The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 116622 is encased in 40mm of stainless steel surrounding a blue dial on a stainless steel Oyster bracelet. If I didn't know the price tags behind the watches and just looked at them objectively, I'd pick the Yacht Masters to wear.

@Joseph Gabriele It really depends on the watch but a few dollars is stretching it if you’re talking about the whole of a watch. However if you mean the cost of the steel used in the case and bracelet you would be right.

A green dial YM would be amazing.
The YM is really a comparison champion. It can easily compete against pricier watches and still look just as luxurious, not to mention often a lot nicer looking than the competitor.
I like both timepieces. However, the Yachtmaster not only better fits my lifestyle, it is my grail watch.

You can have an amazing collection of Rolex pieces for the cost of that 5711. I would have this YM, a GMT, and DJ41 fluted for the cost of the Patek.

The fit and finish of the Nautilus is objectively better no doubt. But aesthetically the YM blows it out of the water

Outstanding review. Yachtmaster is a hidden gem among luxury watch collectors.
The blue YM is a killer, from rolex. Not entry level like SS Subs and GMTs
If anything, this video blatantly shows:
1. Rolex bracelet construction is the best there is.
2. Its buckle is also markedly superior. Seeing that VC overseas can build superior buckle, It simply has no excuse not to offer it in 2021.
3. Its 72 hour power reserve while still staying just 11.4mm thick is certainly a decisive advantage as well. 8.5 mm thick watch with meagre 40 hours is not impressive no matter how I see it.
This video also fails to mention that servicing Patek is neither easy nor quick, no matter which locale it is.
Conclusion : buy Rolex if you want a luxury watch that is reliable, practical and also with the best after sales service there is.
Patek can be a credible choice if you are after high quality movement finishing, case finishing or brand cachet. Just know that its bracelet, buckle and aftersales service is not the best there is..

Design wise, just feel like the YM is trying too hard compared to the Nautilus. Price wise, $100K for the Nautilus? That is just beyond crazy, IMO.
At retail price, the Nautilus. At current price, the YM.
I own the Rolex and I would totally recommend it. Very solid, thin, elegant. I wouldn’t mind a 5711 of course but I don’t think it’s worth like an Audi RS4
I respect the Nautilus for the reasons you pointed out and no one can argue that Patek makes some amazing watches. Personally I’m not a big fan of this design and the price disqualifies it for me anyway. I happen to like this YM a lot and was strongly considering purchasing one, but I ended up purchasing a Milguass Z blue instead as this was a watch I really liked and I was concerned at the time that the Z might be getting the chop, I really wanted to buy a new one so I went that direction. It is my first Rolex and represents 20 years of work with the same employer which I think is pretty good considering I’m still under 40. Two different watches but I love them both and I hope to purchase a YM as well down the road. Great video as always Tim, thank you!

I’ve owned the identical Rolex for over 5 months now, with the updated 70 hour power reserve. Absolutely love my decision went I walked into the ad looking for a sub I bought this instead. I personally believe they are very overlooked and undervalued at this time as it is a stainless sports watch that’s is fair price for now!

The Nautilus is just a hideous watch. I have no idea what the appeal is to people. It looks like a bad prop from some cheesy 70s sci-fi movie.
I do like the style of the nautlius, it is way better than the aquanaut and the royal oak in my opinion at least

Tim, you are a guy who can sell the hell out of a watch. I always looked at this model Yachtmaster as a sissy watch for fancy lads (who cares about the $100K sissy watch). HOWEVER, I see the Yachmaster benefits much more clearly now. Thanks for that! I love the detail and YEAH Patek how the hell do you engineer a watch to be more likely to lose time than gain time? -3/+2 is just shameful. Even Omega engineers to -0/+5 on some models if I'm not mistaken (or is that Oris? you'll know).
The ease of faking and cloning the Nautilus shows you're not getting nearly enough watch for 100k+.
it's not easy at all; show me a replica Patek that is actually 8mm

You can buy a medium sack of Yachtmasters for the price of a Nautilus and it's still a better watch in ever way.
I can't get off on the mass produced Rolex .... The Patek is on another level .... Hand made and beautiful .... Just like my AP, RO, OS Chronograph, re: 26406 FR in Pink Gold, Forged Carbon and Ceramic .... Once you have something this good, everything else is a compromise ....

In fact they both have their holy grail version : the nautilus in blue dial and the YM in slate (rhodium) dial! As we speak the YM40 rhodium is going very high on grey market. Another thing I should have buy 2 years ago….
On the non-hacking Nautilus' (Nautili?) does it negatively affect the movement or damage it in any way when you use backpressure to stall the seconds hand?

Great comparison, well done! I love the Yacht-Master with blue dial which, due to its aesthetics and characteristics, stands out from many more famous watches despite many lovers of time pieces not yet appreciating it as it deserves.

I think the YM ( especially with the grey rhodium dial ) doesn’t stand up and shout as much as a sub hulk of gmtso it’s easier to wear as a daily and attracts less attention from undesirables
YM fits like a glove. I forget its there its so svelte! Lol. Mine is the silver platinum faced piece, have had it for 15 years. Still looks almost new. No thanks on Patek.

The silvery Nautilus is very understated and unlikely to be noticed ..not to be compared to the rather flash Rolex YM. but fine on board a yacht.

With the Patek you get cheap pin sleeves/no hacking movement/less accuracy and only a 35 hour power reserve. (I guess you get what you pay for lol )
No one buys a Patek for a hacking movement and screw-in links. A solid stainless steel Seiko Dive Watch, with hacking movement and screw-in links cost about $200 bucks.

I have the exact rolex and love it. But i have to say you'll feel the hype when you actually see a patek watch... so delegate and sleak on the wrist. if cost isn't considered, i'd take a patek over rolex all day man.
The ROLEX simply is a ROLEX, with their Oyster case is, like other models, the quintessence of male design on a watch. Gérald Genta was more well inspired with their 'Royal Oak', Imo.
When rolex is compared to other brands like Omega,Breitling,Tudor etc. It's hand made and it takes a long time to make each peace , When compared to patek it's mass produced lol !!!!! . Man we're being taken
By selecting the Yacht-Master for this video, Observe Tim's implied analogy: Yacht-Master is to Rolex, what Nautilus is to Patek Philippe. Tim is not comparing a Submariner to the Nautilus! The Yacht-Master is more sophisticated and more glamorous, which puts it closer to the Nautilus Club than the Submariner. A significant point is that the watch fits a wrist like a Daytona. The watch repels homophobic men. Even women who fantasize dominating other women might wear it. The Yacht Master is better than a Submariner. If you think I'm wrong, go pound sand.

In my unpopular opinion, that style of bezel on the Rolex is so ugly it would make a G~Shock even uglier.

Wow. The Patek watch has no hacking and a modest power reserve of 45 hours, sometimes less. For the price range that's certainly a deal breaker, notwithstanding the beautiful aesthetics. I was never drawn to Patek watches generally. The vast majority of them are boring and look too conventional. You're paying mostly for reputation and history. Overrated! I'd much prefer a Breguet, which produces some of the most elegant and beautiful watches.

The Rolex looks like the typical, "run-of-the-mill" steel dive watch with dotted indices. Having said that, Rolex claims superiority over Omega and other "luxury brand" watches, but when reviewed or compared to "High-end Luxury" or Haute Hologerie timepieces...Rolex "can't cut the mustard".
