Patek Phillippe is a must buy watch on my list.What i love most about this watch is that there are countless classic self winding models,featuring central seconds and date windows.
These two brands can't be compared. Patek are leagues ahead of Rolex, who don't even come close. Rolex are a consumer brand, Patek are a luxury elite timepiece. I have a couple of Daytonas and a Patek 5711, the Patek makes the Rolex look cheap.
@@markclayden7654 it's not about poor or rich. A person capable to buy Rolex can buy Patek Philippe. It is about the brand value that matters. If you go India and show you own Patek Philippe, no one will care and ask what brand that is.

I will never consider Patek Philippe just as I will never consider Rolls Royce. Because I just don't have the money. But I can afford to buy rolex steel watches.
Maybe it's because I'm a layperson in the watch world - but as beautiful and artistic as Patek Philippe watches are, I'm not a fan of all the complications and the more simpler classic designs seem to be all self-winding (which I am too lazy and busy for). Kind of like appreciating Haute Couture gowns, beautiful craftsmanship from the creators but I wouldn't want to own one in real life.

My mum suggested that i get a patek philippe, i liked the rolex until i saw the backing of the case on some youtube videos and could see the inner workings of the watch and it's a big put off for me i prefer not to see the workings just a personal preference but i'm also put off by the clasp of both types of watches!

Both are amazing luxury watch brands. I'm more inclined towards the Patek Philippe watches as they have more of a contemporary look and feel to them.
