kinds of projects like this 😊
Owning a RV there are always things to do.
Thanks for watching!
