I could not agree more. I have a 2012 Titan S with close to two hundred thousand miles that I dearly love. It does everything I need it to do, pulls my trailer and Slingshot like its nothing, handles like a dream and is stunningly rust free (Ohio). My only complaint is with the gas gauge. It works way to well, 16 mpg empty and 11.5 with trailer, but then again pickup trucks aren't known for great gas mileage. The Toyota is clearly a beautiful truck that is up to any challenge your average owner would ever need. That being said, and I loudly admit my bias here, there is nothing like a Titan, old or new.

I recently purchased a pro4x after exhaustive research on all ½ton trucks.
When looking at budget the Nissan offered so much more than any other manufacturer for the $$$. Definitely more truck for the money. The only thing I could possibly complain about is that the seats are a little hard on the rear end, a gell foam cushion fixed that.
When looking at the tundra the best thing I could figure is you will pay more before it's a Toyota.

My truck buying journey started in 2021.
The 2021 TRD Pro Tundra in Lunar Rock didn’t happen after months on order. There’s a bad story behind that whole experience - that would turn into a novel if I tried to write it down! Got my deposit back.
I moved on and checked into the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4 - and another somewhat annoying story with this one. The dealership wouldn’t sell a truck without a trade-in. …A blessing in disguise.
Then, I ordered a 2022 Chevy Trail Boss in Sand Dune Metallic. …which I still think is a sweet looking truck.
Well, the 2022 didn’t happen. I had to re-order for the 2023 Trail Boss.
After months of waiting, the 2023 didn’t happen either. The dealership informed me that I would have to re-order for 2024 - and, by the way, Chevy had discontinued the Sand Dune Metallic color.
Got my deposit back from that dealership also.
I cannot recall how exactly I stumbled upon the 2023 Nissan Titan Pro 4X in Baja Storm, but I saw it online or something. I went to a Nissan dealership that had one on the lot - and just fell in love with it. It wasn’t my intention to buy the truck that day. A manager said he would take $1,000 off the price. I said no. He replied $2,000. I still said that I wanted to take time to think on it. When he offered to take off $3,000, I broke and purchased the truck.
I got the 2023 Nissan Titan Pro 4X for under 60k. The Trail Boss that I tried to order was going to cost over 70k!!
And to be honest, now I think I actually like the looks of the Baja Storm Pro 4X over the Sand Dune Metallic Trail Boss. And I like many other things about the Pro 4X too.
So… things worked out for the best. I’m just sorry that it took years for me to look into the Nissan Titan Pro 4X.

    1. Offer heated and cooled seats WITHOUT the panoramic roof.
    2. Program the truck to shut off the rear parking sensors when a trailer is plugged in.
    3. Add power extending/folding tow mirrors with power convex adjustment.
    4. Wireless charging phone holder.
    5. Higher payload.
    6. Higher resolution camaras.
    7. Less torque management in lower gears.
    8. 30+ gallon fuel tank.
    Love my Titan!

@kaweka Just not an option I am interested in paying for. Nissan already makes you add the Utility Package ($2,190), and Convenience Package ($3,390) if you want cooled seats. That's fine for the most part, because cooled seats require the leather upholstery included in the Convenience Package. But why do I have to buy a pano roof if I want cooled seats? I would prefer to have standard roof in Arizona. Less failure/leak possibilities, higher payload (about 100 lbs), and would cost less ($1200). Would be nice if Nissan options were al-a-carte like Ford offers.

If you can get a V8 tundra at a good price with low mileage go for it....
The Titan I got has these little quirks that I can live with. The blower motor makes a little noise and every once in a while the rear the truck feels like it has a delayed 2nd gear downshift. I was told by the lead corporate engineer the the pro 4x models have an inherent issue with the rear settling in when you come to a very slow stop. The SV models don't have this issue.
I really like my titan and how it handles and rides. Both trucks are good. I don't like buying used cars because you never know the history.

Good comparison Ben. Just picked up a '23 Pro 4X and so far it's great, breaking in nicely at 500 miles and getting 19mpg combined as long as I don't put my foot into it too much. Give the Titan fit and finish a B+(hey, it's a truck) and the interior an A+. No cylinder deactivation and no auto stop/start. GM has their problems with that. Ram is all eTorque. A new replacement of my '18 F-150 5.0 FX4 would have cost 15-20k more. So far I like the Titan better than the F-150. One YT reviewer complained about the orange dash button lighting on the Titan, but I like it. I can see everything clearly including the headlamp setting. On the F-150 I had a heck of a time seeing what the headlamp setting was as the knob and the indicators were so small.

I like both. From a functionality standpoint, both have insufficient payload for my needs. Sure they can tow 10,000 lbs, but the tongue weight and the driver takes up nearly all of the payload. Of course, the lesser trim levels that are less off-road oriented would provide a bit better payload. If money were not object, I would go for the Tundra. If I were spending my money, I would bank the $10K and get my aftermarket equipment (shell, bed slide, etc.) and buy the Titan.

Titan is for those who need and use a truck: hauling, towing, etc. Tundra is for those who sometimes need a truck; a grocery getter. Tundra maintenance cost will be much higher, if only because of more frequent oil changes. Turbos require very clean oil; else they fail quickly, and will be very big bucks to replace. When used as a real truck in real conditions, say towing 5k#, the Tundra has worse mpg than the Titan, and the Titan gives much greater control (hands on experience here). Titan has far better seats; very important for long hauls. Titan is the better value and performer overall for real truck owners. The only real advantage to Toyota is the engines are DPI, which should avoid having to clean sooty valves in say 50k miles. Rumours abound for the Titan discontinued; but Nissan has said nothing, and I can't see that occurring. Maybe the V8 will be gone, but replaced with a turbo v6 (hopefully DPI).

No cylinder deactivation, interior sturdier than the Toyota, no complex hybrid AND turbo small V6, tundra grill is way too large for a what is under the hood..

Ben, i really like your reviews - thank you. Interesting take: “Titan is what new Toyota would have been if Toyota decided to continue v8”.
    I have some comments:
-Nissan is known for giving generous discounts $4-6k recently. Toyota usually doesnt give discounts and sometimes adds premium. The price difference is probably closer to $15k.
    - I needed a tow vehicle, the only reason for a truck. Owned Toyota SUVs for many years and they were solid, never ever broke down. Naturally went to look at Toyota. Payload of only ~$1300lbs, only D-rated tires. Then look at Titan’s bigger brother Titan XD. I was surprised how luxury it felt. Way more payload, factory E rated tires, tow mirrors, factory gooseneck! As much as i would have loved to get a Toyota, Nissan was a clear step above. Of course, i am talking about Titan XD which you didnt review in this video but the cab, powertrain and features are the same.

I had a 202o TRD Off Road with the cloth seats. Loved it. But I totaled it. My bad. I replaced it with the 2021 Platinum Reserve. I must say the seats are the best. The fender system is much better than the JBL. The cameras are fuzzy but good enough. The V* is awesome. I just don't trust the V6 turbo. Plus the Nissan has a 5 year / 100k miles bumper to bumper warranty. No one can touch it and its a lot cheaper. Oh, the back door of the Titan needs to open more and the back seat has less room than my 202 Tundra. But since I don't sit back there I really don't care. Cheers......

I've owned almost every toyota and lexus models but that will be changing going forward. I would choose the Titan over the new Tundra/Tacoma at this point. TFL tacoma broke on mild offroading. Most likely transfer case is broken on the new Tacoma. Nissan Frontiers are good trucks that are overlooked too. Nissan truck prices are reasonable unlike the new toyota products.

Just bought a new 2023 Titan SV. To me it had a smoother ride than the pro. Pro seemed to be set up for off-road enthusiasts and had a more sporty look. V8 is awesome, good 9 speed tranny, a good ride for a big truck, plus averaging almost 20mpg on 87 octane. Not happy with some of the sensors, particularly the front parking sensor which buzzes only about 3 to 4 feet before a garage door. Also Android auto takes awhile to boot up as does Apple CarPlay. Sometimes you have to play around with the device connections to get results. Feel the headlights could be brighter. However, believe I got it for a decent deal with options I will definitely use along with 0 financing for 60 months and 60 month 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty. For me the towing capacity of 9300+ lbs is sufficient which is a couple of hundred pounds more than the Pro and I get better MPG than the Pro. They are both very capable and easily rival the other major large pickup truck brands.

Altima and sentra which are good ... Starter cars. I see them everywhere hanging by a thread. And versa. But heres the kicker. Nissan has a 350 z which is a blast. And they brought the z back! The new Pathfinder is solid , the rogue is solid, but the titan and pro 4x frontier blow everything out the water imo.its a throwback no gimmicks truck as much as it can . The titan has v8 and frontier has v6 STANDARD. Naturally aspirated. While the competition has 4 cyl. I think the only trucks worth it now are toyota and nissan
