Great video! I did this conversion in one of my Gen1’s a while back and paired it with the Sync2-Sync3 upgrade, which is much faster and gives you Apple CarPlay. Once you do both it really updates the truck and gives it a much better overall driving experience!
I almost did the sync 3 upgrade. However I was turned off by it cause I read that the front camera doesn’t always work the greatest after the swap. And I rarely use CarPlay in my other vehicles since I hate cords (all my charging is wireless). Therefore I couldn’t really justify it
@@jurassic_overland I installed it on two different Gen1’s I had and didn’t have a problem with the front camera on either. Make sure if you do decide to upgrade that you get on preprogrammed to your VIN.
A good habit would to be to turn the key from the passenger side if you ever remove and install a new airbag. I saw your face there when you were returning the key and it made me cringe. I’ve seen some bad things happen so I always turn the key on the passenger side with my face out-of-the-way lol! Great, definitely going to do this
This was a great how to video!! I have a gen1 that I'm going to start building for overlanding myself. And this is one mod for the interior I plan on doing in the future, along with the tesla dash upgrade. Watching your other video right now and looking for to future ones.
This is by far one of my favorite mods that I've done so far! Im personally not a huge fan of the Tesla screens because im old school and like physical buttons instead of touch screens for the most part, as I've heard those Tesla screens can be glitchy. But thanks man! Good Luck with your build!
That’s a good idea, I should be getting mine this weekend. Im gonna try to rig a micro switch behind the actual steering wheel heating button, connect it to a 12v source. I’m not sure I’ll have enough space. If that doesn’t work then I’ll just do the same but rig a button on the side of the column.
@@IndiMan2233 yea, I’m going to have to do a bit of testing. Maybe tap onto the 12v wire going to the aux switches. Those only get power when the truck is on.
So the problem I ran into wasn’t necessarily where to get the power from. You can just get power from an accessory add a fuse so that it turns on when remote start is activated. It’s more so how do you plug it into the wheel that has to spin. Without wires dangling or getting caught up in stuff
@@jurassic_overland Couldn't you theoretically use the lane assist button in the new wheel for the heated wheel? Any updates on this? Great video, thank you.
I would sacrifice the paddle for the heated wheel, so those pins in the plug that are for shifting gears could've been used for heated wheel. Anyway, wonderful work. Thank you for the video.
@@jurassic_overland hopefully you didn’t turn the clock spring. If you did it’s probably broke inside. They are very finicky & are made to turn so many turns right & left.
Hahaha yeah I was going to say. 90% of the buttons work and you don’t lose any functionality. Glad I could help you decide on it. I know it sounds small. But the steering wheel is 180 times more comfortable.

@TrevorFosterConstruction where did you buy your Sync 3 upgrade from? It’s something I’m looking into with my new to me 2014 raptor.

Awesome video! Also curious to know if you ever got the heated wheel going. The only reason i want to upgrade trucks is for a heated wheel 😅
Maybe run it to an outfitter switch
Really want this for my truck. Love the paddle shifters
I definitely don’t regret it. It’s so much nicer to drive with it as well!
What was the overall cost of the conversion?
Right around $1300-$1400 including all parts and the harness/circuit boards
Great video! Will be trying this!
what's up bro! so how did you end up heating up the steering wheel? or are you still trouble shooting?
Thumbs up . . . mainly for the two finger "that's what she said" comment . . .

I really appreciate the diy these are great instructions. What pid lights are you using on the hood?
This is a cool mods to do bro, can u list where we can get the harness kit and the bottom from?
I have the circuit boards, but they did not come with the wiring harness? Any idea where you found the wiring harness?? Thank you in advance
Great video. Very helpful!
Thank you for doing this...😎
This is something i didnt know i needed. Do you by chance have an extra one laying around pre assembled for sale lol.
I'm wondering if you can tap into the heated seats for the power for the wheel? The second you turn on heated seats, it'll turn on the wheel heater

@jurassic_overland that is indeed true, there has to be a way to avoid that turning problem
Question, so you couldn't reuse the steering wheel bolt for the Gen1 wheel? The T50 torx?
This is awesome as I am now looking into upgrades for mine! What is the status of the heated steering??
Working on it, just waiting on some connectors
@@jurassic_overland Couldn't you theoretically use the lane assist button in the new wheel for the heated wheel? Any updates on this? Great video, thank you.
isnt the bolt pattern on the 2011 to 2016 superduty steering wheel the same as todays f250 steering wheels
That’s not a heated steering wheel button. It’s the button to adjust the steering modes on a Gen 2…normal, sport and comfort.
You are correct. I forgot the heated steering wheel function is in the infotainment screen.
Does this work on the 2010 which doesn’t have the manual shift button on the shifter?
Could you please link us to the wiring harness?
This is awesome

I'm curious about the cost
Hello , would you be able to make one and sell?
Yeah but what about the airbag can you get an airbag that goes with the new steering wheel
Part number is in the description with all the other part numbers
@@jurassic_overland yeah I asked that question before I went to your hyperlink
I did the steering wheel swap , my airbag light is on . Anyone have any info on why ?
Wish I could help more. I would double check the two connectors for the airbag. Otherwise double check part numbers to make sure they match up
@@jurassic_overland hopefully you didn’t turn the clock spring. If you did it’s probably broke inside.

You should put a lowrider steering wheel like a chrome chain one
方向盘的真皮破旧啦!怎么办?
Can you go back without issue?
What do you mean go back?
@Jurassic Overland go back to stock wheel.
would you consider making one and selling it?
Yes I would. I would require payment up front before purchasing anything. But yeah I would do that.
If you are able to do this, how much would you sell for ?
Any idea on pricing and when you would be able to do it?
Any idea on pricing and availability? Haven’t received a response . Thanks
Any pricing ?
39:10 do you have push button start??
Did you get the heated steering wheel working?
Just about. Just waiting on some different connectors
@@jurassic_overland awesome man! I cant wait to see how its done and get one wired up in my truck
@@jurassic_overlandany update?
Pov you ran 12v to the airbag instead of of heated steering...
Damn I wanted to do this so bad but like half the buttons don’t work💀
