    Currently my 2nd favourite vessel (after a Diesel Duck), I've watched a few videos of the 41 and would not hesitate to go trans-Atlantic in one.

    Is there room to have a water maker added to this boat at the time of its build in Turkey? Could the short couch on the port side be left out of the design in favor of an office desk area and some additional storage or is there some type of tankage under that couch? And, what is the floor to ceiling height in the guest berth and in front of the two closets in the master berth?

    hi, thanks for sharing! quick question: is it just me or the salon and kitchen are way less habitable compared to the N40? looks to me that there's not much space to move around and also the table seems small...

    • @teamescape6267
      @teamescape6267  3 роки тому +3

      Hi Gabrielle. The table is quite small but was perfect for the two of us. The galley is well designed and works well. We spent 4 weeks aboard in October/November last year and found we had enough space. We plan 6-12 week at a time so the N41 will be perfect. For a permanent live aboard I would look at the N52 or the great looking new N51. I highly recommend the N41 for two people for up to 3 month cruises. Just my personal opinion.

    Thanks for sharing the bad weather footage, it's good to see real life. Can you explain if the boat takes a lot of work to get in and out of storage on the hard each 6 months? Can I ask where you store it, the monthly cost and are you happy with the service? Thanks.

      Hi Mike. Depending on how much fuel you want to burn - a good compromise is around 7 knots where she is very comfortable and not burning too much fuel. I will do real life fuel consumption rates when we return in May.

    Love your videos, except for these vertical formats:-) Can you please show the outboard sides of the engines? Looks really tight for service. On the old Gandbanks, you could easily sit on the outboard sides and work. Not on this 41. And on the port engine is the raw water impeller, oil cooler, and heat exchanger. Looks nearly impossible to repair. Hoping I'm wrong. Maybe laying on top and reaching over is going to be the way. Wish NH could over given it at least a foot of room on the outboard sides. I'd sacrifice fuel tank storage for more room or maybe they could have done something different with the tanks.Being able to easily service the engines is a huge MUST. Really looks like they missed the mark here. This is our favorite boat and we really want to order one within a couple years.

    what other boats did you consider before buying this one? Hardy? Dale? or any British boats?

    • @teamescape6267
      @teamescape6267  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Ganesh. We looked at numerous boats including sailing catamarans. We wanted a vessel that was super well built and could handle most conditions - had to have two means of propulsion (either sails and engine or 2 x engines) and was super easy to store on the hard. It also had to have the space to spend months aboard and reliability was a big factor. The N41 is category A and that was essential and disqualified many other small trawler brands. In the end it was a "no brainer" to go for a N41 and we have been happy with our decision - the only reason I would change one day would be to go bigger if we lived aboard permanently and that would probably be a bigger Nordhavn.

    Very nicely done. The leaking window seems odd for a vessel capable of crossing oceans?

    • @teamescape6267
      @teamescape6267  3 роки тому +2

      The windows have small air holes in the bottom track - in future I will put some small grommets into the holes in poor beam weather. In an ocean crossing I would most probably look at complete shutters or a more secure arrangement. The boat is built super strong so is definitely capable of much worse weather than we are.

      @teamescape6267  3 роки тому +1

      Hello Frans - great to hear that another za person is interested in Nordhavn. The N41 is a really well built vessel and we are super happy with the quality. We had a gearbox leak that was most probably shipped from the engine factory with a small crack. Nordhavn's support was brilliant and they replaced the part. I highly recommend the Nordhavn brand - let me know if you have any more questions.

    What is the size of your tender and is there place for some bicycles onboard?

    • @teamescape6267
      @teamescape6267  3 роки тому +1

      We have a 2.95m tender with a 15hp outboard - could go slightly bigger if required. Could put some bikes on the roof but they will rust with the sea spray - unless you had a good cover. Not too much space for bike storage inside or in the lazaret unless you travel very light - we store spares/food/oils/chairs etc in the laz.

    It seems like a remarkably empty engine room?
    I can't quite believe the bigger nordhavns have so much more jammed in when the 41 like this is nearly empty yet still has everything needed...?
    Everything's very pared down though, the diesel heating system is certain.y not ul too much but as they're sub $900 imguessif it was a problem its affordable to keep a new as spares somewhere, possibly the same would apply to a lot of the standard equipment, its basic but all there and easily replaceable.
    The cracked gearbox housing I'd be tempted to have it welded and keep for spares

    • @teamescape6267
      @teamescape6267  2 роки тому

      Hi David. The swell was relatively small at around 3 - 6ft as you mentioned - the challenge is that they were close together (3-5s) which makes for an uncomfortable ride. The N41 is a heavy vessel and in my opinion handled very well. I look forward to returning to Turkey in April this year and will post some more footage of any rough weather we encounter. All the best with your 36".

      @@axelvonversen Hi Alex. We have left our N41 on the hard in Turkey for winter. We plan to cruise the Med moving westwards over the next few years before crossing to the Caribbean. We don’t have plans to bring back to South Africa - our home port is Durban which is great for day fishing trips on a fast offshore sports boat but not a Nordhavn.
