Thanks, great video. A no-nonsense approach brilliantly executed without spending a fortune on specialised materials! Keep up the good work. Thanks again.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is perfect video & love knowing how to save $$ for long needle; great idea!! Will be following; now on to fix a (by the road) blue leather tufted chair (just like yours)!!
Very nice video. Thank you so much. I have a chair that I bought from a woman on Craigslist for similar money with similar issues. My chair is a high quality vinyl but also has the creases and one major tear similar to yours. My tufted buttons are all still intact so I am going to try to do the same repair on mine as you did on yours. A local shop quoted me almost $3k to restore my chair and it didn't include the leather! Ludicrous!
Thanks for this video. I just acquired 2 tufted club chairs. I was worried I was going to need to reupholster the whole chair which could get expensive. I'm going to follow your method.
Thank you for your quick reaction, but I think I know what the problem is. I used saddle grease instead of saddle soap, so I clean it again with saddle soap and then use the leather conditioner. I used Saphir shoe polish it's the same colour as my old Chesterfield and but even so my Chesterfield looks wonderfull. So thank you so much for this video
NOTHING sits like Chesterfield couches. BUT... be sure the SEAT is tufted, also. Not square, flat, 'pillows'. Otherwise, it's lost it's very most important aspect. Comfort and class! I vacuum out tufts, use cocoa butter hand cream (Palmers) to rub in to condition. Mine's listed in my will 😄
Great video!! Thank you so much. My leather arm rest is very worn and the leather is crumbling in a spot, not just a tear, so I can't stretch it all the way to close the gap. Besides sliding a scrap piece of leather under it and gluing, some fresh leather will show through. Is that the best I can hope for?
Hi sorry didn't see your comment. Is the excess material under the chair like in my video? Enough to cover the entire damaged area? If so as long as you cut the damaged area cleanly and have enough of the new material under to be glued it should work and not be that noticeable. Especially after you apply the brown polish! Good luck!
Thank you for this video. I restored my couche the way I learned from this video, but I used green shoepolish and it looks great but I have a problem with the shoepolish because it stains on my clothes what can I do about that? What did I do wrong
Oh wow. Has it had enough time to dry? Did you use saddle soap over top of it? Maybe it's the type of shoe polish? I've only used kiwi brown and used the two conditioners over top of it and I've never had the staining issue. Maybe try buffing as much as you can off and seal with saddle soap. Good luck!
+Our Old Farm House Follow the method. If it is staining, it's because you did not follow through with the rest of the procedure. You MUST wipe off thoroughly and clean, before the final finish, and then buff until your buff cloth is clean and dry . That is true for each step.
What. Was adhesive, and does it strengthen and dry clear? What, if anything, would strengthen the almost splits? If that was thread used with buttons, I'd recommended piano type wire twisted around peg or stick underneath to adjust and hold with much more leverage.
I'm curious about the various shoe treatments - conditioner, polish, and the third product - coming off on your clothes. When I shine my shoes sometimes polish will transfer onto the bottom of my pant leg.
Never came off on any of my clothes. I think by the time you are done applying the conditioner all of the colored polished has been absorbed or removed. Over three years since this video and I have'nt reapplied the colored polish only conditioner yearly and the chair still looks great!
Thanks, great video.

What color was that chair?
The shoe polish doesn't come off on clothing?
👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
Muito bom ,mas não sei que produto é esse
Try sitting down on shoe polish. :D Not only do you make your jeans dirty, the chair will be worn out very soon again.
It's better to use wooden door brown polish instead of shoes polish
basically massage the f*ck out of your chair until it is good as new.
