Seems prices are quite high in Canada. 12yo Glenfiddich is 38euro here (in EU), and 18yo is 88e.
You should get some Commonwealth discount :)
Maybe there are high alcohol taxes in Canada?

Yes. Sadly alcohol in Canada, and particularly in Ontario, is taxed pretty high
