the idea that you've made a three and a half hour documentary about a 700 page sjm book for our enjoyment...wow. tysm cari for all that you do, i wouldn't have your courage 💘
I love how thoroughly Feyre crumbles the spring court. So the solstice thing, basically Ianthe wanted her moment in the sun (literally) and marked the spot for her to stand to make it look like the sun was rising in her hands she had raised above her head. Very dramatic, the theatrics with her. All Feyre had to do was move the rock a few feet over with some wind power and boom, now the first light of the sun is on herself. She chose a white dress she looks holy almost. She also managed to have the only person next to her be Lucian, so that is the initial spark of Tammy boy feeling all wtf about her and Lucian. It's diabolical and I love it. 😂
Kinda spoiled by the fact she committed a war crime and probably caused a refugee crisis in summer all while an outside force is trying to invade. Smooth brain move overall.
The Suriel is the only part of the series that absolutely DESTROYED me. I was genuinely so heartbroken that I didn’t want to carry on reading it because WHY Sarah. What was the reason (I know the reason but also what was the reason)
they better MCU this shit and revive the Suriel somehow. I know SJM can see how devastated we all were about it. she must do right by us and bring back our beloved tea spiller. THERE HAS TO BE A WAY 😭
The way they discover that Elain is a fucking SEER, and that’s that. Why they don’t help her to use her abilities? The girl, although being in her catatonic state, grieving for the life that it was taken from her, tried to help somehow. With her visions, the idea to talk with Graysen to ensure shelter for the humans, with the Suriel, like how she managed to find him trough the world?! They only super protect her and don’t gives her a chance. They send her as far away from the battlefield as possible, only to have to winnow and stab Hybern. They tell Nephelle's story, that what we think is our weakness can be our greatest strength, and that the least likely person can save the day, but they totally ignore Elain.
Not gonna lie I'm bummed that Lucien, Cassian, and Azriel get no relationship resolution out of this and I'd never even heard of these books until I watched your channel. #justiceforlucien
Az is currently a huge red flag in a love triangle, Cassian has his story in ACOSF and Lucien probably gets his story told in the next book! So hopefully stay tuned for the next installment of Cari telling us the plot of faerie smut?
right?? i havent read the books but the only thing i cared about was lucien. it was a little unclear, did elaine reject him outright or is he still working to be with her?
these videos make me laugh so so much and as a hater/lover of ACOTAR i feel your conflicted pain on the fun and funkiness of ACOTAR, i feel seen and heard and understood, love ya
small thing but it's so funny to me how they chose to ignore elaine's visions and dreams that cleanly were weirdly specific and thought only nesta was connected to things.... like... gurl.... at the first line about twin ravens i would be LISTENING!
"Girls night: Amren edition", naturally includes murder. 🤣 This series was just the best, super well done Cari, it's so hilarious and reminded me how much I forgot about the books... And also how much more interesting it is without the spicy times. (Also, the Bryaxis voice gives me life)
Thank you so much for doing this series. I've tried reading and listening to the series but could never get into it. Now I don't have to feel any FOMO.
Nesta is my favorite character. I wanna hug her, laugh at her, slap her, cry for her and just read her actions. She is entertaining and makes me feel, which is the biggest compliment I can give a character.
I started hating her, then just disliked her. By the time I got to this book she started growing on me. But by Silver Flames, mannnnnnnnnnn… Nesta is the character I relate to the most. She isn’t perfect at all, she has a lot of problems with how she expresses her feelings, a lot of trauma. She seems the most human tbh. Reading her book was a whole experience for me and got me through a heavy depressive stage of my life. I have a special place for Nesta in my heart and I’m not afraid to say I’m a Nesta apologist, she deserves the world and people should cut her some slack.
@@natalee_a7 Silver Flames was my favorite for that reason! She was so relatable because of my own recent journey of healing from the death of a parent and other trauma.
2:31:53 i was bawling my eyes out while reading this scene, it was so so so incredibly sad, an “ugly” creature having one of the most beautiful souls in the whole series. it was the only time i cried throughout the book
Thanks you. I wasn’t going to read this series, but these breakdowns have been everything I didn’t know I needed. Thank you so much for spending the time to make these and keep me entertained while I hobby. 💕
Little tid bit for Cari and everyone - when Amren says, “When I am free, don’t run. It will attract my attention.” That is 100% a reference to Peter S. Beagle’s novel “The Last Unicorn.” The unicorn says a similar line to Schmendrick the Magician (you won’t have heard of him) after they have freed a harpy (along with a bunch of non-magical creatures) from Mommy Fortuna’s Midnight Carnival and are trying to escape. “You must never run from anything immortal. It attracts their attention.” In the book, the unicorn, an immortal herself, is transformed into a human by a spell, and her love story is eventually thwarted by the need for her to transform back into her true form. I love that Amren is basically a dark, gothic love letter to that story. Maybe??? Ok that’s all! I love these vids! Thank you for making them!
Ok but the way Feyre manipulated the blessing during summer solstice to hurt Ianthe as GOLD. I was so proud of how she did it. to move the marker so the light would hit her instead of Ianthe and use her glowing power to add to the illusion of being the blessed one. Ianthe was frantic! 🤣 I loved it. It was so petty and just beautiful.
I know you said you're not gonna do the rest of the series, but Cari you gotta. It's just 2 books left for now, can you really say you're done with it without doing ACOFS and ACOSF as well? I don't think so. Besides, *spoiler for crescent city* how can you keep going with crescent city and not this since they will unite at one point or something?
Can we just talk for a moment about how the editing of this 3.5 hour video is consistent and HILARIOUS. Girl you deserve an Oscar for the effort you put into these videos.
Yes Cari, bringing us the PG-13 version of Sarah J. Maas books as always and I love it! On a side note, I know this is how far you want to go with this series, but like, I would love if this ending leads to the beginning of a Throne of Glass series explanation, because I need that filter on that series. Great world and characters, but too much SJM smut haha.
I love these “here’s the entire plot of” videos by you❤️ - you’re so engaging I didn’t expect to be so enthralled by acotar related content. If you related Percy Jackson books I’d die
I've never read a word of SJM. I don't know what trail through the internet brought me to your "Here's the entire plot of Crescent City/ACOTAR" series. But here I am, captivated, entertained, enthralled. I hope we don't need to wait until Crescent City book 3 for more summaries like these. I know they're a lot of time and work, but please know they're wonderful.
I know how many long hours it must take you to write up these videos. I hope this helps and I really encourage others to do the same if you like this content. Please consider doing more of these types of videos. They make me smile unlike anything else. I'm a grown ass woman and I've been recently OBSESSED with these books, finishing the whole series in less than a month. I have been both shameless and ashamed over how much it has burrowed into my brain. Your reviews have tickled me pink and I feel the spell lifting a bit with each hilarious in depth review! There were so many elements of the series I thought were really well done, I personally loved the smut but your inflections on the plot holes...I hate to admit it, spot on! I'm so glad I discovered your channel!

Cari, I want to thank you so much for all you do, wither it's on this channel or your main channel, your videos have helped me so much over these last two years, either watching you explore Korea or finding great book inspiration and recommendations or watching this beautiful series of acotar or crescent city, I just want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for providing a safe space for me to find joy and happiness in this crazy world
Please do the rest of the series!!! Your video is an oasis whenever I have a bad day at work. I don't have enough time to read for leisure but you're making it possible!
One thing I love about these videos is that you try to stay objective. You of course lean toward opinions, but you try to keep it up to the viewer which is unique among the booktubers I’ve found and why I keep coming back to this channel above all the others
That the only thing that made me cry through the first 3 books.. remembering how she saw her “Dad” in the spring court, then Tamlin mocking her for her father not doing anything to come save her. To me rolling my eyes that her dad was just mysteriously always gone in ACOMAF, to come full circle that he was rallying all the troops. Ugh my heart
Hi Cari! I wanted to express my gratitude to you for this series! I wish I could give you more (I’m but a humble barista), because this has not only given me hours of enjoyment, but also reignited my interest in the entire ACOTAR series. The way you convey the characters’ dialogue to the audience is so genuine and each character has a unique voice. You did amazing with this series and I can’t wait to see more plot summary videos, if you’d like to keep making them. Thanks again for giving us a more accessible introduction to, imo, a very fun and emotionally thrilling fantasy!
honestly the whole miriam and drakon story basically being Moses parting the red sea and the book of breathings canonically being in hebrew/aramaic was one of the major things that really took me out of the story. same with the bone carver and weaver being siblings with an immortal death god from actual russian folklore. felt like sjm was running out of ideas and she could have just left this stuff out entirely instead. also rhys and feyre always being 10 steps ahead was cute and smart at first but it got tiring when they were CONSTANTLY ahead of the reader. anyway, love the recap!
like when they're all mystified by this ancient language in the book of breathing and amren is like.. "it hasn't been spoken in thousands of years" all spooky and amren-y and then she's calls it "lashon hakodesh" which is "the Holy Tongue" in hebrew and literally just what old torahs were written in. it just rly took me out of the "fantasy" world
Yeah, and Amren is the Angel of Death who passes over the houses of the Hebrew who leave lamb's blood on their doorways. She says she is a 'messenger,' which translates literally in both Hebrew and Greek to 'angel,' and that she was an assassin for a wrathful God. She drinks blood, and lamb is her favorite. When she goes hunting through Velaris, people leave blood at their doors to propitiate her. Calanmai is Beltane, the summer festival later on is Lughnasa, Miryam and Drakon live in Crete, everyone in northern isles mythology from King Arthur to Fionn mac Cumhaill is mentioned by myth in these stories. Look at the map. The story of the Harp being able to open doors to Other Places, and Angel of Death Amren, Koschei the Deathless Russian fairytale guy, Tarquin the High Lord of Summer with his Roman King name, Helion whose name is Greek for Sun, it's all meant to reflect our world. It's meant to be a place on the other side of the veil. It's meant to be faintly familiar. That's kind of the point.
Thank you so much for these videos Cari! These videos have been the most delightful experience ever!!! I had never read ACOTAR so I decided I’d start, but what I did was read a few pages and then watch your recount of the events and it made me *squeal* even more as I worked through book1, book2 and now…book 3. Finally finished this godforsaken trilogy yesterday (this book in particular was a SLOG that had me taking many breaks between reading) and I think the only scene that gave me any true sense of emotion/sorrow was with the Suriel. The Suriel is the only part of the series that absolutely DESTROYED me. I was genuinely so heartbroken that I didn’t want to carry on reading it because WHY Sarah. What was the reason (I know the reason but also what was the reason)
that part broke me so thoroughly, and i wasn't really invested in any of the characters. the suriel was just nice, they deserved better
Did I cry when he died? Yes. Yes maybe.
I was BAWLING my eyes out
they better MCU this shit and revive the Suriel somehow. I know SJM can see how devastated we all were about it. she must do right by us and bring back our beloved tea spiller. THERE HAS TO BE A WAY 😭
I JUST WANTED TO SEE LUCIEN HAPPY !!! what does sjm have against him 😭😭😭
I KNOW. HE DESERVES BETTER 😭 PLEASE IM BEGGING ALREADY FOR HIS BOOK.
@@onewayoranother1DSAMEEEEE
Yesss!!! Same!!!!! I love him and he deserves his happy ending!
Did I marathon all three of these videos over three days? Yes I did. I am now an acotar professional. Your way of storytelling had me so invested 😂
THIS!!!! Meanwhile Feyre HATED being sent away but happily did it to Elain 😂😂😂 I can’t with Feyre!
Loved her in book 1.
I cannot thank you enough for the hours of entertainment you have given me. I am so glad I found your channel.
@@valerieysabel123 how is az a red flag?
@@narendrapratapsingh9181 i think they meant red herring lol
right?? i havent read the books but the only thing i cared about was lucien. it was a little unclear, did elaine reject him outright or is he still working to be with her?
if lucien gets with elain and not tamlin i will genuinely be so upset
these videos make me laugh so so much and as a hater/lover of ACOTAR i feel your conflicted pain on the fun and funkiness of ACOTAR, i feel seen and heard and understood, love ya
small thing but it's so funny to me how they chose to ignore elaine's visions and dreams that cleanly were weirdly specific and thought only nesta was connected to things.... like... gurl.... at the first line about twin ravens i would be LISTENING!
The way you voiced Briaxis is giving me life! Just fucking amazing, I'm howling with laughter.
I played that part twice. It was gold!😂
"Girls night: Amren edition", naturally includes murder. 🤣 This series was just the best, super well done Cari, it's so hilarious and reminded me how much I forgot about the books... And also how much more interesting it is without the spicy times.
(Also, the Bryaxis voice gives me life)
This is me buying a ticket to the show 😄 So enjoyable especially as I'm not reading the books. What great work! Thanks so much!
It attracts their attention.”
In the book, the unicorn, an immortal herself, is transformed into a human by a spell, and her love story is eventually thwarted by the need for her to transform back into her true form. I love that Amren is basically a dark, gothic love letter to that story. Maybe???
Ok that’s all! I love these vids! Thank you for making them!
YESSSS!!!!! Finally someone got the reference!
@@angelapiccolo275 yaaaa 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Do you think Amren was a harpy???
THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT MY MIND WENT TO UPON HEARING THAT LINE
I’m so sorry to hear about your family’s loss- wishing you comfort in these trying times. Love your work, thank you Cari!!
Nah same tho and she was PISSED too so funny for no reason tbh
feyre in her kevin mcallister era in the spring court is probably my favorite part of these books
Girl you freaking deserve this! The amount of work you must put into these and they freaking make my day. Thank you!!
factss
I know you said you're not gonna do the rest of the series, but Cari you gotta. It's just 2 books left for now, can you really say you're done with it without doing ACOFS and ACOSF as well? I don't think so. Besides, *spoiler for crescent city* how can you keep going with crescent city and not this since they will unite at one point or something?
well to be fair she did say she was only going to read one more crescent city book
Please girl I love these videos. I don’t even read but you deliver it so well
u could at least say please 😭
yess!!
DO IT DO IT DO IT
You are amazing! Thank you for the absolute HOURS and hours that you spent on this to bring us all JOY
Can we just talk for a moment about how the editing of this 3.5 hour video is consistent and HILARIOUS. Girl you deserve an Oscar for the effort you put into these videos.
The music cues for this video are absolutely SENDING me
Same lol what song is played for the bat boys?
The little music when she reveals the bone carver 😂😭
Yes Cari, bringing us the PG-13 version of Sarah J. Maas books as always and I love it! On a side note, I know this is how far you want to go with this series, but like, I would love if this ending leads to the beginning of a Throne of Glass series explanation, because I need that filter on that series. Great world and characters, but too much SJM smut haha.
The close up of Maurice with the pirates of the Caribbean theme killed me 😂
That part legitimately made me laugh out loud
I love these “here’s the entire plot of” videos by you❤️ - you’re so engaging I didn’t expect to be so enthralled by acotar related content. If you related Percy Jackson books I’d die
I've never read a word of SJM. I don't know what trail through the internet brought me to your "Here's the entire plot of Crescent City/ACOTAR" series. But here I am, captivated, entertained, enthralled. I hope we don't need to wait until Crescent City book 3 for more summaries like these. I know they're a lot of time and work, but please know they're wonderful.
I just can't stop laughing every time I picture Five as the bone carver. It's just so funny but also really accurate...
For real, that’s actually a great fancast 😂
I know how many long hours it must take you to write up these videos. They are absolutely my favorite part of your channel, but I know the ad revenue doesn’t cover the effort you put into making them. I hope this helps and I really encourage others to do the same if you like this content.
Please consider doing more of these types of videos. They make me smile unlike anything else. It’s been a hard week for me and this made everything so much better. Thank you! ❤️
So I basically binged these three videos because I do NOT want to read the books but I wanted to be "in the know", you know? This was a surprisingly entertaining summary. It sounds like...a glorified Wattapad story.
Well done.
These videos have been the highlight of my free time & I’m really thankful for all of your hard work on them, they’re so funny and the bat boys intro song gets me every time💀💀 anywayss you’re literally the reason I’ve started reading again & I hope ur doing well cari! Tysm ☺️!!
Girl you’re heaven-sent. I read ACOTAR when it was first starting to get popular on booktube and absolutely hated it. I really didn’t get what everyone else was raving about and I knew I didn’t want to read the rest of the books but I wanted to know where the plot was going. Your videos have saved me from wasting my time and keeping my sanity while also satisfying my curiosity. I can’t even imagine how long it must’ve taken you to put all these videos out. Big fan. Thank you so much :)
I hate how Feyre had a bubble bath and completely forgot about Lucien still covered in dirt and mud
My partner and I got so excited for every installment of these videos- thank you so much for summarizing one of my favorite series in such an enjoyable way. I'm so, so glad you made these!!
"The sun was shining when I left you" must be one of the best lines SJM ever wrote 🤣 it's such a daaaaauuuuuuumn moment 🙌🏻
Cari thanks so much for these videos. I've never given money before but felt the hours of entertainment and countless times I've rewatched these, that I needed to give something back. Can't wait to watch this, as I've been dying to know the ending!!
I just cried for a story and characters I didn't particularly want to know more about when trying to read the first book. You are the most amazing storyteller, Cari, and I cannot wait to continue with your Crescent City summaries and all others that you will hopefully put out! I'm so glad I found your channel this year :D
The fact you can actually pronounce every characters name! Girl go ❤❤❤ started this series with Stephanie Soo but you are definitely my MBE now I can’t just thank you
Jurian, 2 eyeballs in tow 😂 💀 funny as always and thank you for yet another great plot video. I will be waiting for ACOSF and here’s something to convince you. Though we absolutely love the long videos, when you do the ACOSF video just imagine how short it will be since you’re a SJM smut anti! You get to do a shorter video and we get to enjoy watching it, everyone wins! Yay!
Yesss thankuuu for putting it like that cari preety please @caricariread
This was truly the slayest of all slays. obsessed that this video is exactly 3 hours 33 minutes and 33 seconds long. probably going to watch this on repeat. I could listen to you talk about the next book or any book! In love with your earrings!!
Thank you for all the hard work on these! Was fun baking and crocheting while gasping at the story twists with you ☺️
When all of the high lords were bickering over where to have the meeting and when, i like to imagine it like one big ancient group chat lmao
The smut was 🔥 😂
I feel as if I’ve been waiting my entire life for this video. The dopamine hit I got from the thumbnail alone 🥺
I’m so ready for the saga to conclude. Take good care of yourself Cari.
after reading acotar i stopped reading the series but these vids had me picking up the next two 😭 i owe u my life thank you for your service
SAME I said I’d never finish this series and read books 2+3 in a week 😭😭
Me toooooo
Girl these videos are getting me through the December slump I’m getting all the escapism from these ridiculous books but don’t have to tolerate the sjm nonesense you’re truly doing gods work
Girl,I watched this as a recap of each section I was reading. So, instead of nearly 4 hours, it took me a few days to get through all this. I love your commentary, and I'm looking forward to watching more of them
I hope Seattle was fun
Thanks! I personally wouldn’t mind if you kept going with the series 👀. This was amazing thanks for the hard work !
Feyre's dad with the ships actually made me almost jump out of my seat
and then he just fucking…dies 😃
“A blueberry lemon muffin, if you were curious…excellent choice” 😂😂
Thank you for these videos!
honestly the whole miriam and drakon story basically being Moses parting the red sea and the book of breathings canonically being in hebrew/aramaic was one of the major things that really took me out of the story. same with the bone carver and weaver being siblings with an immortal death god from actual russian folklore. felt like sjm was running out of ideas and she could have just left this stuff out entirely instead. also rhys and feyre always being 10 steps ahead was cute and smart at first but it got tiring when they were CONSTANTLY ahead of the reader. anyway, love the recap!
like when they're all mystified by this ancient language in the book of breathing and amren is like.. "it hasn't been spoken in thousands of years" all spooky and amren-y and then she's calls it "lashon hakodesh" which is "the Holy Tongue" in hebrew and literally just what old torahs were written in. it just rly took me out of the "fantasy" world
It also doesn’t help that “Illyria” is quite literally just the ancient Greek name for Croatia and the Western Balkans
V😊😊😊
To i😅
You’re telling me the character literally named The Sun isn’t the character described as “the sun personified?” Ms. Maas I have questions…
I've binged all of these videos and now I imagine feyres voice as hers, and it honestly fits
Girl, THREE & A HALF HOURS??? This is gna keep me company all evening thank you for your service 🙏🏽
Thank you for taking the time to make these as they have been the absolute highlight of my life these past weeks…please don’t stop before ACOSF!
How is NO ONE talking about Cari's use of the "I'm Not Okay" opening?! Especially when she put FIVE from the UMBRELLA ACADEMY adaptation of GERARD WAY'S COMICS as the BONE CARVER during an estranged FAMILY REUNION?! My emo self is LIVING rn!
Not me having to pause to cry when their dad shows up with an army and boats. I haven't even read these books I've just watched all your vids. I'm a sap!!!!
What is it about humans that it is so compelling to watch a person tell me a story for 3 hours while pointing at photos on her wall??
I (21 M) have been binging these with my girlfriend. I have not read any of these books, but I can not put into words how much I enjoy these videos. I am far from your average viewer, but I can not emphasize how happy it would make me to get an acosof video. Just wanted to throw that out there.
aaa i cant believe the finale is out! i found your channel literally 2 days ago and binged a ton of your videos, but the acotar video essays have been the highlight of my week! your humor is always on point, i cant wait to see whats next for you!
Thanks! My wife and I enjoyed the retelling and for me not having to read the series myself.
The amount of enjoyment I get from watching these plot videos of books I never intended to read is immeasurable. Please keep doing more!
38:29 the scream i scrumpt, IM CRYING that’s one of my favorite tiktok sounds. You do such a fantastic job reviewing these books. I actually want to read them now, but do I even need to. You’ve said it all.
girl, you are everything, that braxis part (1:34:00) got me laughing so hard
My grandma is reading ACOWAR right now and this was the BEST possible way to brush up on the story for our book talk! Can't say I am particually looking forward to her notes about the spicy scenes though lol. But THANK YOU for this amazing video, I swear I could watch these videos for days
Aww this is so sweet. My grandma read the twilight series with me when I was in middle school and it meant so much that she was interested in something I cared about at the time 💘
Also your grandma reading the smut scenes omg 👀😅
Aw me and my Nana sort of buddy read these, as well as myself and my bestie. In care you're wondering, my Nana is ENTHRALLED. Which I knew she would be.
100% here for this obsessed with your summaries. Idk about everyone else but personally I Iive for long videos especially when they’re done so well 😊
I get very bogged down reading so you doing these videos is a life saver! Thank you for putting so much effort into these!! ❤️❤️
I love listening to audio books of books I’ve already read while working but your videos have been so much better. I love the silly little additions you add like bryaxis’ voice and I especially love when you get names wrong. It cracks me up. Thank you for your videos!
I'm at the 1:25:00 mark and I am SO bothered by how nobody seems to wanna investigate what the hell is going on with Elaine? Are we just gonna ignore this?? Bc the things she keeps randomly saying sound too much like prophecies or insights or *something* to me and it's grinding my gears that these ancient magical people aren't picking up on it and doing something about it. Someone pls reassure me I'll get closure on this! 😭
Edit: oh *FINALLY*! Gawwwwwwd, I was losing my mind. Homegirl's a Seer! Why they didn't come to this conclusion earlier, I don't know but at least they friggin got there.
I man still, th whole firt book is of riddles and that. at last.
Don't forget that every single character is basically 13 and they think and act exactly like 13 yo thinks immortal high fae would act. It doesn't make it easier but it does explain why somebody would genuinely think that a tattoo of the phases of the moon is this rad concept. 😂
thank you cari!!!! absolutely love the way you explain everything and thank you for spending hours to bring us this masterpiece!
Hope all is okay. ♥️ Thanks for making these.
Finally finished this godforsaken trilogy yesterday (this book in particular was a SLOG that had me taking many breaks between reading) and I think the only scene that gave me any true sense of emotion/sorrow was with the Suriel. SJM never produces any real sense of fear or tension cause everyone important survives these deadly injuries/literally comes back to life. But I really did tear up a bit at the suriel’s death.
Cari, I NEVER would have been able to continue this series without you and these entertaining plot summaries! I started ACOWAR a couple months ago, but had to put it down because "life happened"... and I don't remember enough to finish the last few chapters. So here I am getting caught up to speed again! 😊
