Fun Fact: Don Bluth has said that, if he made the film, he would've made Timmy the villain and Martin the hero. It's unknown if he was joking or if he really meant it.
I wonder the same thing. Did that even happen in the original book's sequel "Rasco and the Rats of NIMH"? I highly doubt Don would diverge that much from the original source material's sequel considering how respectful his adaptation was to the first book even with some changes like the main character's name being changed to avoid a lawsuit with a flying disk toy. True story.
@@hunterolaughlin no Timmy is not the villain in the sequel book. He meets and befriends Jenner’s son Racso which is an anagram for Oscar. Timmy is a student at Thorn Valley and he and Racso team up to stop a construction company from building a dam which would flood Thorn Valley.
@@hunterolaughlinthat frisby thing feels like what Monster energy drink is doing now. Suing any company that wants to use the word Monster in their brand, including Pokemon.
@@huntercoleman460 Yep. I was right. The book’s sequel has a better premise at least than Timmy to the Rescue
@@hunterolaughlin I think MGM didn’t want to pay for the film rights for the sequel book. Racso was written by the original author’s daughter and was published in 1986 four years after the movie came out.
Fun fact: One of the writers was a "creative consultant" on the animated Titanic movie
That explains a lot for both movies
The one with the rapping dog or the one with the kraken?
@@quickman2663 the former
That explains why both films share a huge theme of talking animals 🤨😵💫😵💫😵💫
This makes so much sense and way worse. A least I can say they're so bad there good but still bad.
To quote Raisorblade, "This movie's an UTTER EMBARRESMENT to the original, and I now believe Jenner did nothing wrong!"
Good ol Raisor laying down the facts!
Yes. Plain and simple.
I actually have this headcanon that the entire sequel was just a fever dream that Timmy had while fighting pneumonia in the first movie.
The Secret of Nimh (1982): *a very good animated movie With heartfelt moments, darker tones and great memorable characters*
The Secret of Nimh 2: *who asked for this sequel???*
More like if the original didn't do well in the box office, just home video did it justify a sequel nearly 20 years later? Or at all?
@@stephenholloway6893 and yet someone from mgm made a stupid idea to make a direct to video sequel to the first film
People foolish enough to ask MGM for a sequel and with the great sales of The first movie they made this crappy follow up.
The same I could say for All Dogs Go To Heaven 2.
@Isaac-gh5ku Yes but at least thst one A was released to theaters and B the sequel didn't take as long as this one to get released.
It's hard to believe one of the greatest animated movies of all time, and undoubtedly one of Don Bluth's best works, could have such a god awful, illogical, and disrespectful follow-up, especially when it never needed one. MGM were a lot like Disney is now in this respect. Eric Idle is it's only saving grace, and it's not nearly enough.
Eric Idle definitely is the only good thing about this movie.
@@huntercoleman460 At least he's trying.
So I guess the Film didn't get EVERYTHING wrong.
@@thefantasticretroreviewer3941 Eric Idle is one of those actors that gives 100% in everything he’s in. While he still doesn’t make the movie good, he’s at least entertaining as a mouse who got his brains fried.
@@huntercoleman460 True and its like I said.
Guess not EVERYTHING from the Film is bad.
@@thefantasticretroreviewer3941 A guy named Timey who likes this movie actually made a UA-cam video defending this movie.
Can’t you help but feel sorry for Don Bluth being screwed over by MGM? First, they released a presumably meant-to-be direct-to-home media sequel to “All Dogs Go to Heaven” in movie theaters at the last minute back in 1996. And, then, they tarnished his and Mrs. Brisby’s legacy with his young son’s own easily distracted adventure and treating the original as “FAMILY FUN” in 1998. Shame on you, MGM! For shame!
Originally, all dogs go to heaven 2 was originally going to be released in the holiday season of 1995, but due to competition, it was delayed to Easter 1996. It is the only theatrical movie from MGM family entertainment, which the studio mostly did tv shows, direct to video stuff, and video games.
@@Princess_-gp3epPossibly due to the disastrous performance of "Dogs 2", that was still a bizarre decision.
@@BigLightning4360 true. It’s also MGM animation’s only theatrical movie and it was MGM’s last animated theatrical movie until 2008’s Igor.
Tell me about it
Not to mention, also screwing Don over with those ridiculous demands on The Pebble and the Penguin
Honest to God *_AMAZED_* that a sequel like this got made. God bless Eric Idle for being its one saving grace!
Oh, and *_OMG YES, YOU'RE DOING DISNEY'S ROBIN HOOD NEXT!_* 😁👍
You know. This isn’t the only animated film from 1998 Eric Idle voiced in.
@@Starwarsfanboy0928The other being Warner Bros. Feature Animation's Quest for Camelot, in which he and Don Rickles voiced a two-headed dragon named Devon and Cornwall respectively.
Did this movie really did steal our hearts with it's charm?
Or does the movie make them suck their thumbs in shame?
16:22 GIF this!
Edit: Florida parents when a man wearing a rainbow shirt walks close by.
Im amazed you DIDN'T reference Pinky and the Brain
Yeah! This movie gets the slapping it deserves. Serves this direct to video sequel right!
Love how Jenny is x10 the hero Timmy is in the entire movie lol
She’d probably be a better main character than Timmy.
i loved her
Believe or not Hynden Walch was the voice of her (Yes even before Starfire from Teen Titans and Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time)
The way they animated Timmy hugging Mrs. Brisby is physically impossible. Either his arms would have to go through her or her upper body would have had to stretch to an impossible degree.
The first movie is one of my all time favorites… what even the fridge is this follow up?!
What a transition from Clone Wars the animated series to this XD
If you saw the first film, Nicodemus died in the attempt to move the brisby house, all to save Timmy. After the house was moved the rats had to clean out all their stuff. There, they could have found a written down prophecy. If Nicodemus had no prophecy about Timmy, he would have not helped some dumb widow save him
It wasn't any prophecy that made him agree to help Mrs. Brisby. It's the fact that she was the widow of his old friend. If it were some other random mouse, he'd dismiss her, but it was the fact that she was family to his old friend, which made him agree to help Mrs. Brisby. Not that bullshit prophecy.
I know he was friends with Johnathan Brisby, and Mrs Brisby was his wife, and he has prophetic visions, he probably didn't speak of his prophecy because it was like classified information that he wrote down, and it was found after the rats of NIMH cleaned out the rose bush and left for thorn valley. I believe the prophecy is as real as him having a friend named Johnathan, but I will agree that some of the songs in the sequel are bullshit. (Except for just say yes, that was gold)
I commend you for trying to defend a movie you like. Everyone is allowed a guilty pleasure, but this movie is a train wreck and nothing can save it.
I was just defending the prophecy. I admit, most of the songs, except for just say yes are stupid and are why this movie gets so much hate. I believe it would have been better if they kept the prophecy, but didn't have the annoying songs.
Robin Hood’s next! What perfect timing for the movie’s 50th anniversary this year.
On an added note, Martin is a pretty funny villain because he gives me that Yzma style energy but for the 90`s. And Just Say Yes with it`s Elfman-esque beat is quite a bop
15:13. ESPECIALLY since Justin, Mr. Ages, and the other rats COMPLETELY WENT AGAINST their very reason for moving to Thorn Valley in the first place, when they brought Timmy along to help them steal from the humans right before they got captured, as they were aiming to live a lifestyle free of thievery! …Yeah, that only makes it feel all the more like this movie was made by people who didn’t watch the first one!
And the extra sad thing is that a NIMH sequel is possible to make, as the book ‘Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH’ also had a sequel. But this movie went about making a sequel in ALL THE WRONG WAYS POSSIBLE!
At least this film isn't the Hunchback of Notre Dame II.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION, HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME 2 IS NOT BAD AT ALL, JUST BECAUSE THE 2ND HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME IS NOT AS DARK AS THE ORIGINAL DOES NOT MEAN IT IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL,AND THE ONLY THING THAT IS AS CREEPY AS HECK IN THE SECRET OF NIMH 2 IS MARTIN WHEN HE WAS THE VILLIAN,IF IT WASN'T FOR THAT IT WOULDN'T BE BAD AT ALL!PEOPLE THAT LIKE DARK MOVIES AND ALL THAT SHOULD HAVE THEIR HEADS EXAMINED
Almost 25 years later, It's a huge insult to Don Bluth's greatest masterpiece.
It really is!!!
Anyone else feel bad for Mrs Brisby on this sequel not only because she had only 2 minutes of screen time, but she also lost two of her sons? Like damn. :(
AND got no recognition as the hero of the first film. No statue for HER, but one for her husband and one for her son...how sad.
If anything she should an statue of her alone not her husband or son.
@@stephenholloway6893Well, to be fair, Jonathan Brisby did lead the surviving rats of NIMH out of the titular medical research building they take their name from. So I don’t think it’d be right to ignore Jonathan Brisby’s heroic deeds. So keep his statue and have his wife’s statue erected next to his as a way of HONORING both of them.
@hunterolaughlin Yeah in hindsight I do change my mind about Johnathan but still my problem is that the sequel made it that it was all about him and says nothing on his widow's contribution to also save the rats of Nimh and their family. More to the point if Timmy earned the statue then yes include him but he didn't earned it.
I think you're referring to her two *daughters,* and they *do* appear in an instant scene WITH their mother.
Oh god! This is why I am just sticking the original! Thank goodness, we are looking to Disney’s Robin Hood next.
This movie had potential to be honest. While it’s terrible, there’s a good story in it. If the people who made it put more effort into it and actually cared about the source material, we could’ve gotten something decent.
Agreed, I think the story is not bad if you leave it in the right hands. Timmy tries to prove himself a hero as great as his dad, while he and his friends are off to save the lost rats at NIMH. But boy, was it executed so poorly here!
It pisses me off that they build him up so much, then chastise him when he does something. Not to mention forcing him to carry on his father’s legacy. It’s all good and well to carry on someone’s legacy, but there’s a difference between carrying on someone else’s legacy and trying to be someone who you’re not. If anything, this movie should have been a “be yourself” story.
It's starting to remind me of my last year of High School where I was forced to be a "LeADEr" for my other classmates, but I never wanted to be one at all, nor did I know how to be one, but my teacher made me be one anyway, never caring about how it made me feel, which makes this movie even worse because of how Timmy is forced to be this all knowing savior without even knowing what to do or how to do it and that's a terrible thing to do to anyone that young by giving them straight up paranoid schizophrenia.
Screw this movie. Just screw it.
Honestly got super excited as I began to hear The Whistle Song while you began hinting at the next review. I can't stress enough just how much Disney's Robin Hood is an absolute favorite of mine (it's one my go-to comfort movies along with Aladdin, Mary Poppins, and the two Muppet movies based off of Treasure Island and Christmas Carol).
Personally, I like Just Say Yes and All I Had Is Gone. The rest of the music is pretty lame for me.
I was not expecting the calling the police bit
16:22 Very nice funny joke, AniMat!
His next review is going to be Robin Hood? Coincidentally, that's one that Don Bluth worked on!
I knew you would give it the seal of garbage
It was OBVIOUS. 🤷♂
@@hunterolaughlin yep

I feel like every Don Bluth Sequel is just Conservatively Bad (Except for Fievel Goes West)
Say what you will about Fievel goes west, there's some decent qualities to it. And it was released in theaters. Those are elements that the other direct-to-video sequels to Don Bluth's films don't have.
Land before time 3 was pretty good too, tbh. Addressing bullies, communities working together in time of need, and parental bigotry regarding abuse of power and a slight hint into Addressing aggressive parenting and racism.

I'll check it out.
MGM give one of my favorite Non-Disney animated film a "Disney direct to video sequel" treatment.
Yeah, MGM animation was really an after thought and sadly after their work on Tom Sawyer in 2000, the studio went out of business just like Fox animation studios and Hyperion studios 😔😔😔
At least the other Bluth sequels were done well, like Bartok the Magnificent and Fievel Goes West.
tbf it was that decade. Disney spearheaded the direct-to-video movement.

@@samfeldstein4498 yeah. This will be fun
I wonder if Animat has seen the Robin Hood YTP called “Friar’s Rubbing Wood: Fall of Nottingham”…
I’m just so happy that I never watched the sequel because I’m not in the mood to watch it, and I’m glad that I did so. The first Secret of NIMH is amazing but why make a sequel almost over a decade later? The first ended on a very high note and it should be stayed as its’ own film like what Balto did. I feel really bad for both of those movies getting the sequel treatment, and both Universal and MGM should learn from it like what Saberspark talked about in his Balto video.
To be fair, the original book The Secret of NIMH was based on "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" actually has a sequel "Rasco and the Rats of NIMH" and if they were to make a sequel, it would've been better to adapt the book's sequel than make up something that doesn't connect to the original and completely ignores it.
@@hunterolaughlin I never knew that the original book had a sequel until now. Now that I think about it, the sequel would’ve been much better if they adapted the sequel book.
@@Toontastic_Juju The problem is that would require a lot of work. Remember MGM isn't known for animation outside of Don's work.

How about a classic review of Mulan 2 where Mushu goes from comic relief that helped the main heroine to a manipulative douchebag who only cares about his job so much, that he tries to ruin Milan’s wedding because he got fired from his job as a result.
To add insult to injury, Mulan herself doomed all of China just because she was following her heart by letting three princesses marry whoever they want when their arranged marriage was more important as it was a way to prevent an incoming war.
@@brendis16851 Ok, to be fair, Mushu did end up convincing the nations to unite regardless of marriage, or at least, that's how I interpret that one part. But still, why didn't we get to see the war itself to confirm that?
oh god it's this sequel
This one is an absolute piece of garbage!
I watched this movie on repeat as a kid. It was 2006 I had a CRT TV with a built in VCR and my friends who were moving gave us a bunch of VCRs that they didn’t want (Gee I wonder why) and this was one of the 5 animated ones. We got Secret of Nimh 2, The Chipmunk Adventure, Kikis Delivery Service, Black Cauldron and The King and I animation. As you can imagine I completely forgot everything about the film, every time I tried to remember the film I’d think of The Rescuers and Ferngully.
All this to say a lighthearted f you for reminding me of this mess.
The Secret of NIMH need to return as a true sequel to bring Elizabeth Brisby to be a protagonist again. My story idea is Mrs. Brisby having a dream of her deceased husband who believe he still alive. A mysterious rat who enter her dream and telling her that Jonathan was alive and being capture by the organization rats called the Ratnest who lived in the White Rosebush castle. Mrs. Brisby must go to find her husband alone, but she is not alone, she have her two new friends who also are looking for there missing friend in the White Rosebush. But they must be careful cuz the Ratnest has sent there creature they create, called Dark Rodents to capture Mrs. Brisby and the amulet who believe that she is the key of all the amulet to conquer world of darkness. Many interesting characters, villains and bit creepy experience, having locked up in a Rosebush castle, that happens to be in middle of a forest that happens to be crawling with Dark Rodents and the Rosebush you're even isn't safe it's roaming with Dark Rodents.
4:29 idk why but the second movie’s style looks like deviant art in 2010
Except some deviants, even when lacking finesse, still look BETTER than this!
@@hunterolaughlin yeah lmao
So next time is Robin Hood 1973 sweet!
Honestly, this review is more entertaining than the movie itself.
I agree 100%.
What makes me so incredibly mad about this one is that there was an actual sequel book on the original source, MRS FRISBY AND THE RATS OF NIMH. It's called RASCO AND THE RATS OF NIMH, which starts off with Timmy traveling to Thorn Valley for school, and the plot slowly turns to the actual protagonist, Rasco (The Son of Jenner, who's only seen in flashbacks in the book and not really a "villain" as much as a "voter opponent" who secedes from the main rat colony.
It's as if the makers of this film sped-read the dust jacket of the sequel and made up something else based on what they could "remember" from that slimming.
This! Racso (it was Oscar spelled backwards, I believe) was a very interesting character - he felt he had to hide his identity because of what his father did. There was very effective tension built around the threat of NIMH tracking down the rats of Thorn Valley. Just a better film overall.
@@tabeechey no the threat was a construction company building a dam which would flood Thorn Valley. Of course the rats were worried NIMH might come looking for them again since one of the construction workers saw Racso write the word STOP on a piece of paper. Also one gripe with the book is about Racso hiding his identity of being Jenner’s son doesn’t make a whole lot of sense since Jenner wasn’t even a bad guy in the first book. If it were the movie Jenner, I can understand.

Next AniMat's Classic Reviews is: Robin Hood (1973)
I think the movie could still work with the main idea of the plot...if taken in in a different direction. The first movie was about the mother learning about her husband's role in the rats story. The sequel, hidden under the bore and childish blah, is about the son living up to his fathers heritage. If it was handled differently, the story could be more engaging and even thought provoking.
Id keep certain things the same: timmy is older,he wants to prove himself as Johnathan brisbys son, ans he has to go to Nihm...exept the story i would love to see is this:
Timmy spends more time with his mother and brother, with the brothers growing close(with martin keeping his rough edges), but he grows up hearing the stories of Johnathan Brisby and how he saved the rats. Timmy would feel inadiquite as hes the son of Johnathan and Mrs.Brisby, who saved the rats...and hes labled as the sonnwho is the crux of his moms mission. And with his mom forbidding him to go to the rats because she believes they deserve their peace. However with the help of Jeremy, Timmy runs away from home to go to thorn Valley to learn of his father's historty. All he has are his fathers stories and legends, but NEVER ACTUALLY KNEW THE REAL JOHNATHAN.
During this time, Martin finds out timmy runs away, he tried to travel on foot. Only to be captured in a live trap by Nihmz revieling its still around. Perhaps even background noise of how Nihm is upset about the rats escaping and not being found under the rodebush. Martin actually befriends the two stray cats during this clip after seeing them being hurt. Despite his rough edges, he is still a caring boy.
Timmy and the rats still discover the girl mouse and learn about the missing mice. It stays somewhat the same, with the concil admitting they wont help this time because its too dangerous. However when timmy asks about his father to her, she has no clue who hes talking about. Because she was too young to know about johnathan.
Timmy, the girl mouse, and Jeremy decide to find Nihm, but half way through their quest (which could involce the great owl) where Brisby had come to find timmy via the owl. This is when the mother tells timmy martin went missing after he ran away. Timmy asks the owl where Nihm is, which reviels The Owl was an experiment of Nihm as well. And he agrees to take timmy to Nihm if he promises to never speak the name around the woods ever again. So timmy gives a goodbye to his mom, mrs brisby tells hin he reninds her so mudh of johnathanz and they go.
During this time, Timmy rescues Martin, and finds the mising 6 mice and the strays. Timmy realizes Martin is insanely sick due to the testing, and he needs to take him to mr.ages for medicine. The mice ask Timmy who he is and how he knew where they where. Timmy says hes the sogn of Johnathan brisby, the hero of Thorn Valley. As the rescue goes on, timmy realizss through the mice...johnathan wasnt a macho mouse who knew everything and was incredibly brave. Instead it would cut to the full rescue. How johnathan was an every day mouse, he just had alot of care and love in his heart. He wasnt a legend,he was a good guy in the right place at the right time. Timmy realizes he didnt need to be burly or strong like his brother, or ninble and smart like his mother. Because its not stregnth or smarts that makes great heros, its how much they put on the line for those they love.
And with that, he frees the strays, who would of been abandoned by the mice otherwise, and the two help the mice to safety. A fire breaks out in Nihm thanks to Timmy. And they return to thorn valley
In thorn valley, another time skip. The mice and rats are reunited once more. Mrs.brisby has retired to thorn valley, helping her children raise their children. It could cut Timmy and his wife talking to his kids, as he writes in a large book. About the true life, death, and liniage of Johnathan Brisby, A mouse, and the rats of Nihm he aided. It would end the series write where it began.
It would be a story of Timmy finding his path in life, about what legacy means to someone, how heroes are not supernatural or especially heroic. Heros are those who do the right thing because or their heart. Nihm would be an advisary once again, but not evil.
I think THIS script has alot more potential

Only best part in the film, Eric Idle as Martin and the 'Just Say Yes' song but aside from that, It can burn in Hell for all I care.
16:02-16:25 That was the one moment in this review that made me laugh.
Why did the older mouse wink after that? Ew.
This movie made me laugh how bad it was. In fact I remember the studio, Wang productions was responsible for making The animation for the Secret of NIMH 2. In fact Wang productions is the same studio that made the animation for plenty of Animaniacs episodes as well providing animations for the Pinky and the Brain spin off, Taz mania and Looney Tune related media. However they eventually worked on several Direct to Home video features for Disney, Ferngully the magical rescue, All Dogs Go to Heaven a Christmas Carol and in the early 2000’s provided the animation for the Land Before Time sequels.
Edit: I should also mention because of how much cash these Direct to Home Video sequels churned out animation director Bunis Yang (Who was the animation director for the Secret of Nimh 2, Ferngully 2 the Magical Rescue and Land before Time sequels from the years 2000-2007) formed his own 2D animation studio called BV animation where he would produce Direct to Home Media animation's based on popular characters.
This lead to Wang Production's renaming their production company as Brilliant Animation Studio's.
Really sad a studio with great animators had their talents wasted in the sequels of Don Bluth and Ferngully.
The only thing I liked about this movie was Starfire's VA for the female and the god Eric Idle himself as the big bad. Eric is definitely this movie's saving grace.
Also, glad we're getting Disney's Robin Hood review soon. My favorite movie as a kid.
Damn. I honestly think this deserves a 2. Lol
To summarize my thoughts on this movie, allow me to quote Miracle Max:
"Thank you so much for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it?"
I always love "The Secret Of NIMH" and "Anastasia" as my favorite animated film done by Don Bluth, shame how he only made "Bartok The Magnificent" as his only sequel movie ever.
Now try to imagine you are born in the early 90s, and your first exposure to The Secret of NIMH is that direct-to-video sequel instead of the first film.
That is me.
I never found out about the first Secret of NIMH until it aired on TV back in 2008 or 2009. It was shockingly different to the Timmy To The Rescue.
I still have the copy of a VCD of the sequel but it was a very terrible transfer as the one I got had some incomplete animation, and unfinished stills and backgrounds.
A Troll in Central Park is more tolerable than this movie.
How about this for a sequel title to A Troll in Central Park: A Troll in Central Park II: Stanley’s Fantastical Weed Adventure
At least Bluth did Troll eventhough it's arguably his worst film.
@@stephenholloway6893 And as bad as it was for having little to no plot it was his most gorgeous animation.
@joyunicycle Yes, but that's Troll's only saving grace. Otherwise, without it, it probably would be on par with this one far as bad films goes.
On a side note, I think it’s only a matter of time before AniMat comes around to review “Charlotte’s Web 2: Wilbur’s Grand Adventure”, a similarly terrible sequel that suffers from just about all of the same problems as NIMH 2, but sadly doesn’t have Eric Idle to provide anything numerous or slightly entertaining in the midst of that crapfest!
I think you meant to spell "humorous". You wrote "numerous" instead.
@@hunterolaughlin Thanks for the correction.
Like Nostalgia Critic said too, the thing Timmy ended up saving the residents of Thorn Valley from wouldn't even be a threat if they didn't play favorites. It ended up being a self fulfilling prophecy. And come on, give Mrs. Brisby a statue too alongside her son!
For some reason I love that phone gag; it was perfect with the text, pose, timing and music, and it sure helps that outside the reaction footage and epilogue, it was the only time you appeared on screen for the review.
I remember seeing a copy of this movie on DVD at a local store over a decade ago, and I simply walked right past it.

I remember that I watched this movie when I was little without watching or knowing about The Secret of NIMH's existence, and even when I was little, I found the movie confusing to follow on its own and uninteresting and after seeing the Secret of NIMH, I was shocked by how different the two movies were and how the first movie was way better.
It's also crazy but sad that this was one of the first voice-acting roles of Hynden Walch and Ralph Macchio and I personally feel bad for Ralph as I can tell he tries to put his heart into it, even if means singing pretty badly, but it still ends up really bad.
Same for Hynden, as this was one of her first roles and I think it was stupid that one of her breakthrough roles was by having her angelic voice wasted with this unwatchable pile of goo. I'm so glad she's been getting better roles, such as Starfire from Teen Titans.
Don't forget Elsie from Stanley and Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time.
The backgrounds look way better then anything that moves in this movie
Don Bluth sequels not made by Bluth always have weird subtitles.
Timmy to the rescue, The wisdom of friends, any others I’m forgetting?
Well......there's The Treasure of Manhatten Island, Mystery of the Night Monster, Journey Through the Mists, Journey of the Brave. Yeah it gets weird with these
@@MrSammyD91The mysterious island… the stone of cold fire… The big freeze… the mystery of journey mountain… 13 wishes… the enchanted Christmas…
I forgot which one I made up.
Except All Dogs Go to Heaven II.
@KTKomedy2813 Yeah, that was the only one not to have a sequel name attached to it.........or at least the only Don Bluth sequel I know of
A Troll in Central Park II: Stanley Discovers the Fantastical Power of Weeds.
I read the original novel In 4th grade and thought it was really good. I haven't seen the movie but I'll give it a shot one day. I'll choose to watch that over the sequel
next review is Robin Hood, YES!! one of my all-time favourite WDAS films!!
Yay!
This definitely comes across more as hilariously bad as an adult than it did as a kid. Ralph Macchio (yes, Daniel LaRusso himself) has unquestionably bad line deliveries, but they're all so unintentionally funny because he sounds so unsure about what the director's want but he has to do this job for his kids. This was a really good review, Mat. I'm definitely gonna rewatch it with friends or family XD
It's mind blowing how young Martin and adult Martin sound NOTHING alike.
@@antoniosalieri1048 That's what makes it funny, imo XD
The film that drove Animat insane XD
Not as insane as his Classic Review of Tentacolino (In Search of the Titanic). Seriously, watch him at the end of his Classic Review and you could tell he's CLOSE to his sanity slipping. His AniMat Watches of The Treasure Planet (1982) also is another film that drove him insane that he ended up making a Top 5 list of the film's craziest moments that affected him.
You're thinking of Bratz.
Because he's only a neurotypical adult. And it's for kids and autistic adults (like me), intellectual disabled adults (like me), and anxiety disabled adults (like me) only.
Gee Martin, what are we gonna do tonight?
I heard Ralph Macchio in an interview say he's never done a bad movie..... Okay, I guess he blocked this one from his memory then 😂😂
You know, if I was in the time of this film's release, when given the choice between purchasing this film of VHS, and taking my family to see "The Prince of Egypt", I would, no contest, pick the latter. Sure it would be more costly, but WORTH IT!
The next Animat's Classic Review is possibly gonna be Disney's Robin Hood. 🦊🏹
There was a sequel book too. I think it would have been better if this movie had followed that.
It was said in the sequel that the great owl left because he's moulting.
This describes Missing Halloween 2 Teaser Trailer to a tee
Miss Brisby is barely even in this one! She definitely deserves more credit in universe!
Feels like Land Before Time had the only "okay" sequels out of all of the legendary animated films... xD
The next review is Robin Hood (the furry version from Disney)
😂😂😂😂
Ahhh, the glorious nature of Eric Idle rat lives on!
There is an Australian UA-camr who really loves this movie. He is obsessed with Timmys older sister Teresa Brisby and has multiple channels about Teresa Brisby from NIMH 2
Next Time on Animat’s Classic Reviews Animat is taking a trip to Nottingham to talk about Their Most Famous Hero’s Animated Film Just in Time for it’s 50th Anniversary and I can’t wait
5:24 okay, I don’t watch that OTHER particular UA-camr anymore but I’ll parody that joke…
“They gave him a rat credit card?”
Oo-De-Lally Robin Hood is next. 😊
I know.
If I may point out something, there are parts in the animation that look unfinished.

This Thing looks like an educational PC Game
Even educational PC Games are more entertaining than Timmy to the Rescue.
Just rediscovered Electric Dragon. Great stuff.
Yay Robin Hood is next.
Disney's Robin Hood is the next classic review!
16:22 - Yup, we went there!!! What were the film makers thinking? 😱😱😱
❤️💖 If I can honest, I loved the original animated film directed by Don Bluth and I hated the sequel and I regretted watching this movie 🎬 part of my childhood.
I despises the story, the animation, the characters and the juvenile childish tone. I will never considered this sequel as canon. I would rather watched the Land Before Time sequels over the Secret of Nimh 2 any day!
If Don Bluth directed the sequel, he stated he would've stated that he would've made Martin the hero but make Timmy the villain. That would've been interesting twist and future idea that would've make one of the protagonists kids a villain. 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤️
I may not have seen the sequel, but what little I have seen and heard, I already hate it to death! 😡
Well, well, well... In animation, it's great to understand talent, experience and determination... instead of just understanding money. The financial folks at the top often don't or can't understand what a huge gift, like Don Bluth and his crew, can be. ....On "The Secret Of NIMH", Don and his leading artists and technicians founded a brand-new studio with lots of stellar experience... which was honed years earlier at Disney.... Then, Don hired new, fresh faces who were TALENTED... BUT NOT TRAINED at other studios that were not Disney. Why?. He didn't want to untrain... then train again. In the early '80's.., Don and his gang were on a mission to recapture the hand-drawn magic of Disney, which even Disney had somehow lost to a noticeable degree. Bluth's resulting films impacted not only Disney, but the whole animation industry.
Next review: Disney's Robin Hood. I'm so excited
Me too.
There is one major plot-hole that I often keep thinking of when watching this movie: How come Timmy was foretold (or shall we say, gas-lit) to be the heir of Thorn Valley's protector rather than his older brother Martin? Like, if Martin had've been chosen by Thorn Valley via this out-of-nowhere made-up prophecy they claim Nicodemus foretold instead, he wouldn't gotten jealous, gotten himself captured and ironically became the embodiment of Thorn Valley's biggest threat, and the said prophecy would have been invalidated.
