Thanks for the shoutout Adam! I had over 40 new subs yesterday from you mentioning my channel haha right on bro thanks again. Tough fishing that day, but there were definitely fish swimming through it. As the winter sets in and the water cools off, the action will shift to the dropper loops over the flylines for the YT. Cheers!
I grew up catching these amazing fish in Southern California. A lot of people look at them as either trash fish or bait fish, but I love them! They are very good to eat if you prepare them right! Adam is right, bleeding them is key!
A few yrs back, Adam, these fish all but disappeared. Word was that commercial boat had cleaned them out. They reportedly sold them to the petfood industry. Good to see them around, again. We never ate them & released them. We were told they had a strong fishy flavor. A catch & cook would be nice to see how you prepare them since you find them delish. Always a pleasure, my friend!
That’s cool you saw Chris Blevins! He’s a slayer for sure! I actually just got back from visiting your city SF for the wifeys bday. It’s beautiful up there, wish I could have stayed longer!
I really like you're videos. Looks like you put a lot if effort into making them. Those were some very nice fish. I cringe when ever I see some throw something out though 14:08. It only takes a few seconds to put the tag end into a pocket instead of the water. I know it seems like a small thing, but there are billions of people in the world, and if we all do little things it will make a difference in the long run. Thanks for the video.
I agree, I love this guys videos and a lot of fisherman do that but they don’t realize how bad it is. It’s like if everyone in the world chucked a tag end into the water our ocean would be full of tag ends

Love catching Bonitos. They give a good fight for their size. You should also try Sand Bass and Calico Bass fishing off of Newport during the summer. For your live-well, have you tried putting some ice in it for those warm days?
Planning to go down to SD sometime in the future, summer maybe earlier if I feel confident enough to paddle out into the open ocean 😂. It looks hella fun! Funny I've been watching Chris's channel a few weeks ago studying up, great info and content overall! Him, San dog(Glenn), Mikey fish n sips all providing great SD content, showing us how to get it down there! Damn that was an awesome trip to SD!
When I was a kid we would catch those out if the piers. A bubble and a feather jig would slay them. Just cast it a mile and rip it on the surface. Crocodile spoons work too
Bonito are great eating but only if you immediately bleed them out, like you did, and get them on ice. Otherwise, they are only good for crab traps or feeding your dog. Great video Adam!
back in the day I used to catch bonito from the Redondo Sport Fishing Pier, back then there was a factory that used ocean water to cool off there machinery and blew the warm water out in the harbor bringing in many species of fish including Bonito, once I caught a bonito on 6 lb mono fly lining an anchovie from the pier I had to use lots of tricks to get him in, good days
Hey Adam good job with a simple kayak you were able to get great fish. I would really hope you would be more informative like showing us how do you hook your bait, what does your lure that you started with look like, how did you setup your bait well. And most importantly of all how did you cook your bonita that made it taste better than yellow tail. I will be watching for that great info in your videos to come. Thanks for a great video.
Nice Fishing, Adam!!! I love your videos. So, I want to ask you about the Go Pro. What is the Better? Black 7 or Black 8??? I think that, as you have a lot of experience using those cameras, your opinion can be so important to help me to choose the correct one...
@@bloodypajamas1944 The trick is to not cook them hahahaha! As long as the meat is taken care of, any raw preparation is phenomenal, smoked and grilled are great as well. Same goes for mackerel 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Yellowtail usually will crush the head first when they take your bait. So the head would be deformed or eyes would be popped out if a yellowtail dropped it. But that’s just from what I’ve heard and witnessed
That boat has the whole damn ocean and cruises 150 yards from a kayak fighting a fish... what’s wrong with people? At least he literally didn’t run you over this time 😂
Got my kayak and got it rigged, only need a few more items..and waiting for January to get the license, although I may get a day pass here and there. Tomorrow is supposed to be astronomical high tide, not sure if that means rough waters??? Itchin for fishin...

Keeping large breeder bull lingcod is a bad example. He does this regularly. Calls them dinosaurs. Catch and Release should be the normal for youtubers/influencers. Keep only what you need for eating and feeding your family.
I notice you always set the hook a few times. Is this because you have a ton of line out or the type of fish your after? I only fish freshwater so that's kind of foreign to me.
Bonito taste oily when anglers dont clean them properly, particularly failing to getting rid of their blood or ice them properly. A warm mushy bonito full of blood is good bait but not so great for food.

They see Bonito as bait fish in Florida... Hatters there too. Looks great 👍.!
Pound for pound, those Bonito will fight as hard as just about anything that swims. I love catching them.

What kind of rod /reel
May I ask?.... so far, around how much have you.spent on all your gear?... boat and rods and all... thank you

Nice fish! Way to get em!
The key to bonito is definitely keep it fresh. And eating them sashimi/poke -bowl style is better than cook IMHO.
SD Fish and Sips can tow you out in his solo skiff lol.
Adam how do you transport your Kayak to the ocean .
What's that blue float tied to the side of your kayak.

Best raw.
Well done, Adam. Enjoyed it.
This is so badd ass it’s making me laugh haha
On the east coast in the Atlantic that's a really nice bonito!
I love Bonito! They’re delicious and fight super hard, closer related to pacific mackerel and dogtooth tuna than yellowfin and bluefin.
How do u like to cook them?? Would love if u wouldn’t mind sharing a recipe. I’ve always found them to taste closer to mackerel🤐

The California record for bonito is 21lb 5oz, caught out of San Diego in 2003.
Thanks!
You gotta post about your new set up for bait!

Fairly certain this man never feels guilty about skipping leg day at the gym.

Totally interested in the live well setup!
i was able to track it down baitshark.com/
Bonito are great on the plate done in egg & bread crumbs.

How recent was this?
You clipped your line and threw it overboard?????
It's a bummer he did that, cause it sets a really bad example.
Keeping large breeder bull lingcod is a bad example. He does this regularly. Calls them dinosaurs. Catch and Release should be the normal for youtubers/influencers. Keep only what you need for eating and feeding your family.
Bonito like shiny Jigs and feathers the reason why you don't see them get bigger than 15 lb is because you can't catch them at that weight
Greetings from Germany
I notice you always set the hook a few times. Is this because you have a ton of line out or the type of fish your after? I only fish freshwater so that's kind of foreign to me.
Try using circle hooks when trolling live baits next time
bleed and ice chill it...instead of leave on deck flapping around...will make a big difference in taste..
totally enjoyed that....
Trolling for yellowtail with braided line will get you a broken rod.
Bonito taste oily when anglers dont clean them properly, particularly failing to getting rid of their blood or ice them properly. A warm mushy bonito full of blood is good bait but not so great for food.
This is why they get a bad rap as anglers tend to throw them in a fish box and let them bang around.
Seal it up
Is yellow tail same as Jack Cravell?
Yellowtail are in the Jack family. But Jack Cravell is a different species.
Made it bro lets see sbats for denner
Mackerel!!!
Man, I wish I didn't move out of cali but I would've been homeless with the little money I was making 😩
Yellowtail scrape baits. If u get bit and no teeth marks that’s a yellowtail
That first hit was seaweed.
That sure is a noisy real
