Mike and Annie Booze It Up
Приєднався 12 тра 2020
Canadian couple Mike and Annie do stuff. From tasting whiskey to eating tacos, we love doing things together.
We give our honest opinions on everything we get up to. We try new restaurants, we critique movies and we travel to weird places. We are also big time couch potatoes and don't mind commenting on the latest things we see on Netflix and youtube.
We welcome everyone to enjoy our channel. We don't care about your politics, your views, your orientation or whatever else. We want everyone to enjoy our videos and maybe escape from the serious issues of the world, if only for a few minutes.
Please enjoy our channel. We certainly enjoy making these goofy, light hearted videos.

Forty Creek Double Barrel Review

Our latest Canadian Whiskey review comes from the Niagara Peninsula of southern Ontario. We tried the Copper Pot, now its time to try the Double Barrel. It’s 80 Proof and ready for us to drink it. Also, a correction needs to be made. It was founded in 1972… not 1792 as said in the video. Silly Mike!

New format and camera angle for the channel. And yes, Mike is well aware that he messed up the name and called it “McLennans” instead of “McCellands”. Bonehead move on his part. Please let us know if you like the camera angle and if we should do all of our videos this way from now on. Please enjoy!!
I enjoyed my 750ml bottle, but it's gone, now.
It’s a good bourbon and it can go down pretty fast!!
At Mumbai Duty free I got 2 bottles at $165 non chill filtered at 47.5% abv solera vat 04 perpetual collection
210 usd? 😮
$210 Canadian dollars
Agree with Kettle 1 being better than Grey Goose.. . My Ranking: Belvedere, Kettle 1 ,Stoli,Grey Gooose ... I.M.O All Very Good 👍
Forty Creek Barrel Select was my go-to budget option for whiskey and I kinda liked it, until I drank a bit too much of it and it made me extremely sick. Yes, I drank too much, but it shouldn't make you that sick. I have drank the same amount of more expensive whiskeys and not gotten sick at all. I will say, I liked it more in the dark brown bottles. When they changed the bottles, the whiskey changed too.
Having the camera on a tripod definitely makes more sense than holding it in your hand when doing a review video. A stable surface is always the right choice if at all possible.
I agree. It took a while, but Annie finally convinced me
Annie needs to make her own videos 😘
She is a star, isn’t she?
Seems prices are quite high in Canada. 12yo Glenfiddich is 38euro here (in EU), and 18yo is 88e. You should get some Commonwealth discount :) Maybe there are high alcohol taxes in Canada?
Yes. Sadly alcohol in Canada, and particularly in Ontario, is taxed pretty high
Great video! LOL at Annie's hiccups
Love the video im getting a bottle of that stuff today
There are lots of good Canadian whiskey but not a lot of fantastic whiskey. Forty Creek is like the Makers Mark of Canada, one note wonders until you hit the special releases.
I tried this, last month, and I loved it.
I am glad you recognized that bourbon tasting is 100% subjective. And you're also right that 80 proof McKenna IS a great mixer.
Love your content Mike and Annie! I agree switching things up and creating some cocktails is a great idea 😍 Can't wait to see more!!!
Thank you. We enjoy making em!!
So tastes like a dessert, just like Annie said.
I'm drinking the Auchentoshan 12 years old right now and I'm liking it. My first single malt Scotch whisky was glenfiddich 12 yo and I have came so far right now that my two favorite bottles are glenfiddich 18 yo as a speyside and Laphroaig 10 yo 43% abv as an affordable and delicious Islay peated smokey single malt. Now I gotta admit, I am finding this one 12 yo auchentoshan a pleasant and unique flavor single malt and I'm enjoying it. Makes me want to buy other expressions of auchentoshan perhaps a 15 yo or 18. I don't understand why some "whisky connaisseurs" dont rate this one, yes it is not a 46%abv unfiltered and unchilled malt but it does compensate for that by giving us a unique tripled distilled flavor and it is a lowland malt which are rare , so why hating it?
Most people say it's a more advanced scotch but what's funny is I wasn't much into the taste of whiskey in general until I had an Islay and that helped me enjoy the taste of other whiskeys.
We have a president. I think I'd prefer a king. Anyway, I have been enjoying my 750ml bottle.
There’s a great distillery local to Ontario called Forty Creek. They make an excellent Rye if you’re into Canadian whisky.
@@mikeandannieboozeitup2951 Ah, I have a bottle of Forty Creek in my cabinet!
Some rum
Nice review
Thank you. We try 😁
I like Evan Williams, although I prefer their "green label" 80 proof, charcoal filtered version, which isn't even listed on their website.
Ya I’ve never seen the green label. I do like the idea of the charcoal filter. I think it adds a nice taste to the budget bourbons
Splurge a little. Buy a second glass.
🤗🎄🧑🎄😇
To me, Teeling is really nice.
Cheers
80-90 is cheap compared to Ireland, it's about €100 here... Definitely something I'd feel guilty mixing with coke!
I think booze world wide is too expensive. But I certainly don’t mind paying a premium for good whisky!!
For a whiskey called "Writer's Tears", I always expect it to have a heavier profile, but you're right, it's a great introductory whiskey. The Cask Strength release, as well as some of the higher proof versions have more... 'oomph' behind them.
Just subscribed. Hello from a fellow Hoser! Suggestion/request : Please shoot your videos with the phone SIDEWAYS so it does cut out the picture when playing back! :)
Cool :) Always nice to find fellow Whisky Tubers out there to support! Subscribed! :)

One of our favourites!!! Love the Black Bush
also, thank you for subscribing to us Ronald. Glad to have you on board!!
I like this milder Wild Turkey. 40.5% alcohol.
We like the 101
It's in fact a no age statement whisky. I tried it, yesterday, and I liked it.
Ooh I’ll look for that Vodka here!!
Honeysuckle is a plant , kinda like jasmine/vanilla. Lots of floral/nectar smells Nice vid and range of tasting there. Great you are testing the, I assume, uninitiated with Whiskey knowledge. Right now in the UK, its 20 GBP on sale!
Well thank you. Glad you're enjoying the videos. and we are definitely doing these tastings as novices. We're learning as as we go along with the audience. We actually had to look up what a Honeysuckle was once we did the review. haha. Glad to have you as a subscriber MickFist. We appreciate it
Assholes and elbows lol. Nothing wrong with Bulliet just simple.
You uploaded this as I was searching for reviews... so perfect timing.
Couldnt agree more with the word "underwhelming" EC is outpriced for sure. I agree 100% with your review. Cheers.

What is the price??
Its $80 at the LCBO
@@mikeandannieboozeitup2951 should I buy as a gift or for myself as a casual drink?
@@profcreamsicle buy it for yourself. It does make a great gift but I'd say definitely have one at home for your bar
Yes Red Breast! Great bang on review! My personal favourite as well! Agreed on the mixing with coke, Redbreast is the Irish equivalent to Scotch, one would be slapped for asking for a scotch and cola! Haha
It does taste good with Coke but you lose too many of the subtle flavours. It's a sipping whisky for me.
