This is such a great video. I've been listening to YOB on and off for about 12 years and every time I come back to their music it's just more enjoyable.
Yeah they are like a good beer or wine it ages better and better and you gain the taste for it i didnt understand this band at first but after 2 live shows that blew me away and so many good records I just love this band now
How this band plays at such a none stop intensity with such intricacy for well over an hour with literally every note as good as the note before it until the amp turns off is absolutely mind boggling!! I’ve played in Stoner/sludge/whatever you wanna call it for so many years so I’m no stranger to long songs and sets and keeping the right tempo for riffs that can go 10+ minutes sometimes but I’m still in awe of these fellas!! And they are a power trio!! Which was my preferred format as well but you have to be solid, loud, and have a great bassist who can sit in a warm fuzzy pocket for days!!! #YOB equals #LEGENDS
Mike's guitar is a work of art. Reminds me of Carl Thompson bass guitars, but a bit more modern, and mean looking. Pretty damn fantastic footage, as well.
Burning The Altar is my fav. Blew out my hearing for two weeks standing close to Mike's speakers at WOW Hall a couple years ago while he played that one.
Thanks, Rich. I was sporting a bloody nose/face/hand through the whole set, too. Had a nasty face-to-face meeting with the concrete just an hour before. I really get into it when I start filming, though. It's almost like a martial art haha. Discipline!
+Doomed & Stoned Sorry man but why did the injuries you incured actually happen..?? LOL ? sorry for laughing really man..been there done that kinda shit.
+Corrupt Jupiter Yeah, what you're hearing is what we heard, at least standing that close to the stage. Would have loved to been able to mix soundboard audio with these, but none was recorded.
What's that amazingly dissonant and crushing chord he uses in Kosmos all the time? Hear that in so many great metal songs, no idea what it actually is...
Diff strokes for diff folks. I remb commenting on a Mars Volta video saying "You call this noise music?" . I guess as long noise is created using instruments it is called music after all.
Layne Giese my few favorite musicians use em, like mike here, and scott kelly of neurosis and many others, and wrest of laviathan. it has to be mindblowing, as those guys are all recognizable for their amazing sound....
yob with neurosis at the hawthorne theater last year was fucking amazing.....much better sound than this...(of course this is outside so it's always more difficult )...but the rafters were shaking...that shit was good...
Yeah, outdoors always tricky. Billy Anderson did the sound engineering and I'm hoping one of these days he'll release the audio (he did record it from the soundboard). We've talked about mixing it in with my original videos, but I'm not sure what kinds of extra hoops that would require. Hopefully it will happen one day soon!
0:45 Quantum Mystic
10:49 In Our Blood
28:58 Kosmos
42:47 Unmask The Spectre

Thanasis Katsadas fucking God 🔼🔼🔼
This the sort of thing you open and hit thumbs up instantly.
helllll yeah
The Power Of The Riff Lives Within This Band
a concert in front of a building with a random chick eating food next to a pickup truck that is metal :)
This is such a great video. I've been listening to YOB on and off for about 12 years and every time I come back to their music it's just more enjoyable.

The headstocks on those Monson guitars are like... perfect
I don’t think I’ve seen doom metal better represented than this video, from the background to the songs. Chef’s kiss

Burning The Altar is my fav. Blew out my hearing for two weeks standing close to Mike's speakers at WOW Hall a couple years ago while he played that one.
Fascinating video where what is interesting is the people in the background while awesome music is playing.
Always keep list to your best song!
Really, really grateful for this. Thank you so very much.
Cheers for recording, dunno how you kept the camera so still throughout the set, these guys absolutely kills it.
Thanks, Rich. I was sporting a bloody nose/face/hand through the whole set, too. Had a nasty face-to-face meeting with the concrete just an hour before. I really get into it when I start filming, though. It's almost like a martial art haha. Discipline!

kosmos- greatest track yob will ever write!
they are not that one dimensional, kosmos ain't even in my top 5, kosmos is great don't get offended, but they have a tonne of on par and better songs
in my opinion Marrow is their best track lml
"We have to more songs and then we're done" i.e. half an hour more.
Great job on the full vid! Brilliant music! Thanks for sharing! \m/
Incredible band. And I swear that's Joey from Acid King behind Mike at the beginning?!
And Lori behind him on the left around the 6:00 minute mark.
this is pure bliss.. pure emotion and wisdom concentrated/contradicted? in sound.. and this guitar looks pretty sexy to play...
I remember a great show with them .this band was cool as could be nice guys
Oh a 72 minute YOB video - that's basically a 5 song set (said with love and admiration)
I like their guitars.
Congrats a 5 star recording!!!
I NEED TO KNOW WHAT WOULDA MADE IT BETTER. IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS!
The amp buzz kinda sucks, other than that it rules
I come back every months to remind myself why this band is that
55:21 don't worry about your P90's, even Mike's mouth has the feedback...
Introducing at Roadburn Fest "We play 4 songs worth one hour. Thank you."
They blew us all away.

Nicely done, sir
Wish i could hear the vocals man.
+Corrupt Jupiter Yeah, what you're hearing is what we heard, at least standing that close to the stage. Would have loved to been able to mix soundboard audio with these, but none was recorded.
Lori S in the background thinking "God, my band actually sucks"
Can we all just agree that 48:51 is peak Yob
Monson guitars are perfect for heavy music.
LOL @ 1:05:01 Travis loses his drum stick
Frickin awesome dude!
Jef whitehead/Leviathan behind the drummer at 17:40??
What's that amazingly dissonant and crushing chord he uses in Kosmos all the time? Hear that in so many great metal songs, no idea what it actually is...
im going to hover fest !!
Jams!!!
Thanks man
There's no way those vocals have a chance of punching through that bone rushing wall of sound on In Our Blood

Anyone has a clue whats that bass?
Is that the Lateralus Eye on his frets? Gnarly

That guitar is beautiful, can anyone tell me what it is?
Its a Monson Nomad #1. Look here... www.monsonguitars.com/guitars/nomad.html
Layne Giese my few favorite musicians use em, like mike here, and scott kelly of neurosis and many others, and wrest of laviathan. it has to be mindblowing, as those guys are all recognizable for their amazing sound....
One question, does anybody know what guitar is Mike playing?
+Mitja Rupel www.monsonguitars.com/guitars/nomad.html
It's a Monson Nomad
This guy in the back at 0:50
Is that an EGC bass?
Yup
yob with neurosis at the hawthorne theater last year was fucking amazing.....much better sound than this...(of course this is outside so it's always more difficult )...but the rafters were shaking...that shit was good...

PA fail!
