I literally said “nooooo!!” When I heard you say “well, that then is about it for this video.” I was enjoying it so much that I wished the video was an hour long. Good luck Andrew, wishing you a year of great expeditions & great new content.
looks wonderful, I love hearing the "why" behind our decisions. Thanks!
Andrew, I Just found this after watching many of your other videos.
I'm currently in the planning stage of fitting out my 2020 gxl dual cab, and this has answered so many questions I had about items such as roof console, centre console, and general layout for accessibility.
Than you for your wealth of information and experience!
I hope to meet you one day when all this stuff has calmed down somewhat !
"Infotainment System" is the word you are looking for 😉. It does appear to be a very nice unit though, I might do some research into whether I can get it to work with my MX5!
Thanks for sharing your design rationale. It’s fun to watch! Lifestyle Overland did a great review of the Garmin Overlander. Worth watching for anyone considering that device.
Fantastic console, you let my imagination run wild as this look so fitting. Thanks for the detail!
Probably the best cab set up for any tourer I've seen. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Troopy.
Your truck has turned out fantastic !! I am waiting for your next trip to see how everything worked out.
Looking forward to your next video !
Nice build. I've been following your videos for a while now. I'm trying to build my 460 G wagen into an overland vehicle. Thanks for the inspiring videos and looking forward to the new ones
agree about a single switch for CB but I have recently coverted to having a 3 way switch. Power direct from main battery so its always on AND power via relay eactivated by the key switch. This way I can leave it on when engine is off ONLY when I want to.
This is a great video on a very thought out interior for over landing. 👌🏽👍🏽
Great idea putting three way switches on equipment in the trailer! Yu do so much that matches my prefferences, it is surprising. Switch all you USB connectors to USB-c and which way is not an issue.
Some very good ideas & interesting & enticing products here. Thank you Andrew.
Love the interior. Add the Volume button for your Android Radio you will not regret it. Make sure to enable visible keyboard in the android settings. Since it will think android button is a keyboard. But is easy to always have on screen keyboard come up in settings.
Love the look of this amazing rig. Great interior.
Let's see how long it takes you to realise that you need a physical volume knob for your sound system. Touch screens in vehicles are such a stupid idea, especially for things you would use while driving.
ilianGT There isn’t one on the steering wheel?
It connects to steering wheel control
Yes, they connect to the steering wheel, but that is still somewhat irritating. I miss my volume knob.
I like the volume controller on the floor.
@@NS0O-EN33ec There are no buttons on the steering wheel, unless Andrew fits some or replaces the whole steering wheel.
Exceptional description as always! More items for my build list. The EC Offroad tablet unit is something I must review. Thanks
Kelly Drolet it looks like joying unit, plenty on eBay
Hey Andrew. With the Alpine halo 9, you can actually get an ad on module that adds all sorts 0f functions. Like activating lockers, light Bars ect on the screen. And also, the alpine does do vehicle engine data. It's called idatalink meistro
Always great watching you and your passion for what you do!
I look forward to seeing this project unfold.
Really hope you go into detail about setting of the hot water system with tempering valve this time around
A good TPMS lets you set the alarms, We only use one product for this reason, set the low at 7PSI when running 14 etc. Also set temperature alarms.
Such awesome videos as ever, currently building mine and loving the reviews
Amazing inside but really don’t see the purpose of having 3 mapping system. Ones good, I get the second as a back up but having that extra I pad just seems like too many screens to me.
Military Spec
in a previous life Andrew owned a mapping company .. i guess old habits die hard
One is none, two is one, three will get you home.
Some good ideas there. I know sometimes it is just hard to find a spot for something. I have been modifying as I go. Had to build all my components by hand since no one makes prefabed components for a '77 Jeep Cherokee. That is part of the fun though as you know. See you on the trails, George.
follow up video coming.
Dubai-Oman Part 3 12:22 “ I needed him to explain to me his insatiable need for gadgets...”. Guess he did alright then..😆
i have to give you credit. job well done. love the interior set up.
Great job Andrew.....but my OCD would drive me crazy with that skew-wif label on the boiler switch!!! hahaha ;-)
Great set up Andrew, love the seats $$$$$ , can't what to see you put on the back 👍
Thanks for the video, Andrew. I enjoy seeing all the details of your builds and hearing your thoughts on the various bits of kit. And yes, I completely agree with what you said before the intro. 😁
I put a white tipex dot on the front surface of the USB plugs. That way I know which way they are inserted. Great videos. Well done. RSA.
Thanks for sharing Andrew, great honest and informative narrative as always. I like everything but I do think 3 x nav screens is overkill (and Im a self confessed gadget-atic), but lets see how it goes, maybe it'll be very usefull. I really do not like the look of those Hella spotties but sounds like they do an awesome job and thats what counts.
👍👍👍👍👍 was thinking about getting the Garmin overlander but still in the thinking stage can’t wait to see what you think about after you put it through the Andrew test 👍👍👍
Hi Andrew, Just like to say you are on a great project and I am really impressed. Anyway if and whenever this project goes up for sale please let me know in case I miss it...
I hope that is a strong magnet for the two-way radio. One doesn't want that to keep on popping off on rough terrain,
I love suv interior videos. I have a humble 05 Ford Escape Hybrid.
Love your work❤️❤️❤️❤️ wish I could do a 79 by you!!!!!!
Man you literally don’t know how lucky you are to have a 79 like that I think about owning one every day of my life
Fantastic show, what feelings are you getting from the Falken Tyres? I'll be fitting new tyres soon, maybe that's an option.
I love hella, I use their headlight housings and bulbs
great detail Andrew love your builds
the interior looks great!
Excellent work Andrew. OEM quality.
I will eagerly wait to see the electrical installation.
Andrew, not sure if you have addressed a rear camera yet for your tray or camper, but I believe garmin sells a bluetooth rear camera that can connect to your Overlander. May be a great solution for you!
Dont like those switches in the centre console near the gear stick. Each to their own tho. Really interesting videos, as someone who has a new 4wd thats stock, its interesting viewing to see what is done and can be done and to gather information and ideas for myself.
With the TPMS, if one was to debead a tyre, and being its an internal unit in the tyre rim area, would the resulting debeading occurence smash the sensor to bits when to tyre rolls from the rim?
Woot . Midnight release
Muh favorite
Man that's a luxurious land cruiser. I'm used to the dirty, uncomfortable mine spec ones.
G'day Andrew, could you please do a video on why you have 3 navigation units. Thank you 🤔
you are wise you fit accessories with a good reason
You've made a kingdom within the cab...it looks very user friendly and comfortable.
Really enjoy your vids Andrew.
Steve🇦🇺
Andrew, you work hard, where do you get the energy? I'm still sceptical about the weight of a camper on the back. Can't wait for that one.
Truck’s awesome 👍🏻👍🏻
Another great video Andrew. In the last few minutes you have your camera on a tripod. Can you let me know the brand and model. Thanks.
I love your channel and I have no worries with your saffa accent all good. HA Was wondering who can do the 300mm extension in Sydney??
Hi Andrew
What is the reason for plug in the Overlander by its usb-port instead of using the usb-port on the magnetic-mount?
Regards
Jonas
This looks like and upgraded aircraft cockpit!
Cant wait to see the end result!!!come on andrewwww
Very nice kit
Hi , Andrew, is there a solution for the improving the turning circle and the A-pillar wind noise?? I just hate both of these things about my new D-cab LC...
Hi Andrew would you mind testing the garmin outlander when out bush for how accurate it is when doing under 8 km/h. I returned my hema hx1 couple of years ago and went back to my hn6 after getting over not having accurate directions when I was in thick remote bush in WA. It wouldnt show correct- I would be heading south after doing a 180 deg turn and hx1 would show me still going north until I reached over 8km/h. When you have bush and tree stumps and big rocks around you can't do more than 3k to 5km/h. Hn6 works fine, but I would like another unit to run with it. Cheers.
Andrew, can your overhead console be easily accessed if you want to fit/adapt extra wiring, or does it need to come out ?
Awesome work oom Andrew
Lets hope the wiring on this one is better than my Troopy, EGT gauge scotch blocked to the difflock switch WTF
Question. The storage mods on the dashboard, do they not affect the visibility of the road?
Will you get an arm rest for your right arm? Like the one in the troopy?
What is the reasoning behind the three map systems? Redundancy? Excellent video by the way.
Does the screen on the MFD auto dim/brighten and does it fold away?
Another great video Sir
Andrew what do you think about the new accesory mounting bar with dash usb for the dash on the new bronco? Myself I'm kinda jealous cause it makes mounting a gps, phone and other usb devices so much cleaner. Personally I'm really tired of the spagettis nest I get in my truck after a while.
Wonderful video.
That screen looks great Andrew, is there an app available for the TPMS ?
Complimenti per la recensione
I may have missed it in the video but who makes the overhead console?
Thanks
Nice, but how's the day time use or day light affecting the screen?
Make sure you face the bonnet scoop the other way.
Hey Andrew, are you going to fit an exhaust like all 79 series owners?
Very nice
Good work Andrew. I think 3 mapping systems is overkill personally but it is personal preference. My preference would be for whichever one I like best & paper maps so I didn't have all the clutter. I hate a cluttered driving space. It makes me feel rather uncomfortable. I do believe those Recaro seats were mistakenly delivered to you. Message me so that I can provide you with the correct delivery address (mine) & we will sort out that minor mistake 😉
Hi Andrew. After a few months of the EC Vision, are you still as happy as you were at time of episode? I like the idea of a larger unit, but often the non brand units tend to have some bits that are not too flash. Any bits that annoy you with it? Thanks!
Hi Mate, Pls. Put the link of materials in below description & all best wish to you
Hi Andrew, did the Recaros lower you seating position overall? sorry if you have already answered this. Thanks
When is your next Q and a session? Wanting to get an idea of what work you have done yourself, and what has been done professionally. Thanks
I wonder what is the type of windshield protector?
awesome content
What fabric are takla seat covers? e.g. cantech, durotech, etc.?
"They're so well made that they look like original equipment".
No!
If they were Toyota original equipment they'd be made of grey plastic and vinyl.
Those MOTI consoles look somebody's stolen trim parts out of a Bentley or Maybach.
Have to say, though, it's almost a blessing that I can't afford stuff like that 'cos if I bought them I'd end up thinking about re-trimming the entire interior to match... and wondering what body parts I could sell to pay for it all.
Regarding TPMS, the pressure monitoring might not be useful off-road but the TEMPERATURE monitoring is incredibly useful.
Ideally, I'd leave the TPMS switched on but then have a switch to mute the alarm.
Switch labelling: If you can dismantle the switches, you can put the switch-caps into a laser-engraving machine and etch whatever lettering/icons you want.
Ideally, experiment with a sacrificial switch first.
Engrave lightly and leave as-is or engrave more deeply and then fill (carefully) with white paint.
Lastly, many, many thanks for naming your water boiler.
I was, literally in the process of designing a split hot/cold water tank so I could fit a 300w heating element into it and get rid of my separate hot water tank.
For the price, it'll probably be much more straightforward to dump my DIY heater and fit a Duoetto heater instead.
Its all well thought , but something puzzles me: how come you have several navigation screens and none close to eye lvl?
Handy Setup Andrew.
8:49 Re: 'overhead light bars' so far as i'm aware weren't they made illegal in Aus some number of yrs ago, early 2000's??
art mallory rules changed last year in WA
100% legal. www.transport.wa.gov.au/mediaFiles/licensing/LBU_VS_IB_132.pdf
I fitted a roof lightbar to the Troopy and took it over the ramps. They passed it because I had a sun visor. They make up their own rules as they go along.
Watching from Botswana we on day 1 lockdown
You could also run Gaia GPS on the iPad so then you have 3 alternatives ;)
As far as l can tell Gaia only has one general Australian map besides the crappy free one.
@@ShaneB666 didn´t know that
Whats the name of the song that starts at the begining of the program .
I find the snorkel interferes with visibility. I was wondering if they could run the snorkel into both A pillars and provide roof vents for picking up the air?
Unlikely. The A pillars are structural & far too narrow to provide sufficient air flow to supply the engine with enough air to run properly. The diameter of the pillars would have to be increased considerably. A redesign & engineering project like that would cost a huge amount of money that would then be reflected in the price of the vehicle. Let's not forget, this is a company that refuses to even fix the rear track issue on the already over priced tractor & that would cost significantly less than designing & engineering an entire new body & air intake system.
Hi Andy,
Please do a video on why TOYOTA doesn't fit a Automatic Gearbox in land cruiser 79, when it's the most reliable off-roader ?
Hi Andrew, do you really use everything you have in there? And is it possible to go overlanding without them?
Ahahaah Pierre your car it looks like a spaceship you are now ready to go to the moon!
Very cool stuff! I love the progress but please... Center the printed sticker labels on the buttons! My OCD is killing me! :P
Don't concern yourself. Be calm. These are temporary. :-)
Fan bloody tastic ..😁pip pips and carryon
Anyone able to find that dash bag/storage?
Hey mate, your link to 'products used' isn't working :(
