    Solid review and yes the other manufactures are having way bigger issues than what you mentioned with your Titan. Titan is probably the most reliable 1/2 ton right now.
    I have a 13 with 130k. Tows often. It’s only had 2 issues worth mentioning in 10 years. The passenger side rear axle seal started leaking at 105,000 miles. Pretty easy and cheap fix if you can do it yourself. The starter did not fail but showed signs it was going to at 125,000 miles. Starter is under the manifold so pretty pricey if I were to take it to a shop but I did that myself. I really can’t complain about how it’s treated me. Titans since day 1 have been criminally underrated.

    '23 Titan Pro 4X bought in September '23, traded an '18 F-150 FX4 5.0. Like the truck so far, getting 18 mpg combined with 7k on the OD. Alignment right out of the gate (steering wheel off center), transfer case actuator recall, auto tailgate lock not connected, then the the tailgate lock actuator needed replacing, the radio head/LCD needed replacing because of permanent imprints of the screen, so I put a glass screen protector on the new one. One of the few things I don't like as much as the F-150 is less room and storage in the back seat as the wheelbase is about 4" shorter. My dealership has a great service department which makes a huge difference. I'm going to make sure to adhere to the recommended service intervals to keep my 5 year/100,000 mile intact. I can afford to put the recommended premium gas and it does make a difference in power and smoothness. No leaks from my sunroof or rear window, I checked. If you want a longer wheelbase, longer bed and more towing I think a loaded XD would be the ticket. Nissan should keep making this truck, but the govt. CAFE regs are the problem.

  • @Doctocracy

    I spent a lot of time researching a half ton pickup. At first I thought I wanted a Tundra TRD Pro, but got instant sticker shock. Then I looked at the GMC AT4 and the Chevy ZR2...again really expensive. Then looked at the F-150 Tremor and Ram Rebel. $$$$$ if I wanted to get the V8. Came across a few videos about the Titan and really dug in. All the features I wanted, without turbos, hybrids, auto-stop/start, cylinder deactivation stuff I didn't. Plus the price was great.
    Sent out half a dozen emails to dealers in a 100 mile radius asking for OTDs on specific Pro4x's on their respective lots. Heard back from a few, but not all. Went to one dealership on a Sunday to check out the truck in person. Liked it. Few weeks later the truck was still on the lot so I got pre-approved for a loan and went in for a test drive. I was not disappointed.
    Ended up getting it for $11,000 under MSRP ($65,160...the number is burned into my memory) and got a good deal on my '16 Wrangler. I was more pleased with this buying experience than any I've had in my lifetime. Best part, the truck is fantastic. Responsive, comfortable. I've only had it for a little over a week, so still in the honeymoon phase, but I'm pleased with my decision. It's my first Nissan.
    Thanks for putting together a solid, impartial review.

    I have a 2022 pro4x, bought used with 25000 miles. Now at 35000 and love it. I agree with almost everything you said. Where we differ is fuel economy. On the highway, mine gets 16.5 hand calculated. On 2 lane rural roads, about 13.5. I traded a '22 F150 with a bad 10 speed trans Ford wouldn't fix. While the Titan 9 speed is slightly quirky, it's light years better than that Ford 10 speed. The Titan seats are the best I've ever sat in. Power delivery, smoothness, and drivability from the 5.6 are outstanding. I put a 14-inch Magnaflow on mine, and it sounds phenomenal. The ride, for an off-road truck, is very good. My only other complaint is that the cruise control is overly aggressive. Overall, great trucks.

    -He's right. The front bumper paint sucks. Totally sucks. I did a spray on matte finish on mine. Haven't looked back.
    -I don't mind the plastic tailgate at all. Doesn't bother me and I put everything from firewood to atvs...and the rear wheels are on the tailgate. No issues.
    -The weird downshift from 2 to 1 is a thing. Doesn't happen every time as the video indicated. Sometimes the trans doesn't shift up at the right time either.
    -The screen does scratch.
    -The seats are super comfy. I love it on long drives.

    Hi, I picked up the same truck in December but a pearl blue XD version, 2023 model. I don't think there are any differences to the 2024. Your review and fussiness are spot on. I have noticed all these items on mine and have the exact same experiences, I have noticed that the downshift issue rarely happens but when it does it's if I coast to a stop. If I brake to a stop it never happens to me or l probably don't notice it. I have over 18K miles on mine and just got back from a Montana trip, drove through Idaho and the speed limit is 85MPH, I usually drive slightly over the speed limit and I averaged just under 20MPG. I was not towing anything but the truck was loaded. I'm in agreement, the mileage on a truck this size with a NA V8 is actually not that bad. Now I have experienced the head unit lock up issue and have traced it to when I switch from Bluetooth to a wired Apple Carplay. If I need to charge my phone (occasionally the head unit doesn't make that switchover properly when I plug the phone into the USB port). If I remember to turn off the BT when I connect to the USB, this problem never happens. I will probably add a wireless charging pad to eliminate having to connect the phone to the USB all together. My Titan is replacing an '09 Frontier that has over 218K trouble free miles. I'm hoping to get the same level of reliability from the Titan. Since I'm close to retirement, if I do, this might well be the last truck I buy. This is an excellent review of a great truck that has just the right amount of technology for an excellent value. Hate to see it go but who knows if and when it might come back. Oh by the way if you want to sell your bed rail handle give me a shout out.

    • @videozar_
      @videozar_  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the great comment Mario. Sounds like other than the head unit, we've had very similar experiences. I had a Subaru with freezing/disconnecting issues. There's so many factors these days...but your assumption about BT might be it. As for that bed handle, I'm going to hang onto it. I intend to find some sort of extension for it so it'd still fit on the rail under the tonneau cover. Just haven't gotten around to doing so yet. Thanks again...

    21’ Titan Pro4x, 36000 miles on it in a bit over two years. Two issues I’ve had. The lurching when coming to a stop transmission early on, but they reprogrammed the transmission, 90% resolved it. At 30000 they had to replace throttle body & gasket. That’s it, short list. Drives better than any of the other current 1/2tons. I get 20-21mpg highway. Rural/in town 16ish. I’d definitely buy another one. And, my dogs also like it a lot too.

    Great video. I bought a used 2021 Titan XD Platinum Reserve and I’m enjoying it. I came out of a 2006 Titan with very few issues. One thing that drives me crazy is backing up and when you go forward, you have to hit the camera button to get the forward view. I also don’t like that the parking sensor goes on every time you’re backing up a trailer and then moving forward and backing up again, you have to turn it off each time. I’m glad to you noticed the front bumper being uneven. Like you, I can’t un-see that now. I’ve had a body seam leak issue that was repaired under warranty as well as a four-wheel-drive/ABS sensor issue. I don’t know about you, but the main reason I bought the truck was because of its five year/100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. I have a feeling it will come in handy.

    I’ve owned my ‘21 Pro4X (non-XD) since new. Mine came loaded. The only options I didn’t go for the factory side steps (wanted aftermarket) and bed mounted light bar (ugly, and gets in the way of my ski rack and overlanding set up). At the time, MSRP was $62,000. I think it’s inched up a bit in the past couple of years. Due to post Covid supply chain issues, I was only able to get $4000 off of sticker price. And for that, I had to drive from Salt Lake City to Boise. I traded “down” from a ‘20 Ram 2500 Megacab Laramie Level II w/Cummins. While the Ram was a fantastic truck, I rarely miss it. I’m coming up on 50,000 miles. I’ve taken numerous trips in blizzards and deep snow. I’ve baja’d in the dessert. It’s been on some technical 4WD trails. And towed my 7,500 lb GVWR TT up steep mountain passes more than a few times. It does everything well. I installed the factory icon lift with some black rhino wheels and Falkein Wildleak AT3W tires. It’s got a handful of other mods that are both functional and nice looking. I get comments on how awesome it looks weekly. The only thing broken has to do with the soldered rear window defroster. I haven’t taken it in yet. I haven’t been in a big hurry because of the five year 100,000 mile warranty. My only complaint is gas mileage. But, all the other half ton trucks are going to be close once you put on a lift kit and 35 inch tires. That’s just how it is. I would recommend this truck to anybody. I would buy it in a heartbeat. I have no doubt that it will go many miles and last a long time.

    Great Video.
    I used to have a 2018 Frontier Pro-4x and I loved it. The upgraded JBL audio in it was really nice. I didn't care for the sub under the back seat because I liked the storage more personally. It was a great truck but I felt the same with the transmission and it also had a dead spot in the gas pedal. You'll be driving and hit like 30mph and then no power at all. Had to smash the pedal to the floor for it to figure itself back out again and I did not like that at all. The hill descent was really nice offroading.
    Something to mention because some people might not know but the locker can only be used when in 4Lo but not in 4Hi or 2Hi.
    Never towed with it personally since I didn't have the hitch receiver. I don't tow with the bumper.
    Back when I got it, I got it used from the dealer after a lease with only 20k miles on it and got it for $22k after dropping it from $27k the dealer was asking for it. No sunroof either but I don't like sunroofs so that was a plus to me.

    Glad you like the truck! I'm on my 3rd one!
    It's also worth noting that your truck is missing the three features that are available on the Titan that no other half-ton truck has...
    1: Bed floor mounted rails and sliding clamps (great for tying things down, but also for holding large objects in place that you don't want sliding around in the bed)
    2: Rear seat infotainment system (absolutely priceless if you have kids. Long trips with the kids are much easier than my old Titan which don't have them)
    3: Titan boxes (great extra storage when you want it, and removable when you need the extra bed space!)
    My truck has all three of these and it is going to make it incredibly difficult to find a new truck when it comes time to find another truck again! That really is the best argument for the Titan, besides the warranty, is the value, practicality, and useability that the Titan offers which no other truck on the market can match.

    • @videozar_
      @videozar_  4 місяці тому

      @@videozar_ I'm pretty sure you're right about the bed rails. My Titan XD is a '21, so would definitely make sense. I'm sure the covid supply chain issues probably killed them.
      As for the Titan boxes, I keep my tow straps, hitches, jumper cables, cleats, and a snow brush in them. all noisy and/or dirty stuff that I'd rather not keep in the cab.

    This truck gets so much hate for absolutely no reason. Especially the XD trim (which I’d get for the extra payload and 6.5 bed). Huge backseat, dual pano sunroof, LOCKING REAR DIFF, increased payload over basic half tons (XD) all the creature comforts you need, comfortable seats, reliable v8, and $10k off msrp!!!! Plus I think they offer a crazy factory warranty like 100k miles or something. It’s a great buy! Every other brand’s comparable trim is easily $10-$20k more. I’ll highly consider the XD pro 4x as my next truck. Maybe a slightly used 2024 in a year or two.

    I bought my 23 Nissan Titan p4x for 58k OTD in 10/23. The truck has not had any issues as I now have 15k miles on it. So far I have added the factory ICON 3" lift which makes the truck look better but so much smoother on/off-road. I live in the Northern NV where I off road pretty regularly and people are shocked at how well it does considering its a "Nissan" but it has a 56:1 low range transfer case ,factory locking rear differential and factory 33's these are far superior options to the last gen Tundra . The back doors not opening far drove me nuts with kids and dogs and trying to put groceries, luggage, etc.

Other items I don’t like, seat belt (digs into your neck), I bought seatbelt extenders and that helps. Also the angle of the radio, if the sun is high, it can block out the screen. Overall for the price, can’t complain. On resale, who knows what the future hold with truck prices out of control and so many new engines out there with potential problems. I’m seriously looking at the Titan and moving up to full size. It’s a shame that Nissan didn’t market this truck better and will stop making them. It's the rear spline resetting itself as it comes to a stop. The spline kind of pops back into place. Mine went away after it was packed with grease and wore in. Got my info from a nissan pro tech.
    Good luck with the truck. I love mine. I had a 2020 tundra and went to a titan because I couldn't bring myself to buy a turbo. I'm glad I did given the toyota issues.
