There's nothing better than getting a surprise video from you! 🥰And it's autumn related? About books? And 40 minutes long? It really doesn't get better than this 🥺🍂🧡 I loved the creative names of the categories and have now added so many new books to my tbr - so many I had never heard about before but sound absolutely magical. Thank you as always Desi! ✨🥰
Thank you for saying that! 🥹 I want to ease back out of book heavy content and focus more on lifestyle moving forward but hearing when people enjoy the book videos makes me so happy 🥹🧡
I do enjoy all your videos, but i would prefer more lifestyle and fewer book videos. Glad to hear thats coming! I love the clothes, the baking, crafts, decorating, etc. So much! @DarlingDesi
I am a very sensitive reader, so not a fan of spooky or horror books, but I love watching you speak about books and always love all your book recommendations. ❤😊 you are one of my most favourite youtuber🧿❣️
Desi! You inspired me to FINALLY start reading again. After about 12 years of not picking up a book, your videos had me ordering “Rewitched” and have been enjoying every minute of reading it. (Almost done). I can’t thank you enough for bringing back a part of my life that I enjoy so much.
@@helenherning8530 This means SO MUCH to me 🥹 Thank you for sharing. Just your comment alone inspires me to continue sharing my love for stories and how they can change and shape our lives 🧡
If you haven't yet read Anne Rice's The Witching Hour, I thoroughly recommend it! Thanks for all of the great recs, Desi! I wish I could just read all day and all night.
As an older viewer, I would LOVE to see more cozy middle grade, adult fiction, historical fiction and classics on your recs list like you used to do. There's just soo much YA, and so those of us who don't read YA are kinda left out 😢 Glad you mentioned Slewfoot, as I'm currently reading it and it's really good!
Hmmm, I think maybe it’s just the book covers that make it seems like a YA book? Because there weren’t too many YA books included. I did a little count and I recommended 9 adult books, 3 YA books and 1 New Adult book. In my fall TBR I included 12 adult books, 4 YA books and 4 New adult books ☺️ I will try to include more classics and middle grade next time. These are just personally the books I’ve been loving this fall! 🧡
SO HAPPY to see The Diviners!! It’s my all-time favorite series and I re-listen to the audiobooks every fall (the narrator is fantastic)! Also I’m a librarian and have coordinated a couple author panels with Megan Bannen and she is an absolute doll! Thrilled to see her book here as well 💖 Thank you for another autumnal treat!
You hooked me!!! I read Dracul in a week!!! Couldn't put it down!! Fun spooky read for Oct. I am a romance girl. This never would have been bought by me if you had not told us of it. It was so good I could not put it down. When I would leave my mind wanted to know what was going to happen next. Couldn't wait to get home and read more!!🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
I am brand new to this channel and I have been binging your uploads for the past few days! I have been so inspired in so many ways. Thank you!! From one bookworm to another! HAPPY FALL!! 🎃🧡🍁
I don't have a book recommendation but last night during the power outage I ended up lighting some candles and listening to an old recording of the suspense radio show! It was so cool you might be into that
You are my favourite fall / Halloween UA-camr and my fav winter / Christmas UA-camr. I live in the southern hemisphere so the seasons sadly don’t correlate with the holidays😭 but your videos always give me the autumnal vibes I crave. ❤️ thank you for being so awesome ☺️
I'm so happy to see that several of these (maybe all- I only looked up a few!) are available on Kindle Unlimited! 😍🥰 I'm a busy stay at home mom and don't really get much time to go get physical copies of books, unfortunately. But Kindle Unlimited has been so convenient and helpful in letting me consume all the books I want from the convenience of my phone! And Desi, these are such good recs!!! I'm so excited to fill my fall free time with cozy, spooky autumnal reads 🥰🍁🍂🎃📚
So nice to see how you continue to recommend A Discovery of Witches! I read it when it came out and it was also an instant favorite for me. It's so underrated so I love that you make sure that people know about it
Desi, you are such a dear friend, like the way you chat with us, it truly feels like being with your girlfriends. You are such an amazing person for putting yourself into the world and being yourself, comforting others.
Hi Desi, I just finished the book “Wishtress” by Nadine Brandes on Audible, and hands down it has been my favorite book of the entire year. It’s about a girl who is born with the power to make wishes, but she has to cry to do it. Because each tear is what she has to use to make the wish. It’s filled with, magic, good and evil, and a love story. A very Clean love story. It’s a Young Adult fiction. You must listen to it on Audible, the narrators are amazing! Great video, I always look forward to your videos.
Watching this wrapped in a cozy blanket on my porch while the sun comes up. It’s the first properly chilly morning of the season and autumn magic is finally in the air! ✨🍂
Love your book recommendation videos. These type of videos of yours are what got me back into reading. I like the lifestyle videos as well but the ones about books is my favorite. Keep them coming.
Thanks for your recommendations ❤ the names you have come up with for the categories are perfect😊 I am in love with the whole series of A Discovery of Witches, the vibe it gives, the aesthetics and the plot are beyond any expectations
The Hacienda was so creepy. I was genuinely spooked! I don't normally like scary stories but my daughter (8 years old at the time) bought it for me for my birthday so it was required reading 😂. I did end up enjoying it, however! Thank you for all of the great recommendations!
Ive been watching you for three years thank you for posting and your the best part if my day! Thank you for the book recommendations adding them to my list 🧡
I just found your channel last fall, and I was instantly hooked!😃🍂🍁📚🎃 I absolutely love this time of year. But it wasn’t until last year that I discovered through you that there was a whole genre of books for fall that were not necessarily hardcore scary/horror books. I do enjoy some of those and I love Stephen King, but it’s been wonderful to go on your channel and not only get the names of books that fit fall so well, but also having you go over them first for your followers , well it’s been like a fantastic little gift for the season. I know now that there are other UA-cam channels that have Autumn TBR lists and other fall content, but you’re my favorite🍁🤎🧡. Thank you for providing such a cozy vibe for your subscribers. Because to me it feels like settling in with a steaming cup of cinnamon tea, turning on my GooseCreek Cider and Sweaters wax melts, grabbing a cozy blanket, then turning on my iPad to watch a new friend talk about everything wonderful and beautiful about fall. 💛☕️
If you like Ruth Ware, I recommend In a Dark Dark Wood and The Turn of the Key. Both are so good!! The latter is a play on The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, also known as the Haunting of Bly Manor. Bloody brilliant!!
HI Desi! I look forward to all of your videos! Thanks for the book recommendations. I love the atmosphere you create when doing your videos, they are warm and cozy like a book ❤ Take care!
One book i have already read and loved, a couple already on my tbr and soooo many new books to add, I'm so excited i think ill enjoy all these, thanks desi!
I recently moved from the Caribbean to Canada in August so now I'm getting to experience a proper fall and I'm so excited. We're still settling in and our apartment was unfurnished when we moved in so it's been slow to fill it with the stuff we need and I gave away all my fall and Christmas decor so I don't have much in the way of that but we have a big window in our living room that overlooks the park across the street and every time I look out I see all the trees with their changing leaves and it makes my heart so happy.
Sending hugs from Brazil! Here we don't have seasons defined, because it's almost like is always sunny and feeling like summer all over the year 😅 but I love the cozy vibes you're able to bring us in your videos, I love the autumn vibe, guess that's my favortite 🤎 can't wait to see more videos like this, thanks for this Desi. (Sorry for bad english)
BROM is freaking AWESOME!!! Have loved his artwork for over 20 odd years. Excellent dark art. So talented!! Now he’s writing books. Freaking awesome!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and have been watching your Fall content from previous years 🍂🍁🧡What a treat ! Your aesthetic is perfect in its imperfections which I mean in the nicest way. Your channel feels so real but also aspirational but in an achievable and loving way 🧡🧡
I saw your Instagram post and I can admit I'm not a book lover, but your videos inspire me to pick up a book and become a book lover! I'm so excited for all of your Fall content! 🍁🍂
I bought Phantasma because of this video and I am just over 100 pages in. So far, it is FANTASTIC! The main character, Ophelia, is so dry and witty, filling the read with vibrancy and humour. It is absolutely unputdownable and perfect for fall - I can’t wait to get further into it. Thanks so much for the recommendation Desi!!!!📚🧡
A book that gave me Desi vibes was Payback's a Witch by Lana Harper. The events are centered around Samhain (Halloween), there's 4 rival witch families with different types of magic, a magical town that reminds me of Stars Hallow, a fun revenge plot, a cute romance, atmospheric writing. It was so much fun to read. There are a couple spicy scenes but easy to skip if I remember correctly. One of my favourite reads and I really enjoyed the whole series (based around different holidays too so fun for the whole year). Definitely recommend!
I love ALL your Autumn themed videos! And I know I’ll love this one as well. But I just want to say initially that I love your cute cat sweater, your hair and how you’ve decorated behind you. This will be so good! 🎃 📚
Thank you for so many amazing recommendations😊 I wrote them all down so I can order them. I’ve lost count of how many books I’ve read thanks to your recommendations and I’ve honestly loved them all❤ Thank you Desi and Happy Autumn🍁
Perfect way to start the first day of a new university semester! 🧡 I read The Cloisters earlier in the year and think you’d like it. The Curator was also very different and intriguing. And Tripping Arcadia was my favorite read so far this year! 🍂📚✨ You introduced me to gothic books with your Dracul recommendation and I haven’t looked back! ❤🦇
Love all your selections and will be adding to my pile of possibilities. As for November reads I used to struggle as well until I became aware of Native American November where you read books either by Native American authors or with Native American Indians featured in the story.
I love T. Kingfisher, those books are always so magical! And since the audible sponsorship: some of those books are free on audible like "a wizards guide to defensive baking" 🧡
Hi, Desi! I've been following your content for 2 years now. I discovered you in my first year of high-school and I've loooved your content😊 Seeing a woman embracing her personality is so heart warming and helpful as a young girl 🧡 By the way, you advised me once on comments to read Keepers of the Lost Cities. I came from a tiring exams day and overtime council duty. I saw this as i arrived home and I came back alive! It's bed and Darling Desi time! Perfect timing tbh I've been craving this comforting energy huhuh love you Darling Desi!🤎🍂✨
I've bought so many books because of your recs so it's only fair to return the favour 😂 If you've never heard of A Night in the Lonesome October, it's absolutely fantastic. Two groups of magic users are competing to complete a ritual throughout the month October, starting on the 1st. Each chapter covers one night and the narrator is one of the familiars, a dog who gains the power of speech at midnight. It should definitely be up there with The Halloween Tree for Seasonal Classics I also really recommend The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge. The plot is a bit much to describe but theres an illustrated edition that's absolutely beautiful.
I love you Desie and all of your amazing videos! 😍 You put so much heart and work into your craft and I adore every second of them. I think I speak for all of your true fans who have been here for years like I have, we appreciate you SO much 🥰 Never change sweet girl 💕
36:43 Thank you for mentioning Hacienda and Vampires of El Norte!!!!!! These books dont get enough love from mainstream booktok or book vloggers. I read both and they are incredible!!!!
Such lovely recommendations! Sadly my local library has barely any of them, but I've put them on the list so I can keep checking over the months xD I absolutely love all your witchy book recommendations as I love reading witch related books all year around, and anything magic 😍😍😍
I’ve been waiting for this video. I love your book recommendations! I’m also an Audible girly. It takes me 45 min to get to and from work. With Audible, I can actually relax and go into my fantasy world. ❤
I recently started listening to “The Thirteenth Child” on audible based on your recommendation. 1. I never thought I’d enjoy listening to a book as much as I am. Ive always preferred my own voice in my head while reading, if that makes sense 😁 2. This book has me on the edge of my seat during my hours long commute everyday! Thank you so much desi! Keep them coming!!
Living for this!!! 🧡 I’m so thrilled you’re enjoying it. I am definitely going to listen to it next time I read it because Erin A. Craig always gets such good narrators for her audiobooks 🙌🏻
If you're looking for a non fiction book that still has the enjoyability of fiction I recommend 'A Taste for Poison' by Neil Bradbury. It is a bunch of chapters, each with a different poison, and he explains how the poison works, a little bit of history, and famous murder cases they were used in. Normally, it's not something I'd gravitate towards, but his way of writing is so charming and easy that he makes what would be dull and academic, an engaging story. And despite the book's non fiction status it does very much read like a series of tongue and cheek stories. If any mystery or true crime fans are in the market for something unique then I can't recommend this one enough.
I love all of your suggestions. Thank you for putting in the work! I highly, HIGHLY recommend The Lamplighter. I read an arc back when it was available and it was just so good. The author is also really nice. I wouldn't say it was scary per se, but it was very eerie while portraying important topics like grief and feminism. Support small authors like her. This was a gem.
You are my favorite part of fall on UA-cam ❤🎃🍂🍁
That is just about the nicest compliment ever! Thank you!! 🥹😭

36:43 Thank you for mentioning Hacienda and Vampires of El Norte!!!!!! These books dont get enough love from mainstream booktok or book vloggers. I read both and they are incredible!!!!
Such lovely recommendations! Sadly my local library has barely any of them, but I've put them on the list so I can keep checking over the months xD
I absolutely love all your witchy book recommendations as I love reading witch related books all year around, and anything magic
😍😍😍
Thank you, thank you Desi!! So many gems here 🤓📖🎃
I’ve been waiting for this video.
Ive always preferred my own voice in my head while reading, if that makes sense 😁
You're gonna love immortality! Thank you for the huge list, time to add some to the tbr!
I love your cottagecore routine kind vlogz..please do them again, they were your best kind of content till now
If you're looking for a non fiction book that still has the enjoyability of fiction I recommend 'A Taste for Poison' by Neil Bradbury.
Thank you, added it to my tbr 🧪
I liked that book too!
I would love autumnal vlogs 📷 and outfit ideas! 🧥🍁🍂

I preordered A Dark and Secret Magic because of you! So excited to read it in October. :)
Love your videos and thank you for all your book recommendations definitely be adding more to my list.
Same!
As always, another great book recommendation video! Thank you!!!
