Tom dowd who worked on Disraeli gears said the rhythm was based on native American (Indian)drums you hear on old western movies from the 40s and 50s and if you watch an old John Wayne movie you will hear that rhythm during the movie when there is building tension between the cowboys and Indians
Glad you like it Jeremiah. There's more coming to YT soon. We also do lots more inside the Total Drummer Academy every month. www.courses.totaldrummer.com/bundles/total-drummer-academy
Ginger was much more than the Cream drummer. He did a brillant work with Masters of Reality, Fela Kuti and Baker Gurvitz Army. His career has a lot of interesting stuff, not just Cream.
Do you want to remark on Ginger’s use of flams please? I’m referring to White Room but doubtless there are others. I saw him say that he liked flam triplets , for example. If Sting had been leader it would have been “fewer flams please “ and then a massive punch up. Or a knife fight as one occasion when he had a disagreement in the Graham Bond band!
No sheet music available using your link! Maybe you should mention in the beginning that's NOT A FREE TUTORIAL! Nevertheless thank you for that tutorial - nice introduction to Ginger's drumming!
Thanks for watching. Sorry you couldn't get the notation but I don't understand. It is a free tutorial. It's right above you housed on UA-cam for free. And the sheet music is 100% available for free download via the link. I'm wondering if you clicked one of the other links in the description. The one you need is labelled as a link to the sheet music. If you get stuck just email info@totaldrummer.com and it can be sent to you.
Buddy I really don’t understand what’s happening here but it’s not clickbait, it is definitely available free of charge (I just checked the link to be 100% sure it’s working), and, as mentioned, I would be very happy to email the notation to you if you can’t access it through the link.
Studying drummers that inspire you is a great part of a musician's development. You will always be unique so you never need to worry about sounding like a copy. Study lots of drummers from varied genres, play in lots of bands, create lots of your own grooves/fills, immersive yourself in music, and the end result will be uniquely you.
Amazing lesson Ginger Baker is the reason I’m learning drums at music school
Awesome, thanks Akouri. Glad you enjoyed it. I love Ginger's style too.
Thanks mate. 🔥🔥🔥

Another wonderful lesson. I really like these breakdowns of great players’ styles of playing. Exactly what I was looking for!

Ginger had remarkable breaks (rolls) in WR, Those where the days, and Deserted Cities.
Can be emulated, but never matched.
Could you make a breakdown of Toad? Just a few ideas... Would be great too. Love your work
Great shout Marc. I love Toad. I can't promise a full solo breakdown but maybe just a few themes from it could be done.
This is great. Thank you :)
Thanks Ivan. Glad you enjoyed it.
@@TotalDrummer 4 Sure I did ;) :)
That was really interesting :-)
"Try to get inside their head"

@@TotalDrummer Thanks to the gods of music I am blessed with a functioning pair of ears! I also learned about "clickbaits"

Can you demonstrate, and explain that certain sound he achieved in the drum roll (breaks) in White Room ?
Hey Max, this might help. It's a free course and does look at White Room www.courses.totaldrummer.com/courses/how-to-drum-like-ginger-baker
What brand and size of drums are you using here??
These are Pearl Masters custom drums Evan. It's my old baby called Beth but don't tell anyone I'm sad enough to name my drums! ;-)
Please explain what he does on crossroads during the guitar solos. It sounds crazy. cant get it.
Sinple answer. Dont. Develop your own style of drumming.
