    • @xAy3x
      @xAy3x 5 років тому +8

      I've thought of this a lot. I've been trying to think of like a large patch kind of thing or shirt or something that says something like "LICENSED CARRIER" or "FRIENDLY" or "NOT THE ACTIVE SHOOTER" idk something. It would be good to have some sort of arm band or some sort of indicator that people can have that police are aware of to distinguish them

    • @mrmr5918

      @@xAy3x yeah, thinking similar. If a fake police badge on a dog tag would help.....but any signal (hey I'm a good guy) will later be used by a bad guy. So im not sure long term if the police would ever believe the signal if they saw it.

    • @xAy3x
      @xAy3x 5 років тому +6

      @@mrmr5918 Yeah unfortunately. I was thinking maybe it could be a state issued thing with your LTC but, itd probably be too easy to replicate or use something that looks similar enough making it even more dangerous for law enforcement or worse a LTC holder could go nuts and ruin everything, cause all it takes is one f*ckwit before were all thrown into the same category.

    • @tackleberry3729
      @tackleberry3729 5 років тому +32

      Pretty simple: once the shooter is down, or once the police are obscene, drop your gun and lay down on your stomach IMMEDIATELY, and do whatever they tell you. Answer any questions, "I intend to cooperate fully, but I'd like my lawyer present before answering any questions."

    • @xAy3x
      @xAy3x 5 років тому +23

      @@tackleberry3729 Absolutely, if the situation allows. Though, it's easy to think that would be exactly how it would go down, unfortunately, unless you have 360 vision and 100% awareness of your surroundings and are not deaf after any shots fired, it's much more likely that your body will be flooded with adrenaline, you will be dazed, confused as hell, have tunnel vision and your ears will be ringing so bad that you can't even hear your own thoughts. So really all you can do is hope that you are able to stop the threat quickly and that the responding officers make good judgment calls. But that's the risk we have to take so that others may live.

      Just to split hairs here. There is no difference to be quite honest and speaking from a Constitutional standpoint since 'shall not be infringed' is in the 2nd we can and should carry everywhere. Their laws rely on our compliance, I really wish more people would realize that, but also educate yourself on the Constitution - any 'law' written that does not adhere to the Constitution should be considered as not written at all.

He was section 8 and came to take revenge with a Mac-90 w/drum magazine . I hid with my mom behind a dumpster as we heard shots fired very close by. It was a miraculous shot to the face from 70 yards by an SP w/9mm on a bicycle that took the killer down. I would also say knowing/ practicing medical is a big deal as well. I've seen a lot of people fall into either not using enough pressure or force because they're scared they are going to hurt someone and then fail to stop the bleeding, or attempting to move a victim who doesn't need to be moved causing additional injuries. You are far more likely to need to use your medical training than self defense shooting, both of which are important, but car accidents, choking, heart attacks, work related trauma, or if a mass casualty, there will be more victims than bad guys. And lastly know how to improvise medical, with every day items, because sometimes there are multiple injuries of the same type, and your gear will only go so far.

    Running these kinds of scenarios in my head, I have a concerning what-if: let's say I am outside a chapel and someone starts shooting it up. I enter the room with my own gun drawn and I see two people with guns already drawn. One of them, person A, spots me and turns their weapon in my direction. Is person A the bad guy or are they someone doing what I am doing, trying to stop the bad guy and they thought I was a 2nd bad guy?
    What if we rerun the scenario and I am person A trying to stop person B who is the bad guy? This new guy comes in the door gun drawn. How do I know they are there to help so I dont shoot them too?

    • @cversion7
      @cversion7 4 роки тому +1

      If it’s not your own church/chapel, you don’t have enough information to make the right decisions in scenario 1. You won’t know who is a good guy or not and just hearing shots shouldn’t lead you to run in gun drawn. If you felt you had to run in, I would do so very cautiously without drawing to try to assess the situation.
      In scenario 2, I have to assume this is your own church/chapel so you should know who is part of your flock. You should use voice commands, find cover, and properly assess whether this new person is a threat or not.
      Ultimately, the church/chapel should have a security team (or at least a plan) to handle an active killer situation. If you are referring to your own, get this setup. For me, if it’s not my church, I would call 911 and make sure others get to a safe place. Not rush in looking to neutralize a threat when I don’t know the layout or any of the people. I know I am not trained for that sort of thing.

    • @mightyenigma1
      @mightyenigma1 4 роки тому +1

      @@cversion7 thanks; that makes sense. It's hard because i want to stop the threat, but I knew I couldnt assess the situation quickly enough to take decisive surprise action. And coming in means possibly getting shot myself. Better if someone already in the room is ready to protect others.

      Also think universal rules of firearm safety. Know your target! Act fast as much as you can but act smart always. If you don’t know who the bad guy is you just can’t shoot and hopefully the other good guys think the same. It’s dangerous but a risk you have to ask yourself if your willing to take before the situation even comes up.
