1:30: Fuck is actually all but guarranteed to be derived from a German dialect, probably dutch. It's actually a German word that became more popular in Englisch.
Very accurate. Around here in Belgium it's mostly the same but we have a ton of weird curse words that are derived from French as well.
I work with a Nigerian. He is quite intelligent, educated...he says that in the last few decades, most of the intelligent, who had the ability, moved to Europe or America for education then never went back because those countries (yes, I know Europe isn't a country, I was using it as a collection of countries) had better lifestyles, were safer, etc. Leaving behind a disproportionate number of less educated, less motivated people. So your grandmother may have been speaking from that perspective. Maybe not, just trying to help.
My cousin practically married a guy with similar background, he is hard working, smart, nice and fully integrated, including being in time, and ghana tries everything to keep people with any education in the country to let them work there for free. The people seem nice and hard working but the corruption is terrible and poverty. And they cant deal with money at all because the poverty everywhere, and the danger of civil wars, dictators, ... . And he comes from the stabile half.
There are good reasons for people to come to europe and stay there, and their family profits too because even with the jobs that donr earn much you are rich in that standard. That is liklely mostly the case with immigrants from africa. They arent even selfish, because i guess most support their family with the earned money which i think applies to most immigrants from poorer countries.
That background is quite common i think. And not even selfish, the families i think want them there to get a bit of support .
As a Scot, i can say that we usually use 'Spas' it's usually when someone does something with no discernible reason or acts particularly stupid

Fun fact. Fotze in bavaria also refers to mustache, so a "Fotzenhobel" means mouth harp(you grind the harp on your mustache). It is thinkable that the word fotze, came from an era before people shaved them selves downstairs, so lips with beard = fotze.

Contrary to the jokes and stereotypes, German people tend to be rather soft-spoken, it's considered rude and impolite to speak loudly in public (unless of course you have a reason to do so).

There are also words like "Göre" or "Balg" that have over the year become curse words for adults towards children. It's not meant to be overly negative, but usually is only said in combination with adjectives like "dummes" (stupid). And obviously there are all the animals as cursewords and once again...thanks to the German language you can basically combine any number of words to strengthen your expression. "Obermacker", "Schweinepriester" and basically anything combined with genitalia.
Also pretty much anything that contains "Fresse" which is like a derogatory term for mouth or face derived from "fressen" which usually describes animals eating. Examples: "halt die Fresse" is a very aggressive way of saying "shut up" or if you insult someone as ugly you might call them "Hackfresse"
Scottish person here, we tend to call people spastics when they act like complete idiots or just generally make fools of themselves

When I was studying in 1989 in Mainz, I'd been told, before heading over, that it was considered rude in Germany to refer to someone by skin color, and that Germans, instead, used their word for, "Negro", which unfortunately sounded like, "The N-Word," to English-speakers. So, yeah, back in the 1980s, it hadn't adopted the negative connotations it now has.
I don't know when it flipped, buy my hypothesis is that we Americans are to blame. You see, whenever we [white Americans] are faced wtih _anything_ that reminds us of our own racism [especially if it reminds us that our racist past isn't still in the past], we *_freak the fsck out_* and attack whatever is reminding us. As if smashing that reminder like an archacnophobe going after a spider will somehow make all of the racist things we've said behind closed doors go away. [Hip-Hop and US gang-culture probably didn't help, either, since Germans aren't going to know the unspoken context behind the use of "The N-word" in those two millieus.]

We use spastico in Italy as well, in a similar way to how Germans do, and "mongolo" (which, coincidentally, also means "Mongolian") as a pejorative for people with Down's Syndrome, for reasons that still to this day are mysterious to me, although I seem to have noticed that folks born after year 2000 have progressively abandoned both of them.
People with down syndrome were called mongoloides in the middle ages because they kinda looked like the invading mongols.

I'm czech and one mild swear word that I really like is "trotl"-. It's a german word originally, but I have no idea what region it is from. It's like idiot but less severe or like a dunce maybe. I feel like people use it less than they ought to, because it's a funny sounding word and I really like it.
I had a German friend who taught me a costarrican expression "carepicha" (dickface) to Schwanzgesicht... I am not sure if I still write it properly it was about 20 years ago.

Spastic comes from Spasm, which is a tetanus and seizure thing. During a spasm a persons muscles will move uncontrollably around. So a spastic is someone flipping around uncontrolably or without thought in a physical way like epilepsy or a non-physical way like doing a bunch of retarded shit in a short period of time. Usually shit that requires a lot of effort to jump around.

Scotsman here, the word Spaztic was used as an insult for people who had cerebral palsy and became a term of abuse that was used to imply stupidity, physical or emotional ineptness i.e. a person who is uncoordinated, Angry or incompetent. So in other words it’s just another word for idiot.
In the context of “the n-word”, there is a sort of cultural equivalent which this young man does not mention, which is the “Z-Wort”, that is, “Zigeuner”...

The only people that still use it as an insult are rascist old people and edgy teens but we dont shy away from it as much as americans do when discussing the word in an academic sense.
Like we dont call people that but when discussing the word as a word it is not as frowned upon to use the word itself. But the majority under the age of 40 doesnt use it even in this context.
