  • Eminem dissed his mother so bad, she sued him, and not for an insignificant amount either. Eminem's mom sued him for $10m, with the lawsuit eventually succeeding, although not for the amount that Debbie Mathers initially expected. This event had come after the time Eminem got sued by his childhood bully, marking just one of the many times Marshall Mathers got sued.
This is, The Time Eminem Got Sued By His Own Mother.

You obviously don't have kid(s) that you love unconditionally. Or you'd understand. My shoes were literally falling apart before I finally bought some. Why? Because I'd rather provide for my child and go without. And I did.
I didn't say that buying things means I love my child. I provided more than enough & bought things BECAUSE I love my child. Not to prove it. I didn't need to prove it to anyone.
I just loved providing for my child. You'd get that if you had a child you loved unconditionally.

Parents who raise kids with toxic parenting don't see what they did. The excuse "I went without so he could have whatever he wanted" is the exact same thing my mother said to me. My mother mentally and sometimes physically abused me, but thought she was the best mom because she bought me things. Obviously we will never know how his childhood was, she clearly did something to him during his childhood to make him hate her this much.

Even interviewing siblings is unreliable, because sometimes they will spoil one kid and neglect the other, then make it out as if they went above and beyond.
The ones that had it relatively good don't see the struggle or are conditioned to not speak up about it because they don't want to lose the favor.

She had her problems in the past but she always made sure me and my brother had food and clean clothes as well as comfortable living. Sure that's bare minimum but even as an addict she would still try to care for us. I resented her for my parent's divorce for a long time but in the end, I know she was just sick and needed help. I'm thankful that she finally got help and that it was me and my brother that make her want to get clean. She ain't perfect but she definitely tried.

I had a manipulative mother and I have to say his story is eerily relatable. I'm 100% on the side of Eminem. The way his mother went about things, trying to save her reputation, was very similar to how my mom would go around making sure everyone knew her side of the story, and trying to invalidate anything the actual victim said. She would try to get sympathy by playing victim and treat everyone trying to help her like shit, just like how his mom treated her lawyer. I'm sad that he went back to her in the end because I know the manipulation tactics used by people like her is what made him go back. It's the same as having an abusive ex that you keep going back to. I just hope that one day he'll have the strength and will power to cut her off completely

As a child psychologist, I wish society would recognise abusive parenting exists. Although Eminem managed to reach his dreams, he still has scars from the things his own mother did. Most adults today are struggling with issues caused by parents who treated them as some kind of burden or solution. We are taught that we should be grateful to be born or have basic needs but nobody remembers that we didn't ask to be born or get to choose our parents. We were all just dragged into existence and forced to deal with everything life threw at us . "How could you do this to your own mother" (e.g. cutting off contact) no longer applies if the said parent has crossed some very serious lines, multiple times. You owe nothing and you have already done your best job by just surviving your upbringing. Some people get dealt shitty cards in life (putting congenital disorders and horrible parents on the same level) and I hope you've accepted it and living the best life you can.

Yep my grandmother is upset with me because I don’t want to change my name back to my maiden name and will instead use my middle name once my divorce is finalized. The thought of carrying on that name and giving it to my second child that’ll be born in a few months makes me sick to my stomach because I associate it with my abusive and neglectful father. Instead of understanding where I’m coming from. She sees me as a villain for it and thinks I’m forsaking my grandfather (who was a saint but I just don’t associate it with him like that) and my family (who watched the abuse and neglect take place and did nothing to help me while abusing their own children in different ways) and she wants me to just “put it in the past and rise above it”. She doesn’t understand that changing my name is my final step towards healing and doing just that. It’s depressing to be the villain of the story when you’re simply trying to escape the actual villain. I’m deeply traumatized and damaged from my parents’ abuse but I’m supposed to just let it all go and forget it simply because “tHeY’rE fAmIlY”.

      @ZombieSazza 2 роки тому +43

Honestly she sounds like my mum lol. Those of us who want nothing to do with our mums were abused children who’ve been left with permanent psychological issues as adults.
I really don’t believe his mum, and I’m questionable about his half brother. My own bio brother is my mothers favourite, she made that obvious by enabling him to violently beat me, the homophobia, weaponising my disabilities, he would tell the world she was a great mother and I’ve no reason for cutting contact for nearly a decade, and she will play the narcissistic martyr. Thing is, I’ve a folder of evidence that says otherwise, from hospital reports to things they’ve said themselves, proof of theft, eye witnesses from childhood of the violence, eye witnesses from adulthood of the ableism, but that doesn’t matter to the two of them because in their eyes, she’s a perfect mother and could do no wrong.
So I’m extremely skeptical of his mother and younger brother, he could’ve been favoured and sheltered from her awful behaviour, maybe I’m biased being a child abuse survivor, but it’s extremely plausible.
It’s the narcissism, neglect is totally fine, my own mother was so neglectful that I had to raise my brother as if he were my own child from about age 12 (she just didn’t want the responsibility of parenting but wanted to be a mum? Yeah idk), I had to make sure he was fed, clothed, our bills paid so we had shelter, she went off and partied, brought random men to the house and loudly had seggs not caring if we heard, she would constantly have random men round because she couldn’t be single for more than a week and relied on them for money. So to a narcissist it’s insulting being called out for your abuse, but neglect, ableism, violence, theft, not only enabling your son but encouraging him to dish out those violent beatings (because in her eyes “I didn’t hit you so I’m not abusing you”), that’s all totally okay.
Narcissists can’t handle being called out on their behaviour. My mother only tried contacting me after I cut contact near a decade ago to harass me, to threaten me, to scream at me, there were no apologies over her once again weaponising my disabilities against me (PTSD & cPTSD, cripple with mobility issues, bedridden disabled) to the point she tried withholding my meds from me, she’d invited herself to my home with no warning and tried pulling that behaviour, then was angry I found my meds (I’m in constant pain, I NEED those meds for my nerve damage), and I’d had enough.
So she drove home (I’m Scottish highlands, she lives Scottish Borders near England) and texted saying
“That’s me arrived home, late because there was a road traffic accident. Bet you wished it was me who crashed and died.”
So in short, narcissistic parents can never do wrong, they can never acknowledge their behaviour, they try and excuse their BS (mother used her own abusive childhood, when I managed to break the cycle of abuse, strange that), there’s always a “reason” why they behave deplorably because they can NEVER admit doing any wrong. Marshals mother? Of the same cloth as my own.

As someone with a similar relationship with my mother, I just wanna point some stuff out to those defending eminems mom. Pay attention to her actions everything is monetarily motivated. She was charging him rent as a kid, or he could get out. He spits a few lines venting about her and she sues him. She makes a diss track and a book trying to make money off of him. She denies everything, gaslights him and claims to be an exceptional mother instead. This stuff is just so familiar to me that I believe him, I know exactly how women like this work. She only cares about money and peoples perception of her. The fact he went off and became a massive success pains her because shes not entitled to that money. So she does whatever she can to make an attempt at it. The mother she described herself to be under no circumstances would sue their son. And if thats who she was theres no doubt in my mind eminem would be grateful for her and take care of her. But she didnt invest her love in him, she never expected him to ever be a success. So she learned the hard way. If she just showed her son some love, she wouldnt have to worry another day in her life. But hey atleast she doesnt have to pay for her own burial, Eminem already dug that grave for free.

Thank you to someone who get it, there are "moms" out there who care more about what people think about her than fixing what is wrong in the home. I can probly tell she never spent a single day doing something like teaching him how to drive or cook, she probly just went out to party when she get the free time. I had the same resentment, almost end up a delinquent until my aunt took me out of the house and I actually became abit poorer but because my auntie showed she care with the things that mattered I ended up happy. My mother always tried to pretend and yell saying she was a good "mother" but my aunt never once said something like that or that I owed her, she gave me a hug saying it was gonna be alright on the hospital bed and that was more love than 15 years with my mom. Now working to pay off a house me and my aunt live where we work on the garden together, never heard from my mother again and it all feel too relatable.

"You don't do this to your mom" is the worst excuse you can have. I'm tired of that being used as an excuse to justify abuse and neglect from parents, they have to show love and respect to recieve it, nobody is ever just entitled to it. After all if you choose to become a parent then it's your responsibility to stand by that and act like it, not start charging your kid for rent and getting mad when they vent about you. Children were never asked to choose their parents or be brought into this world, they were born to be taken care of by those who CHOSE to have kids. It's also a reflection of the choices adults make, kids growing up with a parent like that will obviously influence and reflect their own path and decisions in life. It's basically generational family trauma in the long run, pretty hard to break that chain. There is a lot I can get into honestly.
Edit: why is everyone who's disagreeing with me bringing up invisible things I've said 💀

Eminems mom only makes the point she provided simple necessities such as food and shelter but that was pretty much it.
