  • A quick review from an average bloke about the Nissan Titan SV and PR0-4x models. This is my favorite full-size truck even though it is kinda the underdog of the full size truck world. It has the basics that I like and need without all the luxury stuff that I would worry about tearing up. Check it out!

Nice to see someone give Nissan some credit they deserve.
The XD is pretty much a HD truck. It weighs what Gas F250, and GM 2500 trucks weigh. There are 2 things that keep it from full HD. It has a semi floating rear axle and 6 lugs where as the full HD trucks have a full floater and 8 lugs.
The XD has HD recirculating ball steering and a full HD frame straight from the NV3500 vans. The XD can essentially tow at its max comfortably in terms of stability where as regular 1/2 tons might have some white knuckle experiences.

@@kypetrolhead I forgot to add that the 20+ XD has beefier brakes and a 4.08 axle ratio vs 3.69 for the regular 20+ Titans.
Hurts me a little to see them go. I’ve had a 13 Titan for 10 years. Tow with it often. Heavy too. Been a great truck. Have also had several Frontiers and Hardbodys.
      What year is your Frontier?

I have owned 2 xds, frame and suspension is different than the regular titan. Additionally it's rating actually is the same as a f250 crewcab xl 4x4. What nissan did was put it at the very bottom of the class 2 segment on purpose. They did this because they don't sell enough small cars to offset the federal government carb taxes of a mid level super duty. A f250 xl is basically a heavy Half ton. The xd you can buy the "plow package" which increases the payload and towing capacity. What is scary to me is a base f250 is nearly identical to the xd but marketed simply by name. People overload 250s all the time. I have towed at max load on both of my XDs and it towed awesome. It is too bad nissan is discontinuing them. I will also say this, those making the 8 lug comment, those are 100 percent a marketing ploy and add no additional strength to anything. Look at semis outside the USA, better yet look at fuzo or nissan class 5 or larger trucks, hmmmm 6 lugs just really big ones.

I think Nissan knew or knows of engine issues but did not do a recall, instead they fix everything with no questions asked. I spoke to the service tech and they have a Nissan Titan that has been on its fourth engine. I initially got a check engine light on and was told it was a O2 sensor, after bringing it in it ended up needing an engine. Apparently they found metal shavings once they opened it up.

I like how you compared two different trims. I’ve been looking at the titan for a couple years now and this pro 4x is my dream truck. Drove a new silverado the other day and it was real nice, but much more money. I like the back seat better in the Chevy but idk it’s a tough choice. That 5.6 is way better than the 5.3 in my opinion. Awesome review, thanks!

My 2023 Titan has the Titan Boxes and the rail system. I really like the boxes, I wish they would have kept the rails on the bed floor. My '09 Frontier has the bed rails and they do come in handy and have used them in the past. Less than the cost of the competition? 55k for a pro4x near me. A similarly equiped tundra is 56k. You can get a locker in any of the big 3 half tons for 10k less. Looked hard at these, but couldnt justify the price, and the transmission shifted terribly coming to a stop multiple times on the test drive.

We had a 21' pro4x. My only two isses were the transmission, which supposedly they have rememdied with a reflash. Also, i hated how the rear door barely opened, we have kids and getting them in and out was a pain because the doors opened to like 45 degrees and not 90. Great truck otherwise. Better than the rest on the market for sure.
