I'm so glad UA-cam recommended this video to me! Thank you for the lovely autumn book recommendations-I'm going to pick up 'Small Favors' next time I'm at the bookstore!
What makes me feel cozy and autumnal is Desi's videos! I'm not American and I don't relate to all of the content but your videos just give me that warm and cozy feeling that I've been binge watching them since I discovered you about 10 days ago. And it feels as if I've known you for years - that many videos I watched. Thank you!
We randomly had a pumpkin vine come up in our garden even though we hadn't planted pumpkin in two years. I'm so glad it did because we made pumpkin roll with one of the pumpkins that it produced. It's not fall here yet but it definitely is making me ready! Pumpkin roll is hands down the best pumpkin dessert. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it.
“It reminded me that life doesn’t have to be serious all the time” when you said that my eyes started to water. I’ve just been feeling sad lately but you’re right, we all need to feel like a kid again sometimes and to just have a nostalgic moment like watching cartoons like how we did as kids ❤️
Movie recommendation: The Fox and The Child. One of my favorite movies ever! TV Show recommendation: Little Bear. Some of the episodes are very Autumnal: There is one with Little Bear dancing with a scarecrow and flying to the moon launched by pumpkins. The Goblin one is so cute too. The whole series is like a Cottagecore watercolor painting set to classical music. Book recommendation: Grimm's Fairy Tales
I'm not going to lie, I read your comment and got SO excited that Aunt Hilda got a spin off 🤣 my bad lol. That would have been awesome. I'll have to check out that show though so thanks for the recommendation
I absolutely LOVE "Crimson Peak"!! I also recommend "Ready or Not", such a good film and I feel it's underrated! Also I was fortunate to wear a costume worn by one of the Elders in "The Village" for a Halloween event, so it makes me love the film even more! :)
Autumn is my favorite time of the year! Having a good reading book and a corner area of your home is a great idea. I never thought to do that in our apartment. I will be looking for a good reading nook this season!🍂🍁🍄
Now I’m going to rewatch Sherlock. I love love love that show (the first 3 seasons, that is) and haven’t seen it in years so I know what I’m going to be splurging my time on at night. 🥰 Also I never watched Gilmore Girls growing up in the 90s but I hear you talk about it and am curious! Last year in Autumn we showed our little boys the original Scooby-Doo (first season) and they loved it. It was super cozy to all sit down together in October and watch it with popcorn and snuggle under the blankets!
I think i’m also due for a good Sherlock rewatch. And Gilmore Girls actually first aired in October of 2000, but a lot of the clothing and styling was still reminiscent of the later 90’s. Just give it a try and watch the first episode. It’s so wholesome and cozy 🥺🧡
I was having a bad mental health day and seeing your new video just made me feel so much better. Thank you for being here and being such an amazing, pure person 💜💜💜
I've been in a really bad reading slump lately and just can't seem to commit to a book, but your book hauls (especially the Autumn ones) are definitely helping me get back to reading! I bought a new book based on one of your Autumn book recommendation videos and I'm so excited to read it! Thanks Desi!
Loved all of these! I, too, come so alive during autumn! "The Book Of Magic" -the final book in Alice Hoffman's series, comes out Oct. 5 & I cannot WAIT to read it! I also love to wander cemeteries-the art, adoration and history is so wonderous to me. I love to make paper & graphite or charcoal pencil rubbings of particularly interesting headstone designs & frame them in a vintage style thrifted frame-I think it's a beautiful way to honor someone especially if they passed so long ago that no one is left that knows or remembers them.
I love that so much 🥺 Now i’m inspired to go to a cemitary. Thank you for sharing! And I too am SO excited for The Book of Magic! Really hoping it’s a BOTM pick like Magic Lessons was last year ✨☺️ It’s going to be so good!
I only have strong enough internet for watching videos when I’m out doing laundry, and you literally uploaded this while I am here! Thank you Desi you are such a gem, I was so excited for your autumn videos to begin but did not know when I could watch them. Made note of nearly every wonderful recommendation, as always love your videos and aesthetic so much!!! 🥰🍂
Love! Yes to autumn, and not a moment too soon! I love Rosamunde Pilcher, a scottish author who writes cottage and cozy in most every book she penned. I read September every year at the start of September and Winter Solstice at the beginning of December, I love her stories! One of the best things about autumn for me is wearing my hand knits again! I knit all year, but there is something especially wonderful and comforting holding soft warm wool and needles in the chill of a frosty morning! If you have not yet tried to knit you might find you love it🥰🧣🧺🧶🍂☕️📚🕯🪵🐿
We love Practical Magic. That and Hocus Pocus are a tradition every October. Because of your recommendation last year, my youngest daughter and I started watching Gilmore Girls, we bought the whole set on eBay, she has probably watched each episode 10 times. And Scooby is on in this house everyday!😁

Autumn is my favourite season and Halloween my favourite holiday. So I start preparing myself in August, reading horror stories. Sadly these days are scorching hot, but thinking of September soothes me somewhat.
CLUE!!!! My family and I quote this movie all the time (thanks to me🙃). The vibe is when it is a dark and stormy rainy night, we all think "Clue".And oh girl- the first thing I do when I walk into a bookstore or find an old book- I have to take in a deep breath and soak up the old book smell.
Also when you speak about Tom Hiddleston, another really great film for autumn is Only Lovers Left Alive. It's a bit on the art side but it's just so beautiful and with the right melancholic, autumnal atmosphere
Desi, thank you for making me excited for the seasons! I always wondered why people got excited over changing season and now I know why! I can’t wait for autumn to start. I really want to do autumnal things now! Thank you Desi. For making my life more exciting and joyful. You change so many people’s lives whether you realize it or not. I just want you to know that I love you and your content
So cozy, Desi! I'm the same way as you, I feel peak myself during the fall & winter months, and agree so much that the autumnal aesthetic is best captured by the arts! So excited for all of your fall/spooky content, too, you excel at it !
I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit and healing energy. I first lost my Mom then later, during quarantine, I lost my Dad too. It’s been inexplicably soul crippling for me but your videos have been the sliver of warm light in the dark beaconing me to push through. If you ever have a bad day just know you are truly creating meaningful change in so many lives every day. Beaming love and support to you, always!
Desi, I wasn't originally planning to comment but I've watched this video every day since you uploaded it, so I figured it's time I let you know you're the most soulful person I've seen on the internet. Your care and appreciation for the little things in life, your delicate approach to crafting each video with something for us to take away, and your genuine passion for life and what you do has made your channel incredibly valuable to me and many others (and yeah, ok, the aesthetics also help a bit). I hope you enjoy your work as it seems you do and that it brings you fulfillment, because watching your videos definitely has for me
Loved this vid so much! I’m so ready for fall, I literally just got a pumpkin spice latte, btw to anyone reading this comment I strongly recommend Over the Garden Wall, it’s a PERFECT autumn show and is literally a master piece
You should read "The Angel's Game" from Carlos Ruiz Zafon, its sooo good, its placed in 1930's old Barcelona, it has love, mistery, sensuality and a nice deep dark vibe without being spooky. One of my very favorites. Big hug from Portugal
I just recently discovered your videos during such a dark time in my life. I cannot express in mere words what you have done for me. I lost myself these last four years, but you have started the journey of discovering me again and what makes me happy. You are truly a kindred spirit. I am so much like you, but I've been lost. Thank you so much, beautiful spirit!!
i've always been told that my fascination and interest with the victorian and edwardian era was weird or strange but your videos just make me feel so seen and understood. thank you
You surpassed my expectations. Besides my pumpkin-spice coffee, you were my favorite part of this morning. I love the idea of going to a library with my tote bag and researching strange causes of death during the Victorian era.
I'm fully living my life like it's already fall. I decorated my apartment for fall, switched to fall candles and have transitioned to spooky reads. Is it still in the 70s and 80s where I live? Yes. Can't wait for sweater weather to arrive.
Lovely to see some recs that I haven’t heard of before, I’m so excited to try some of these this year! 🍂In the same vein as BBC Sherlock and Adventures, I’d definitely recommend both the Granada Sherlock Holmes TV series with Jeremy Brett and the ‘80s Russian series. The colour schemes, cobblestones and gas lamps and cosy Victoriania, lots of tweed suits and woollen scarves, almost every episode beginning and ending with Holmes and Watson safe and cosy beside the fireplace. A generous sprinkling of mystery, spook, and shenanigans. Unparalleled vibes 😌
I really appreciate you recommending dark academia content that aren't just books because, although I love the idea of reading, I have Narcolepsy and will fall asleep with a book in hand in .2 seconds lol
I just watched When Harry Met Sally for the first time. I can't believe I'd not seen it! Also thanks for introducing me to Laid Back Camp. It's my jam now.
That’s how I felt when I watched it for the first time! I love their friendship so much 🧡 Aww yay! I’m so happy you enjoyed Laid-Back Camp! Sometimes I get nervous to recommend things I love because I worry that the person won’t enjoy it 🙈 so happy you liked it!
So many great suggestions! I bought Bradbury's The Halloween Tree and Something Wicked This Way Comes last Fall, but only got Halloween Tree read so I will definitely be reading Something Wicked this year. Can't wait! Now, 🤞 this weather starts cooling down soon 🐈⬛🎃🕯🍂🖤
My family and I have had picnics in our town's cemetery as long as I can remember. It's the oldest public cemetery in my state, situated along a river and it is so peaceful! Two of my grandparents are buried there and there is rarely a time where we don't stop by their gravestone and put little stones on it.
I am so inspired to do a readathon soon because of this! I've just downloaded Small Favors and The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter on my kindle and I'm going to wait until I've moved into my new house and have got my armchair all set up so I can have a cosy, Autumn, reading day
Subscribed! This is what I've been searching for for YEARS! Like, just the whole autumn vibe fills me with so much warmth and comfort. I feel the autumn endorphins kicking in! :)

Not only do i have the complete edition of Sherlock Holmes books i watched the entire series of Sherlock! So you mentioning my favorites makes me happy. The booms were given to me as a birthday gift this year!
The queen of autumn uploaded a video! I can never stop smiling when I'm watching your videos 💗 I'm so excited for all the content you planned for the fall season 🍂🕸🎃
I go absolutely autumn crazy with an autumn junk journal! There I can bask to my heart’s content with autumn themed collages, images, quotes, photos, coffee dyed paper, you name it! It is my happy place. I don’t have to please or impress anyone in it - it’s all mine!
If your an old soul like me a show you might like is Murder She Wrote staring Angela Lansbury! It’s so cute and each episode is a different murder and she’s a writer and it’s not scary it’s just cozy 🤎🤎🤎🤎
This video showed up at a perfect time for me. It's hard to have the cottagecore/autumnal mood here in Phoenix. Now I can create my own. Just subscribed and now going to binge watch your videos.

When Desi just pelts you with creative & charming autumn activities for four minutes straight, as if she could think of a million more if she had to 😍😍😍
This is one of my favorite videos of yours! I love all things autumn, the aesthetic, the movies, gilmore girls, pumpkin spice, brown leaves, cozy sweaters...I love the colour palette and all the autumn vibes! The thing is that here in Greece we still have crazy hot weather and autumn starts in the middle of October, but sometimes I ignore the temperature and do my thing! :)
I am still in summer mode, but when I get into the autumn mode, I would love to refer back to this. The book The Strange Case of the Alchemist's daughter really caught my eye as well as the movie Crimson Peak. I will still want to watch that with a friend though because I cannot handle anything spooky by myself. I love your tip/idea of just setting up an autumn corner instead of decorating your whole place so that it's a little bit easier. I will have to try that.
This is inspiring and lovely and very much something from the traditions in the US. Something new for me. In my part of the world autumn has not much to do with Halloween (we do not celebrate that) or scary things or pumpkins. I do not even know what "pumpkin spices" are. I will try to find out as it sound so delicious. Autumn here is being out in the big woods, it is bear hunt (not me), moose hunt (not me) and hearing the dogs in the woods. It is wood smoke from the chimneys in the village. It is foraging for wild berries and chopping wood for winter, preparing and preserving food, it is mist over the river and the swans gathering in big flocks to go south, and then, in mid October, it will probably snow. I thank you for all this inspiration. We will add something new to our Autumn this year, with pumpkin spices in it, anyone has a simple recipe to share? (If I can get hold of a pumpkin...)
I was gifted a tin of "pumpkin spices" last year and it was just a mix of spices usually used to bake sweets (like cinnamon, ginger...) I believe they are called pumpkin spices because they give great flavor to pumpkin sweets or drinks :-) might be wrong though.
New subscriber!!!! This video was amazing!!! Thank you so much!!!! I am crazy about fall. It’s literally my favorite season. It’s so nice to see others just as excited as I am about it.
Life just doesn't have to be serious all the time, serious stuff is boring, sometimes is ok to fell like a kid again.

If anybody has seen Scooby Doo The Witch’s Ghost movie, it feels like the perfect autumn Halloween feel. I love it soo much!
Oh man, the Hex Girls are on a whole other level…..I needed them to be a real band so freaking much when I was a kid!

I just watched When Harry Met Sally for the first time. I can't believe I'd not seen it! Also thanks for introducing me to Laid Back Camp. It's my jam now.
That’s how I felt when I watched it for the first time! I love their friendship so much 🧡
Aww yay! I’m so happy you enjoyed Laid-Back Camp! Sometimes I get nervous to recommend things I love because I worry that the person won’t enjoy it 🙈 so happy you liked it!
When you spoke about the movie Practical Magic l had to cry and cry and cry. One of my most favorite movies. Love them
So many great suggestions!
I've just downloaded Small Favors and The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter on my kindle and I'm going to wait until I've moved into my new house and have got my armchair all set up so I can have a cosy, Autumn, reading day
I agree that Gilmore girls is great to watch to get into that cozy autumn vibe🍁🍂🍄

A much needed starter pack as I shed summer and put on autumn 🍂
YESSSS! Is it crazy hot in the UK too? I'm over here in my sweaters, drinking hot cocoa as it's like 90/32 degrees outside 😬
I go absolutely autumn crazy with an autumn junk journal! There I can bask to my heart’s content with autumn themed collages, images, quotes, photos, coffee dyed paper, you name it! It is my happy place. I don’t have to please or impress anyone in it - it’s all mine!
Yes! My aunt and I would bring a picnic to the cemetery and clean the headstones. That place is so peaceful! ♡♡

Definitely Sherlock! One of my all-time favorite shows. The stories and acting are incredible.

When Desi just pelts you with creative & charming autumn activities for four minutes straight, as if she could think of a million more if she had to 😍😍😍
Yes! Clue is my favorite mystery movie ever! It’s so good!
It’s the perfect mix of mystery and comedy! 😃
Over the Garden Wall. That show is PEAK autumn vibes, worthy of a Double Chef's Kiss!!!
I LOVE when Harry met Sally. I like it for the Fall and Christmas/NYE vibes.
Yay! Another video from my Darling Desi! I love autumn too and everything it means and brings.
OMG… I absolutely LOVE Crimson Peak!!
I watched Laid Back Camp over the summer, and I concur on its greatness.
New subscriber!!!! This video was amazing!!! Thank you so much!!!! I am crazy about fall. It’s literally my favorite season. It’s so nice to see others just as excited as I am about it.
