Luckily 2020 Si is the best of the 10th gen by far! LEDs, can see everything at night, and the wheels are much much better. All the upgrades have made it the most perfect Si yet! 36MPG with a 32 mile round trip to work, and morning drives are always spirited rushing to work lol best car I’ve driven other than a Type R. But Si blows it away with elegance and the MPG ;)
I totally agree about the shifter and clutch, the shifter is super cheap, lose and sometimes it wont go into 1st gear. Clutch is nice for a beginner but once you get used to it, it is a little too light.
I agree on the clutch. Too light. I like the shifter. Rev hang is bad. The worst feature of the car on my test drive was the turbo lag which I found unacceptable.
Love your content. You guys do excellent work and we definitely appreciate it. I didn't see any reviews of the Fiesta ST, and being that I own one and have been looking into the idea trading it for an si, I wonder what your opinion on the trade would be. Thanks for making the world a bit more entertaining.
Hate that you can't get HID/ LED headlamps like the Elantra Sport. Huge ommision on a modern car. Really appreciate the mechanical LSD which most of its more expensive competition doesn't even offer as an option. If only the Honda looked half way mature in styling

"I've never been one to care that much about what people think about me when driving a car." "I just drive the cars that I like." Exactly what a car lover means.
1000% Agree on the Rev Hang topic. Honda has had that problem since the 8th Gen Si's. And it keeps getting worse every new model year. The Honda tuning company HonData has a ECU/Re-flash that eliminates it so only a matter of time if its not already available for the new Si's /Type R's but the price tag on those Re-Flash/ECU's is kinda high if your solely focused on the Rev Hang but if you plan to modify the engine more extensively then its worth every penny and makes a huge difference in vehicle dynamics and performance. And yes the clutch feel is way to light, almost feels like your just pushing air. I don't even think a different clutch set would even make the feel any heavier, I kinda like a stiff clutch pedal anyways, I daily a twin-disc so I am used to a really tough pressure plate engagement.
es the rev-hang is very bad but...at the same time, Over the months it's become less annoying... It's weird and I haven't tried this on other Si (or other cars yet), but Letting off throttle BEFORE clutch in (even a split second before), Makes the rev's drop faster. Granted It can only drop so fast with a dual mass flywheel (Looking forward for a change in a few years to a single mass), but the big thing is that Computer "hang" or delay before it stops dropping, disappears or is minimized. My guess is that since the rev hang is more of an emissions thing, having zero engine load on the engine with the clutch in, it doesn't shut the throttle valve so quickly to prevent pressure spikes in the crankase. By Going throttle off before clutch in, you trick the ECU into thinking you want a true close throttle, and there's still load on the engine while it's still connected, so it doesn't apply the rev-hang procedure The only real time I notice rev hang now, is WOT pulls, but I've never really been smooth in any car doing that, and If i'm driving that aggressively I would probably get a ECU tuner to make some stuff more driveable anyways. Again if you are serious about performance driving with this car, ECU tuners are the way to go. but as a fun commuter, that little trick really does make things a lot smoother.
You should be able to tune out that rev hang with an aftermarket tune. Its through the ecu. A lot of modern turbos do it, im thinking emmisions related but not sure. Ive tuned it out of all the turbo cars ive owned
the proportions of the Si coming from the accord styling or even compared to the 4 door version looks way off.. the hood line is long enough it seems like a rear drive car with the back end missing off it
I think ill stick with a 9th gen Si if i can find one.this one has eliminated VTEC for stupid reasons. Did anyone forget that Honda placed a turbocharged VTEC engine in the first generation Acura RDX? Talk to me people..
Why does a trim called "sport injected" have to have a sport button? Why wouldn't it be in "sport mode" all the time? Let the driver determine if he/she wants to drive 'economically'. This car should be in sport mode all the time. Looking at the 4door model myself against the acoord sport...in 3 pedal guise
I have a 2019 SI. The throttle is definitely quicker in sport mode. An advantage of taking it off sport mode is for daily drive on a rough road where the softer suspension setting gives a little more cushion on the ride.
It's great if you are tuned. You can have 2 different maps. Also the suspension stiffens with sport. If you are driving on bumpy bad roads it's good to turn off sport. It's a good thing. I drive in sport 80% of the time
I disagree about the engine. I found the combination of the rev-hang and boost lag to be a deal breaker. When I test drove it I had zero power below 3500rpm.
Test drove the Si as well. Couldn't agree with you more on that clutch pedal! How does it compare to the Type R? I couldn't find your review. Btw, the clutch master cylinder from the Type R fits the Si. It'll probably give it a stiffer pedal feel.
The Type R feels basically exactly like the SI except a decent amount better in every measurable way. My review will be coming out hopefully next week. Its on the track too, so it should be a fun watch.
Pars S . It's ridiculously way too soft. I drive a 2014 BRZ, it's nice and firm. I hope this is something they address in the future. As far as rev hang, lead engineer mentioned it had to do with emissions.
lol rev hang it is called rev matching it is a feature purposely put in the car a lot of people like it cause it is better for racing which the SI is set up for
+The Meister no rev hang is when the revs take too long to fall between gears. Nothing to do with rev matching. You as a driver match the revs when you downshift by blipping the throttle.
lol you do not know shit E46 do your research it is a known fact that Honda has added what is called a rev matching feature so do your research before you speak! lmao call Honda they will tell you. it is a feautre they also have on the Honda Civic Type R
+The Meister I know. I've driven the type R as well. But sadly, you are wrong. "Rev hang" is the result of emissions programming to keep the throttle body open longer for a more complete burn. This causes the revs the "hang" between UP shifts. " auto Rev matching" is totally different. That's what Honda programmed into the type R to help people who don't know how to downshift. And no, the Si or the Type R are NOT for "racing" lol.
it is for shifting smother so you do not get jerking when changing gears I have been building these kind of cars for over 12 years be a man and admit when your wrong! like I said call Honda they will tell you and any true Honda fan will also tell you!
here is the link from Honda scroll down to the transmission and you will see the rev matching feature. lol hondanews.com/releases/a323beb5-01a9-4e6e-a267-0291e9ac1065
If you don't heal-toe, which is completely useless outside of the racetrack, the rev-hang isn't so bad.. Also, there's aftermarket stuff to program the computer to get rid of it, it it's a big problem. If your racing off the light, you just have to switch a fraction of a sec early to compensate for the hang.
I dont even understand the above comment. As OP said its upshift not down. Literally 0 impact on downshift. Plus there is no way to get rid of it...thata why it sucks
I timed your rolling start from 8km to 80km and got 6.04second. Not bad, I think my 6spd 2.0LX can do it in about 7sec. Might not be important for track guys, but in city, its where all the action happens.
The interior is poorly designed back seat is nothing but just cushion and where they put the cup holder that is dumb and why would they put Hondalind watch back on it.. They should I just used a blindspot marner...
I wish there was an automatic si.. though you can still flash the ones with the CVT to be faster than the si with like 220whp.. but from what i hear the CVT wouldn't be good to push past 260 or so, so there's less potential down the line.
JL T I am a poor college student that doesn't want an Acura (more expensive and more expensive parts - won't be getting this civic si but I would get one in theory. I like lexus better for luxury anyways but that's just me
I get that, it just seems that the civic left so much off of the car...manual instead of automatic dual clutch, smallish 1.5L engine, cheeper wheels, down graded interior, etc... that comparing cost, the civic price should be much less if they can put so much into an Acura and... I really haven't accepted a small turbo engine will be a good replacement for larger 2.4L normally aspirated engines.
I'm glad you looked at the vblog comment. I think you mean why would someone pay $28k when they can buy the same car for $24K. The civic SI is drastically different from the ILX. The ILX has a much higher cost (8 speed-dual clutch) and some would say far superior transmission. Buyers need to look hard at the value of the interior and exterior upgrades on the ILX. But the most important point is the 2.4L engine in the ILX. The SI only has a 1.5L turbo that makes the same Horsepower. Why buy a down graded Honda with a smallish 1.5L engine that needs to be tubo-charged to make the same power as a very durable VTEC 2.4L naturally aspirated engine. Remember the ILX has paddle shifters so the manual on the SI is not an advantage. Just buy the ILX and ignore the Honda SI.
I'm glad more writers are exposing the clutch pedal feel in these cars. It's way too light and very vague. You cannot feel it grab at all. This was the deciding factor in why I didn't buy this car. It ruined the driving experience for me completely.
i love everything about my si no complaints at all, this is just what u dont like, to each their own, i literally stopped watching ur video when u started to complain about the shifter and clutch smh its good for daily not a race car
The Accord Sport also had terrible rev hang. That kept me out of one. My 17 Camaro SS 6M drops revs immediately. You may have saved me from test driving this Si as badly as I want to.... Unless the Hondadata flash can kill the revhang. Otherwise, I'm thinking hard about a GTI S 6M. They're dealing on those here in NC.
It's a whole different engine. Which everyone knows Honda really underrated for sake of the type r.. dude almost 30 more hp and torque from just a flash tune is actually pretty dam good. Not to mention the handling is a whole lot better in the X gen..

I have a 2020 Si Coupe. 100% agree with you on the rev hang. I hate it. I love the car and I love driving the standard transmission but the rev hang makes it a pain in the ass. I'm gonna get that disabled someday and I can't freaking wait. Other than the rev hang though, I love the car.
Great attention to detail!
I totally agree about the shifter and clutch, the shifter is super cheap, lose and sometimes it wont go into 1st gear. Clutch is nice for a beginner but once you get used to it, it is a little too light.
For the record "lane watch" camera is not "blind spot" camera. Good review, thank you!
Still good. Still good.
Great point on the performance gap between the SI and Type R VS the base hatch and SI

I agree on the clutch. Too light. I like the shifter. Rev hang is bad. The worst feature of the car on my test drive was the turbo lag which I found unacceptable.
Sergio Aguirre also this guy is experiencing turbo lag on a 1.5t lmao. He doesn't know sjit
Very little Turbo lag on my 18 SI.
Ever sit in heavy traffic with heavy clutch for a long period of time? It's not fun.
The 2017 Civic Si comes standard with the LED headlights....
Not in the US...
2019 Sports sedan is about to be released. Hope you get your hand one and get your take on it vs Si.
I left the Honda game in 2005 and so much has changed, I’m getting the blue si sedan tmrw. If I flash with hondata will the motor be able to handle it long term?? I’m looking at the +6 psi
By Going throttle off before clutch in, you trick the ECU into thinking you want a true close throttle, and there's still load on the engine while it's still connected, so it doesn't apply the rev-hang procedure
The only real time I notice rev hang now, is WOT pulls, but I've never really been smooth in any car doing that, and If i'm driving that aggressively I would probably get a ECU tuner to make some stuff more driveable anyways.
I do agree with the shift feel, ie rev hang and cheap feel.
coming to austria too?
Will hondata ruin your warranty
the proportions of the Si coming from the accord styling or even compared to the 4 door version looks way off.. the hood line is long enough it seems like a rear drive car with the back end missing off it
You should drive a Porsche...heavy clutch and cable linked shifter.....
So the question is... Civic si or fiesta st?
I think ill stick with a 9th gen Si if i can find one.this one has eliminated VTEC for stupid reasons. Did anyone forget that Honda placed a turbocharged VTEC engine in the first generation Acura RDX? Talk to me people..
So Canada Si gets led headlights?
and nav
And turbo livery
Good ol city of Guelph
still waiting for that 330i engine review.....how it compares to the 325 and how much the swap cost you (if it's not a secret)?
+Dexon yep. Should be coming soon. I'll be saving some vlogs like that to keep you folks entertained over the winter.
civic si, focus st, fiesta st, or gti? why?
Why do they offer the 2 litter in base model lx and only have the 1.5 for the si?
NeATaNDtURdy
The 2 liter is NA.. the 1.5 is turbo..
Maybe u dont want sport mode if you're just cruising to work on the freeway.
@Konos44
It's not huge difference but the throttle response feels quicker to me in Sport Mode on my 18 SI.
I drive in sport 80% of the time
The button is on the left stock
I disagree about the engine. I found the combination of the rev-hang and boost lag to be a deal breaker. When I test drove it I had zero power below 3500rpm.
Learn how to drive, no boost lag on my 18 SI and PLENTY of torque BEFORE 3,500rpms.
It worth 6 thousands more for the HFP version?
Nope
Did you find the lane watch? It's on the indicator stalk.
Interesting comments about the shifter, thanks for that.
is this in canada? cuz the si in the states doesnt led lights
marc07112 yes, Canadian Si. Love them on my Aegean Blue Si sedan
I'll do 4hrs non-stop in Toronto's Downtown traffic on a daily basis, I prefer the light clutch. I don't want my left leg to be like schwartzenegger..
Pars S . It's ridiculously way too soft. I drive a 2014 BRZ, it's nice and firm. I hope this is something they address in the future. As far as rev hang, lead engineer mentioned it had to do with emissions.
Pars S, I agree. I do a lot of in town stop and go driving and I love the clutch in this car.
What's the ¼ mile time for a stock 2017/2018 Civic si
Car and Driver says 14.8 seconds. 0 to 60 in 6.3 seconds.
who hasa netter shifter?
based on your comments who hasa better shifter
+jay czyzyk i actually don't mind the new Mazda shifters. But if we are taking any car, then Miata. The Mx5 is one of the best. And the S2000
E46 Reviews with T.H. I've driven the mx5 it's red civic is a fwd big difference in setup
The shifter isn’t gated
Sub-200 torque is considered good? They added a turbo and 20psi to get that?
+Cababah you're right it's not that much. But it's available really down low in the rev range.
Cababah and it's light
E46 Reviews with T.H. I get that...just seems like Honda held back a little too much with the Si powertrain. *shrug*
Cababah they could have bumped up the power to 230 hp and 215 torque lol well atleast hondata is out there
Cababah got the flashpro for 17' si... added the +9 psi tune... now have 231whp and 272 tq. Problem solved with just a tune
If it was 210hp I be ok with it
Shifts are crisp but bounces????? Wtf lmao
AND IM JAMES
TRUE BEAUTY!!!
lol rev hang it is called rev matching it is a feature purposely put in the car a lot of people like it cause it is better for racing which the SI is set up for
+The Meister no rev hang is when the revs take too long to fall between gears.
And no, the Si or the Type R are NOT for "racing" lol.
it is for shifting smother so you do not get jerking when changing gears I have been building these kind of cars for over 12 years be a man and admit when your wrong! like I said call Honda they will tell you and any true Honda fan will also tell you!
here is the link from Honda scroll down to the transmission and you will see the rev matching feature. lol
hondanews.com/releases/a323beb5-01a9-4e6e-a267-0291e9ac1065
if only the rev hang didnt wreck the driving experience
If you don't heal-toe, which is completely useless outside of the racetrack, the rev-hang isn't so bad.. Also, there's aftermarket stuff to program the computer to get rid of it, it it's a big problem. If your racing off the light, you just have to switch a fraction of a sec early to compensate for the hang.
Rev hang is annoying on UP shifts not downshifts
I dont even understand the above comment. As OP said its upshift not down. Literally 0 impact on downshift. Plus there is no way to get rid of it...thata why it sucks
he is saying if you got a ECU tune you could program the rev hang out. Honda made it rev hang to improve emissions so prolly blame Cali fer that =P
I timed your rolling start from 8km to 80km and got 6.04second. Not bad, I think my 6spd 2.0LX can do it in about 7sec. Might not be important for track guys, but in city, its where all the action happens.
Yo tengo uno y me encanta. Es lo último
The interior is poorly designed back seat is nothing but just cushion and where they put the cup holder that is dumb and why would they put Hondalind watch back on it.. They should I just used a blindspot marner...
Can u explain why this SI got Led headlights and when i look online all of them got halogen headlights ?
Nick Name, this is Canadian Version. They also get embedded Navigation.
I wish there was an automatic si.. though you can still flash the ones with the CVT to be faster than the si with like 220whp.. but from what i hear the CVT wouldn't be good to push past 260 or so, so there's less potential down the line.
Eileen the Crow
Not to mention the 1.5t in the Si has lower compression.. ppl keep assuming it's the exact same engine, but it's really not..
When I look at the 2017 Acura ilx 2.4, 201 hp at $28,000 base model, I don't get why someone would pay $24,000, base model, for an civic si???
Who wouldn't want to pay an extra 4k to get a slower, bland styling, less responsive car with worse gas mileage? Beats me.
I'm glad more writers are exposing the clutch pedal feel in these cars. It's way too light and very vague. You cannot feel it grab at all. This was the deciding factor in why I didn't buy this car. It ruined the driving experience for me completely.
日本でも販売してほしいです。
タイプRよりいい
i love everything about my si no complaints at all, this is just what u dont like, to each their own, i literally stopped watching ur video when u started to complain about the shifter and clutch smh its good for daily not a race car
The shifter feels like a toy 🧸
No vtec???? nahhhh!!!!
Thats me having fun i dont like the shifter i dont like the clutch but i will be really happy to auto cross it ,, what really man
hes just smashing on
the techs and specs.annoying...
orangefirepearl FK8 fck him if he don’t like the shifter
The Accord Sport also had terrible rev hang. That kept me out of one. My 17 Camaro SS 6M drops revs immediately. You may have saved me from test driving this Si as badly as I want to.... Unless the Hondadata flash can kill the revhang. Otherwise, I'm thinking hard about a GTI S 6M. They're dealing on those here in NC.
No vtech just like a regular civic
It's a shame that it's such an ugly looking car.
They increased the price of this car by $2,000 and nothing has changed, in fact the previous gen is way better!
You nothing about cars if you think nothing has changed
It's a whole different engine. Which everyone knows Honda really underrated for sake of the type r.. dude almost 30 more hp and torque from just a flash tune is actually pretty dam good. Not to mention the handling is a whole lot better in the X gen..
