Scotty I have a 2008 Pathfinder with about 176,000 miles. Just got told that the cooling line cracked/leaked/broke forget exactly my mechanic said it fried my computer and transmission. I have been watching your videos for a few months now and I know you have said that Nissan transmissions are junk. My mechanic said the same thing but it is paid for and in this state of the country I really can’t afford a car payment. What do you think this is going to cost me if I pull the trigger on it. He made it clear that mechanical wear will not trip trouble codes, because the software writers (employed by the manufacturers) have written the parameters for conditions that will trip codes sufficiently wide, so that substandard performance has to be really substandard before any scantool, no matter how expensive, will actually show that a code-tripping condition exists. utilizing “new technology” like adding a neodmndym magnet inside the pan makes a HUGE difference!! new fluid cleans, and those micro steel particles floating around in the high pressure fluid can settle in some very bad places. the super magnet catches absolutely everything, and it will never break free and accumulate anywhere. the metal paste will go right past any filter + it keeps the filter and flow free. use a 1 x 3/4 x 1/4 magnet

Solid info your sharing out there scotty. I have a 08 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 5.3L and bought it new. I've kept it up supreeeemley. It has aaaaaalways shifted hard, about 65% of the time from 1-2nd. I recently had the transmission fully rebuilt, falsely diagnosed due to droning noise from the exhaust; 3 mechanics later... It was upgraded with heavy duty clutch and ring kits, etc. Still runs great. 181,000m. Still has that jerk 1st - 2nd. Just sayin.

I have a 2012 gmc sierra with the L20 4.8l, and the 4L60 trans. I noticed a "clunk" shift if I slowed for a corner then accelerated just right. I'm the original owner, it was a new vehicle, I took it to the dealer, they test drive it and after I explained, the mechanic knew exactly what I was talking about. He said it was just a quirk of this trans and there was no issue and gmc just hadn't bothered to fix it. 5 years later the truck is running beautifully.

Once the vehicle gets up to temp and I restart the truck it shifts normal. When the temp is warmer outside it shifts just fine. Even from a cold start. It’s weird.

Shift solenoids can cause intermittent issues as they are coils the windings break down the core insulation breaks down and they can be stressed thermally. Wire connections both power and grounds can be intermittent as they stress from age and fatigue.. The way to diagnose mechanical wear is to put pressure gauges in the line taps and check.

They haven't made a really good transmission since the 350, 375B, and 400. It's pretty bad when the guy with the Ford 4r70w has a stronger trans than the typical 4l60e, LoL. I'd bet most Dodge A500 and 518's were better, and that's not saying much until about 99 when Dodge upgraded the internals. I'm not really a fan of any of them..from the factory.
