The HDMI connection that your laptop has, is only and exclusively for video Output, it's electronically designed for that, so there's no way you could be sending video signal INTO the laptop using that port. So, the solution for that is use a video capture card, that would convert the video signal in something your laptop would understand through the USB port, it could be an USB or USB-c. Now if you combine the Convert Dock 2 with the Shadow Cast 2 you'll have the best portability possible, you could be playing in big TVs only using the Convert Dock 2 and the HDMI cable, aaaand you would be able to play in your laptop using OBS. ⚡
That's correct - to get in an image on the laptop screen, you'll need the capture card. The dock itself is just a HDMI source, so it requires a connection, but it a TV or capture input device.
Do I need the laptop capture card for this to work? I tried connecting without it and the video didn't pop up on my laptop screen. Any reason why???
