    A magical video as always. Have you heard of the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery called Kintsugi? They make the repair using a lacquer mixed with gold powder thereby celebrating the break rather than attempting to hide it. I think there is something so powerful and beautiful about that. If we could do that with ourselves wouldn't it be transformative. Blessings from Wales

And everyone else has already said it, but I’ll say it too - your videos are worth waiting for. @@DarlingDesi I couldn't agree more! I'm from TX and the jump to Christmas is just hard for me when it's still so warm out, so I appreciate a slower transition. Dear Desi, I don't know if you'll ever see this comment in the sea of others, but I wanted to say anyway, that I think this is probably my favorite video you've ever made. I'm laying in my room in the middle of the night, with a cough and stuffed up nose from a cold, and I'm also chronically ill, and the last section of this video made me flat out cry. I have had so many hard times already in my young life, been struggling with mold illness for 5 years now, probably longer really, and so many times I have felt broken, defeated, and like there was no point to my existence because I am weak and delicate, and can't be very productive or fast about things a lot of the time either. But, I am still here, and you are right, just because you bow before the storm, doesn't make you weak, because only the trees that bend are still standing when the sun returns. And every time you survive another storm, you become wiser and stronger for it. It's so easy to forget that it actually takes strength and courage just to be, to get up and to continue on, when life is so hard sometimes. I am proud of you, and how strong you are, and I want to thank you for reaching out and touching my heart today, I needed it. Happiest November, and all the very best wishes for the future, for both of us. 💖

    I just turned 70 and I feel like I am 20. You have learned a very important lesson in life. It’s not the outcome that really matters at all but that you thoroughly enjoyed the process. You will find greater joy in life. I am an artist and I speak to many artists and they are frustrated that they can’t sell their paintings but they rush through them rather than enjoying the process and it really shows in the painting. I am not saying a painting has to be perfect at all but you can tell if someone put their heart in it. I love your candle holder all the more for the cracks and that you took the time to fix them made it more special. I love how you make the ordinary moments into something special. That’s the way we should all live. 🥰

    You're officially my therapist, I always say this as a joke but I truly feel better when I watch your videos. They give me piece and I feel like I have a purpose and I'm exciting to do things. I felt your words at the end very deeply. I often feel broken and useless and not productive enough, and while I could do more I also want to remind myself that it's okay, that I don't have to be productive all the time to be worthy. So a huge thank you to you Desi, your smile and your words always brighten up my day. Also, I loved the Little Women reenactment! 🥰🥰

    I really felt the last part of the video... At the moment I'm not feeling that great and I don't have the energy to do something for myself, because I'm feeling so tired all the time. Working full time, doing a bachelor degree beside it and my dad having cancer is too much lately. This was also a reminder for myself to make time to do the things I like. And to not feel guilty for not being ''productive''... Thank you ❤

The love and care that you put into every video is obvious. I imagine that all the different shots you have takes a ton of time, as does editing I'm sure. You're doing good Desi and you are certainly enough.

    I loved this so much, I shared it with my two bffs, and one of my sisters, because I want them to take 15 minutes of their day feeling as I did watching this: slow, relaxed, calm, happy, inspired to seek joy wherever and whenever I can, to be true to my core self, and to take in the reminder that nothing we ever enjoy doing is a waste of time if it doesn't yield the results we want. As a copyeditor, I've worked to deadline for 20 years, always pursuing the end. Only now am I really starting to learn to enjoy process over end result, and doing puzzles has helped me with it. Anyway, your content is so delightful, honest, joyful, humorous, and wondrous, as well as immersive and endearing, that I choose you over all the others. I don't care how often you post. Your quality is worth any wait, and each post is a treat. You are doing everything just right. xo Thank you.

There's plenty of time for Christmassy things. Last weekend we had our wedding celebration and I couldn't have picked a better month for it! It was so magical with the dark skies and the autumnal colours 🥰

    I love your candle mug. It's so sweet. Thank you for that kind message. It really landed for me. When my mom died three years ago... it shattered me. I keep finding pieces of myself and I'm trying to glue them back in place again. When I'm kind to myself the pieces stick but when I'm not the pieces don't. It's a work in progress. I was waiting for this! I had the same thought as soon as November 1st came around. Everyone’s talking about winter and Christmas and putting out decorations- but… it’s still autumn! November is such a beautiful month in its own right and it’s usually forgotten and invisible because everyone is in such a rush to be somewhere that, if we’re being honest, hasn’t even remotely gotten here yet. I saw someone post “40 sleeps until Christmas!” And I was like… that’s an entire month plus!! I love November where I live- a lot of the trees are still turning and are even more are at their peak colors, while many others have lost their leaves. The weather is so nice, everything is calm and quiet and there’s rainy days to comfort you and so much to look at before winter comes and everything is frozen and quiet and sleepy… Can we just enjoy the days we’re living as they come and not rush to a moment that WILL eventually get here anyway?

    Thank you for the broken clay story at the end. It was beautiful. It reminded me of the Japanese art Kintsugi where a piece of broken pottery is put back together and they mend the cracks with gold, making it more beautiful than before. I have a disability and chronic pain is a part of that but every day I thank God I am here and I have a purpose.

  • @ShakespearesLanguage
    @ShakespearesLanguage Рік тому

    Hi Desi, I'm not sure if someone has already told you but I wonder if you've ever heard of the Japanese art of kintsugi - basically it is the art of repairing broken pottery with gold or silver lacquer - it doesn't just fix the ceramics and make the breaks invisible, it draws attention to the broken places and highlights them and makes them beautiful, it shows that breaking and healing and repair are all a part of the history of something and not something we need to hide away. I write about this a lot as someone who also has chronic illness and it is a lovely way of thinking about life and bodies. Thank you for such a lovely video - also so nice to see Jared!

    Desi, don't worry about keeping up with all the other creators. The fact that you aren't currently able to churn out content quickly, whether intentional or not, actually fits the atmosphere of your channel. I come to your videos for a chance to slow down and breathe....a break from this hurry scurry life we live. And the fact that your videos aren't available regularly makes them that much more special...a treat to be savored. And if we had them all the time, well then they probably wouldn't be quite as special.😉Sending you loads of love and hugs and wishing you better health as we embark on another beautiful holiday season.💖

    My favourite part of this video is the end and your words about the broken clay. I personally prefer channels when the content isn't uploaded all the time or on a predictable day. Too much content takes away the novelty. A new video uploaded when I'm not expecting feels like a sweet special treat. I'm much more present when I watch and soak up all the beauty and goodness of it. I guess it's not great for the UA-cam algorithm, but there is something special about these types of videos. They exude warmth and love.

I have to say that in November particularly, I have these feelings, as the days darken earlier etc. It is a struggle. But we can come out of it by remembering that we are enough and that there is beauty in the simple things and that we just have to see it and appreciate it. Especially when it comes to ourselves.
