0:57 the power delivery chip inside the switch is not designed to be fed 6 volts, 6 volts is the maximum amount that the data line for that chip can take. You never want to feed a device the maximum voltage it can take, always something below the maximum. In the case of the data lines their maximum tolerance is 6 volts they're meant to be fed 5 volts. I should mention that is specifically the data lines the voltage lines on the switch go up to 15-20 volts since during docked voltage increases from 5 volts to 15 volts.
Voltage on the data line though never goes above 5 volts in a dock or any other device that is compliant with USB PD protocol.
Good work Neil, Though you mislabeled the Australian one ;)
Good to know that it comes with all of them though.
how long can you play with this? Is there some kind max time of use? Great video BTW. Thank you so much!
Shout out to the tiny little white insect crawing on his Switch case from 8:11 onward. It's in the lower left section of the center "S" until it crawls on the S.
LOL dude you didn't get any of the adapters right. The giant brick one with three prongs is UK, the one with angled prongs is Australia and the old telephone plug one is certain parts of Asia and Europe
Have you tried it with the OLED model? I'm sure it will work just fine, but I'm still a bit hesitant.
It's been a couple years. Any issues? Has anyone's switch been bricked by this dock?
The one with 3 out is the European one I find this in 🇮🇪 Ireland
would this work with the switch lite?
Does the dock support the quick charge protocol? I use a quick charge capable phone (xiaomi redmi note 5), quick charge 3.0 capable cable and the dock charges the phone with normal speed.
Would this dock work with the steam deck as well?
Any update your switch hasn't been bricked?
Nope, just used it the other day with ShadowCast for some gameplay capture. It’s never given me any issue. Thanks for watching!
Could you use the usb for at6 adapter
Would this work on my phone or I pad to capture gameplay
You could use this to output usb-c video to hdmi, but you'd still need a capture card
did he really just show us a video of a dock, but only give use 20 seconds of actual use time
Got one cause I hate the name brand docks
3 minute information and 7 minutes shaking adapter in front of camera.
Dislike for sure.
Might need to get me one of these. The more physical space I can save the better!
