6:35. That was an excellent catch. Definitely a reaction strike from a territorial perch. I've had smaller perch chase 12-15cm crankbaits. They'll never be able to get it down their gob but you can piss them off so much that they'll hit it.
Not netting the fish when it has hooks dangling outside its mouth, that is why I think you're a true angler! How many times you hear: 'oh, great, it came unhooked in the net'. Nope, it just tore its mouth to shreds. You have my respect!
It's so much fun to watch your videos, Chris. They're excellent all around. What I appreciate the most is your respect and careful fish handling. It sets a great example for others.
They are huge but pike rat things the same size as them well done Chris im 13 and love your content and stride to be like you so thsnks for all yhe advice snd content over the years ❤ we all love the videos
Early 1940s I lived in an old Yorkshire hamlet where large families lived in one up one down houses. Many were very poor, the family who lived next door to me. had a large family. The family boys were out Rabbiting or Fishing, any fish they caught they brought home for the table. I used to see huge Pike the older boys had caught, there was huge Pike caught in our local canal, it was a record mounted Pike that weighed 37 Lbs.on show in our Towns Gun Shop. It was said that the older boys had caught Pike that were bigger, and I saw some quite huge.ones the lads living next door had caught. The dad of the family used to fillet Pike on their front door step, removing the skin of Pike that reached from one end of the step to the other. Alas, not many had cameras in those days and I doubt if anyone had time to take a picture before the fish was on their table for dinner.
I had two Latvians and took a dead pike to them. They prepared and cooked it. It was beautiful white, firm meat. In Switzerland perch are considered better than trout.
Sadly those sizes have declined due to river and canal pollution due to surface drains from roads and streets plus farmland pesticides not to mention the immigrants not sticking to our country river and canal fishing rules. Its sad to say it and see it first hand for 20 years myself and nothing will change 😢 loved your story ❤
Great video Chris! I fish mostly fishing with 23cm and max 28cm softbaits. The bigger baits gets more attack from smaller pike than smaller baits but...i catch more bigger pike on a 23cm softbaits and jerkbait 15cm.
Chris - I have had Perch take lures slightly bigger than the 9cm lure I have been fishing - but to see a Perch take a 28cm lure and just be slightly larger? - that's astonishing! Great colours and condition on the biggest pike.
Cuts in softbaits are very easily fixed with a small piece of metal, and or lighter, just heat up but not burn! the two sides of the cut, then just press lighty together and it will fuse again. Deeper cuts you can use the metal for, to start at the bottom and do the fusing in steps if needed.
@@17losttrout yes that would work too in a pinch, but melting it, its basically as strong as before if done properly, superglue will always be a different layer with different material in it. You can also just melt down old softbaits into new molds to make new ones.
Such a nice man and a seemingly happy man. I've criticised him in the past for not being very 'tough' - for want of a better word - after falling over or cutting himself, but he's a pleasure to watch and listen to. Long may he continue to be happy in his fishing.

Ginger a couple of tips in your lessons for Snagged Bros. 1) Get them to dress like the background and not like Hawaiian rent boys. 2) Get them to get bikes. Probably best not electric. 3) Give them some tips on tackle and locations to fish. Obviously not your own favourites.
You can use a big single hook (use svartzonkers myself) insted of a stinger with two trebbels. Or a single and one treb on the bottom. I find the hook up to be pretty much the same but less snaggy.
Thanks for the great vid! Hope you've learnt now two important lessons! One don't ride bike with one hand and a fishing rod and two if you are riding a bike with one hand and a fishing rod eject the fishing rod before the crash! 😊😂😅
I regularly use 25cm lures now for pike. I find I get more takes from bigger fish than ever before (when using 16cm lures or smaller ones). It makes sense, I suppose lol.
how are you finding getting the right angle/length leader/trace behind the trolling camera? i tried it a while back with not much useable footage so its been sat since. You getting much footage worth using?
I tek it you watch Fly vs Jerk? If you and Dom went on it that would literally break YT. I know they typically fish Scandanavia and Holland but just started S13 and I see they have a team here in Ireland, let's see how they do (no spoilers please). 😊 Chew, The Fens, The Lakes or somewhere like that may be able to compete if they were pre-fished hard enough.
I catch alot of jacks on big baits. Despite them not being able to actually eat that size, they still go for it. Might be because they cant really estimate the size at first or they attack for territorial reasons. Only downside is the hook up ratio.
As always, I love your enthusiasm Quick questions x 2 What is that landing net ? it looks great ! Also - there was a black cylinder further up the line in some shots, but not in others - what is it ? Thanks again fella
Not such a good day for a new first time out set up!!?? Come on Chris, come back to earth buddy. To christen a new set up, first time out with a double figured fish (and from such a small river too) would delight most anglers. Nice rod but £300 though. Cheers for the video buddy 👍🏴
Hi Chris, watched quiet a few videos of yours myself and it’s clear your passionate about fishing and the welfare of them as well, what are your thoughts on the stinger set up in this video using swivels instead of trace wire, I personally fish a similar set up to you but would use several inches of trace wire as the stinger instead of linked swivels, in my opinion this set up of choice protects the teeth of the pike, as the pike thrashes and shakes it’s head the swivels can destroy the pikes teeth, with the heavy fishing pressure some of these fish already endure with more people than ever lure fishing for them us more experienced anglers could be more mindful of some of the setups we are using and make them as fish friendly as possible, I first come across this linked swivel stinger on some Scandinavian fishing video several years back and It seems to have influenced a lot of uk lure anglers to adopt the same approach without thought for the pike main hunting weapon its teeth, in Scandinavia the waters are so vast the fish may never get caught again, however over here in the uk we are sharing small waters and repeat capturing a lot of the same fish so protecting them has to be of upmost importance. I hope this finds you well and if you agree Chris could you possibly use your platform to spread awareness save a few of these beautiful fish from what I see as unnecessary up evil. Love your videos mate 🎣 Look forward to seeing your wild pets grow 🐟
You know it’s been a good day when the ginger fisherman releases a new video 🎣
Yeah man 🎉

Great story 👌🎣🐟
@@heyitsmetrousers4399 Sad BUT TRUE. I have seen immigrants lure fishing on our local reservoir and taking the pike away:(
Ginger is back! :) It's still a little warm around here but I can't wait to try to cast some bigger lures too. Great stuff, thank you!
3:15 wonderfull fish :D awesome condition congratz im jealous
i learn so much from this guy, i love him!
Love your care for the pike a lot of pike anglers could do well to learn from your videos . Great videos 👍
Cheers Chris, you are a star.
It's crazy what perch take sometimes. I had my pb perch this year of 2lb 5oz on a miruas mouse type lure. Fantastic video again.
I'm also in the middle of pike season. Very nice to watch now!
Brilliant. Cheers and tight lines.
You are just a very talented angler big love ginger fisherman ❤
That perch wasn't messing around! Beautiful dark colours on those pike. I love fishing with bigger lures

G'day chris, awes session with a beauty of a pike. All the best from down under mare. 👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you chris great videon 2:49 great hook set
6:50 I've seen perch attacking the perch I had on my hook more than once. Maybe it's like a territorial thing… As always, great video!
Brilliant as always . Catching that perch cool lol
👍🏴😁✌️
I’m literally impressed how many pikes attacked you bait. And I have no idea what that perch want to do with bait 😂 great session ❤

Chris, once again a very good video, please can you do a video using Herring Dead Bates?
Another great video mate. Can I ask how many cast u do in an area before u change lure or move on to new location I'm not having any luck 😅

Hey up Chris great vid as usual. I always wondered when you brush through nettles and get stung do fish feel the same when layed down on them.?
Top work pal 👍
Love this! Perch are awesome! 🎣
Great sesion 😊
Would love to see you fish some big reservoirs where the bigger pike are lurking 30lb++
Wow I carnt get over the perch trying to take that size bait . Brilliant photographer...😅
I regularly use 25cm+ baits and rarely catch big fish 😅 I'm forever catching Jack's on them 😂
Recently brought a 107 gram koi carp lure , looking forward to trying it
Good job Chris

I've just come back to lure fishing, just wondered if you are using barbless hooks on your lures Ginger?
i think fish like this actually go for the hooks as they shatter light around. they see the actual lure as competition
Very educational

Them fish must be very hungary to attack those baits
Well done 🎉

Experienced that exact thing (perch hitting a lure the same size as it) except that my lure was much smaller and the fish was much smaller
Excellent fish well-being as always, keep them coming lad! Respect!🎣 🖕✌🏼

I've had a good month if I catch just one jack 🤣🤣
Cris what do you use for your pool pond(chemical wise)
Big Bait,small Fish😊

nice new music =)
@6:35 Nice large mouth bass 😮
No largemouth bass where he,s fishing.
those gums looks so good
Thanx . The only thing that would have made it more fun would have been if you fell in. Martin London UK
Whats that harness you are using? Homemade or bought?
Whats your bigggest lure caught pike on a canal Cris.?
Which date was this filmed?
Very thick and healthy ginger beard. "Men Only" beard fertilizer I assume?
Brilliant ❤
Was using a slightly smaller lure and was catching jacks barely a pound weight 😂
What size braid? And what's the black box on the line?
what kind of landing net do you have?
What reel are you using?
I'd say the perch hit it for territorial reasons more than to eat it
What is the long black thing up above the trace?
No you are the beast 😅😅😅
I’ve seen a 45cm pike choking on a 40cm sander here in the Netherlands …..tail was still sticking outside his mouth
i think you should make the music quieter
Wouldn't Wana lose a couple of those lures a trip ,not cheap at all
where do u get ur lures from
Have you ever had a pike attack a fish you were returning?
I like pike, they taste nice.
