Looking back at this review just reminds me how much better this 10th gen Civic Si looks than the 11th gen Civic Si. So sad Honda got rid of the Coupe body style.
I've had mine for a year now & 18k miles.....I easily get in the 40's MPG even if you hammer it . The little 1.5T is an amazing engine that manages to pack a potent punch for its size and is amazingly stingy on gas. If you daily, I recommend the Si over the Type R. I had every intention on buying the Type R but having owned Si's in the past, I knew this would be all the performance I realistically needed for a daily. The performance potential of the Type R would never be realized driving on the street. The Si is perfect and a bargain to boot.
I had a 2020 Si Coupe for about 2 and a half years. Traded it in for a 2023 WRX. I agree with you on the shifter being hot in the summer. That shifter gets hot as fuck in the summer. Burned my hand on multiple occasions on that shifter. I wasn't a big fan of that shifter. That's one thing I like about my WRX is the shifter doesn't get as hot in the summer. I don't like the shifter the Si comes with and I absolutely hate the stock tune the car comes with. The rev hang in these cars is atrocious. One of the reasons I got rid of mine. Other than that, it's a nice car.
I have detailed a couple of these cars at my job, and I have to say, making these cars lot ready is a pleasure, the transmission shifts well with its smooth clutch, I was able to make it crawl fairly easily, really nice car.
I find either volume control works just fine. As for the radio tuning, there are presets. Who listens to more than a couple stations anyway, especially with carplay? Turning the right knob controls fan speed without having to press the climate button.
SAM!!!!!! Great review! LOVE this car and I will certainly be my next purchase! One thing I was hoping to get your take on was the clutch smoothness. Some other reviews have complained about it. What do you think?
I had a 2020 Si Coupe for about 2 and a half years. Clutch itself is smooth. Easy to work. The car is not smooth when shifting gears though due to the atrocious rev hang.
There must be something wrong with that car or he is not using premium fuel as recommended cuz mine gets an average mpg of 34-37 and on a long trip low 40s. As for power WTH is he talking about!? For a four banger this car has more than average power delivery. This is the easiest small engine manual transmission car I have ever driven and I have driven many. As for the radio he is right on,,,,,,it sucks. Other than that I passed up a low mile cayman just to buy this car. FYI- other rigs I own now,,,,,Corvette, Raptor gen 2, HD Ram 3500 Diesel 4x4 four door dually, Outback 3.6, Ram 2500 Diesel 4x4 , Chev 3500 dually. This Civic SI is the perfect car for little money, it’s very inexpensive maintenance, insurance, fuel costs yet still tons of fun, easy for anyone to drive and park in those crowed little parking spaces out there now. (You should try parking a Raptor or dually) We have several rigs to pick from yet the wife and I are always fighting over who gets to take the Honda on those little errands.
Jose Rivera I don't think it's that bad either. I could get use to it. It's just auto writers and consumers complain about the lack of knobs all the time that I didn't think he would enjoy the driving dynamics enough that he would own one. It seems that bad infotainment systems can ruin a car nowadays.
true but it can be a safety issue, as you fiddle with the slider, try to change the ac thru menus, try to tune using up and done clicker, no spare tire, just fix a flat but no blow out, bad headlights at night, car start button not working all the time, ebrake not working all the time, something the old one always did, all of those together can drive some people nuts or scare them away in the name of safety and coveinence.
Sounds like the electronics in this car are plentiful and problematic. The hot shifter made me laugh. You're the second auto critic I've seen to mention that issue.
Too much pushing the touch screen. Too many layers to adjust things. Very unsafe when driving forcing eyes off the road. Combination of tech geeks design without concern for atttention to the road
a real parking brake no this is a biggie spare tire no this is a biggie volume and tune knobs no this is a biggie rear center armrest no hvac physical controls no top six radio presets physical knobs no hid or led headlight option no this is a biggie coupe based on a reliable sedan under $30 k the only one in the usa manual one of the best looks ok i prefer the ninth and 8th gen coupes a great review of a great car for the price.
You have to wonder about long term reliability and durability with an engine that you have to push so hard most of all time, and with the turbo also, it may be best just to lease it.
pedro fernandez What are you going on about? I bought this car after looking at a low mile cayman the same price. Why,,,,,,because the Honda has so much more low end torque and was much cheaper maintenance and actually more comfortable.
No but I thought manuals were so awesome, and its so great that Honda only made this car manual, and save the manual, and manual blahblahblahblah manual-blahhhh, and you have to shift after 2 nd gear which makes the 0-60 times slower, and the rev's hang, and theres no auto rev matcher, and the pedals are awkward for hell toeing, but manuals are soooo awesomeeeee, save the manuals !!! So yeah, that is all crap that you wouldn't have to deal with and worry about (in addition to shifting your own gears of course) with a good dual clutch automatic transmission. PS: That puked up Mountain Dew color green is hideous.
In real world driving, having to up shit in order to kiss 60mph is completely useless. The fact that engineer didn't make the 1st and 2nd gear bigger to accommodate the useless 60mpgh time, indicated a focus on drive ability vs track time.
Looking back at this review just reminds me how much better this 10th gen Civic Si looks than the 11th gen Civic Si. So sad Honda got rid of the Coupe body style.
Still looks better than the Type R

Nice colour

Got a 2018 coupe in this green. Looks the same up to 2019. 2020 got the change.

Very good review. Used this when deciding on my Si. Great car, love my Si coupe
Thanks. Love your reviews... You're fabulous!
Planet Fabulous you must be lonely

Drinking game... take a drink every time he says the word "here"
That's a beautiful car.
Thank you for the informative and fair review! Love my Si!
well done
SAM!!!!!! Great review! LOVE this car and I will certainly be my next purchase! One thing I was hoping to get your take on was the clutch smoothness. Some other reviews have complained about it. What do you think?
Ryan M. I have detailed a couple of them at my job, the clutch is pretty smooth, real easy to work, better than the manual in a kia soul

Great job
You said the F bomb! Nice! People needs to get their windows tinted when purchasing this car.
Terrance Moore or replace the shift knob
No spare, no sale.
You wouldn't buy the car because it doesn't have a friggin SPARE?? You can BUY ONE!!
This or GTI or Mustang GT or Camaro v6 manual?

Did you get it
9:53 is the best part :) Great review.
Clint Morrow no, it's at 10:02 😂

Sam, I have that same shirt.
"5 out of 5 staaaaars"
How was the power delivery to you Sam? Does it come available with any kind of diff or torque vectoring?..Great video by the way...
Big back seat for a coupe...
Nice jeans!
Fuel efficiency 3stars ???? It gets 38 mpg 😂
I'm guessing that you won't be making a review of the regular Civic sedan or hatchback.
Just depends on if Honda provides us one or not. We don't choose what we get from the automakers.
A vehicle with no volume or tuning knob made the I'd Buy It List?
Its not that bad. What bugs me is the volume control on the steering wheel is touch sensitive and I end up accidentally changing volume
Yeah that sounds like a real deal breaker to me !
Jose Rivera I don't think it's that bad either. I could get use to it. Don't fall for the R type, the SI is the trick out model

I have had 1 civic, wasn't the si, and was a great car.
Lets goo!!!
Do Civic vs BRZ
You gave them a 🌟. No spare tire no 🌟.

a great review of a great car for the price.
problem with push button start? problem getting E brake to release? UNACCEPTABLE! can you imagine dealing with that, and this is a NEW CAR !!
You have to wonder about long term reliability and durability with an engine that you have to push so hard most of all time, and with the turbo also, it may be best just to lease it.
