- Michael Alig, the subject of the movie "Party Monster," went to prison for murdering a friend in NYC in 1996. Alig sits down with Matt Doran to talk about life after prison, living sober and the importance of dedicating one' life to help other people.
Sadly Michael Alig did NOT stay sober. Died of a drug overdose in December 2020. A very sad ending.
All these years later, and he has never shown any regret. So many people here practically worshipping him, yet he killed and dismembered another human over drugs and money. Yeah, he did time, but still no regret. What a power trip and self absorbing person.
Wendis World How do you know he doesn't regret it? Because he is smiling in photos and videos? Does he have to be a sobbing mess constantly and scream how sorry he feels? Only Michael himself knows how regretful he feels. He is a human being like you and me. He spent his time in prison and just wants to live his life now. So let him. He isn't a monster. I'm not denying the fact that what he did was horrible but Freeze was involved too and no ones is giving him any shit. It's just Michael who gets stuff like "kill your self." Etc. Michael deserves a second chance. So just let him live, okay?
Its not about worshipping him, its about people, who have maybe done a lot of drugs, been in situations where things happen that can see things from a different perspective. You are not who you really are when you are doing drugs, you do not think clearly, sanely. I see a man who did his time, the actual murder was done in self defense, the psychosis of drugs then allowed him to do the rest. I am not a huge fan. He gives me anxiety the all over the place talking. But I agree, Freeze did the same thing, actually was the one who hit Angel over the head and no one harrasses him. None of us were there, none of us are in Micahels head, I do not know what or how he feels. But it is not my place to continue to punish him for something he already paid his time for. I like to believe people change, if this isn't true then God help me because I did some bad stuff when I was in my addiction. But I got clean, paid for my crimes and moved on. Living to the best of my ability.
They are very shallow self absorbed people. Micheal didn’t like Angel called him a poser and they hated posers. He used Angel for his drugs until Angel had enough and wanted his money and Micheal kills him. He joked about it afterwards. Told people he done it and who cares. He was horrible . He never was sorry not one minute still isn’t , you’re right on that. It’s all about me me me not ever saying a thing about angel and being sorry. It’s sad but you have people that don’t care here is one of them.

Back in his late teens & twenties there was a place for his way of living where he thrived nicely. Flash forward 2016, the fifty something year old, clearly has no realistic contingency plan; simply Magical Thinking.
His NYC Art/party filled second chapter turned up zeros & ended in an OD. As sad as the MA, AM saga is both adults chose a way of living which rarely ends well. They played/plied a rough trade & involved themselves in their own drug fueled fantasy worlds. More importantly, they both fell victim to their own CK hype, RIP.

I hope what he is saying is true, because the only person he would be cheating or hurting would be himself. Further note, yes probally the drugs he was on did cloud his clear thinking that day of the murder but you also have to think about he did not go out and go on a murder spree because of drugs or go out and harm people because of the drugs he was on. It seems there was more to play between him and the guy who got murdered. Drugs and money were a major part of the argument and tragic outcome. It's just a sad story, a life lost and another imprisoned for making very bad decisions . Due to the sickness of a toxic mix of addiction.
Been rewatching the Peeew videos looking for clues to sociopathology (none) narcissism(wee bit), I have drifted from cynicism towards trust in Michael. His choices and honesty only make sense when you take him at his word that he is working for the greater good. No one would accuse me of being a pushover.
Look I'm not excusing the behaviour, but if any human being were to be put in a similar situation of complete dissociation from reality, both through lifestyle and excessive drug use, and they were lead to a point of being desperately careless, I can see accidents happening.
What he did was sick but it's inevitable that fucked up shit happens in fucked up situations. Drugs very much alter a persons ability of clear perception and choice making.
I feel that whatever shit he spews now, true or not, it's beside the point. He's just too old to cause harm, and I feel has paid his dues for living a misguided youth.

Michael repays him by killing him because he didn't have the money and was never going to pay ANgel back, to begin with..He was needing drugs bad that night ANgel wouldn't give him anymore without money so Michael kills him and while Angel is in Michaels tub dead, Michael is doing the drugs ANgel had on him..I tell ya anyone who believes this compulsive lying loser deserves a person like this in their life. Michael has never apologized for what he has done. He has said nothing to ANgels family or brother that looks exactly like Angel..He has no remorse because he is a psychopath..that's quite obivious.F U Michael you make me sick!

Then Alig mocked them by putting out thousands of party invitations w a bloodied, bashed, head and hammer pictured. The Australian interviewer forgot to ask if Michael has been able to crack a tinny, wear his thongs and save his baby from a dingo.
Had Angel pushed his way into a home in Texas and began beating a guest then threw the homeowner into a glass cabinet, they could have shot him and never gone to jail. They even called the police that night and no one believed them. It's not murder, its death and then a poor handling of the aftermath. He did 17 years. Enough.
Actually there is a case of an elderly vet who shot two burglars (with ABSOLUTE proof they were indeed burglars) and went to prison. Why? Cause he waited days to call police and was recorded dehumanizing these people. He knew them.
If that's all Michael did it would be one thing. Most people aren't mad because he killed Angel, they're mad he cut him up, tossed him like trash and spent weeks LAUGHING about it. I understand why Angel died...I don't understand anything past that.

Lyn Kayee - yes I remember the case you are referring to.... the final outcome for that particular case was absolutely ridiculous. It still baffles me as to how he got any jail time at all for defending himself and his home from intruders?!

Y’all think he is sober here? Just look at the eyes!! He ain’t sober!! I’m a recovering addict myself and you just know that look. You can’t help but know it when you see it cause you looked at yourself everyday when you were on whatever it was. You know the actions you know the talk. I mean it’s sad he had what 17 years of being sober just to get out and start it up again. Now that I don’t get.. He had plenty of time to reflect . He had to see how bad drugs got him down to the point of murdering a man . Thinking of those times be scary enough for me to keep me clean. Remembering the life of having to have something just to function is enough for me. It’s one hell of a bad life. It’s hard not easy by no means . Ernie Glam tried helping him after prison but Micheal just wouldn’t work and was doing drugs almost immediately. To where they were hardly doing the show and finally Ernie had to break away from him. He loved Micheal and he tired but he couldn’t save him. Now Micheal is dead from overdosing and I never liked him but I do feel sorry for him. Bad as I didn’t like him I wish he would had done better for himself once he got out. He had friends he had help but he wanted to keep doing drugs and not work. This was said by Ernie Glam after Micheal’s death so it’s not something I’m just saying out my azz.. I really wish Micheal would had beaten his demons but I guess the guy just had to many..

We are all a little bit of everything, except the murdering part. I think that you have to have that in you to do that. And after that happens, people will only see that part of you because its something you can't come back from. You took someone's life away.
